Out of the fresh from the lab frimp, I get a sharpness, like evergreen or household cleaner. Not what I was expecting from the title. However, wet on the skin that sentiment fades quickly enough, giving way to berries of the antioxidant and holiday variety, reds and purples, intertwined lovingly with luscious aromatic greenery. A winter wreath. As it dries down, some soft spices and black tea emerge. It's reminding me of a Lush product I used some years ago - can't recall the name. Further dried down, the sage is a lovely addition that I wasn't expecting. All in all, I'm a fan of this for a cold weather scent. A Xmas Wxtch, if you will, brewing in the kitchen.

Purchased this bottle from the lab for a friend's birthday, and of course I have to test it. Out of the bottle, oh sweet booziness! Toffee and Bailey's or Kahlua. Wet on my skin, that alcohol note thankfully dies down a bit. The spices come out to play a little more. As it dries, the syrupiness resides as well, and the sweetness is a dusty, warm sort. This is not my cup of tea (I don't care much for either caramel or coffee things) but I hope it's right up my friend's alley! P.S. A little bit goes a long way!

I am most likely going to end up purchasing a bottle of this. It's probably my favorite GC blend to date. I've sat down to try and write a review about 5 times now, and failed, and now my imp is nearly halfway gone! I smell: vanilla, cherry, smoke, spices, honey, bourbon, musk... These are a few of my favorite things. I pick up different notes every time I sniff myself, something I enjoy. The throw and lasting power are both great.

Eeeep, nuuuupe, this is not for me. I tried out this fresh lab frimp before knowing what notes were in it. I immediately picked up on the leather, which is nearly always a nope. Looks like there is also vetiver, another eeehhhh. I tried passing this off to my partner, who is more masculine than I, but they also scrunched up their nose in distaste. It's getting stronger the longer it dries, and I think I may wash it off... Someone mentioned it has the "new car smell" which is definitely on point and definitely something that historically makes me nauseous ๐

First of all, the oil in the imp (unknown age) is a beautiful red color, which made me think it would have red musk or the like as a note. Imagine my surprise when I opened and sniffed the imp! This is my first experience with violet, and I think I'm a fan. Roses and lavender do not do it for me, but violet? Perhaps... The vanilla gives just a hint of sweet smokiness, but does not overwhelm at all. In fact, if I hadn't read the notes list, I wouldn't have been able to pick it out. Gardenia gives it a smidge of powdery green. The longer it dries on my skin, the spicier it gets... I think I've found my first floral winner! My partner says I smell like baby powder but I promise, I don't.

Fresh from the lab frimp! Always appreciated. I get the pink grapefruit and peppermint right away, and can easily pick up the lavender and another floral note if I concentrate - I'm assuming that's the geranium/zdravetz. All of these notes are not things I would generally pick in a scent, but it's interesting how they all come together. My partner says I smell like "laundry" ๐ I'll be passing this along, as it's a wee bit too clean and green for me.

I LOVE this. I picked out an empty bottle of The Divine Scientist as a free sniffie, and was so intrigued that I knew I had to have more. My bottle just arrived yesterday and I am so glad that I treated myself with it. It does smell Divine, the scent of clean light and enlightenment. A moment of clarity in a church or temple or shrine, where the priest or priestess is wearing really expensive garb. The aldehyde keeps it all from smelling like a forest or a gin tonic. Elderflower is always lovely in the way that it does not overpower and instead enhances anything it's paired with. I would say that this is gender neutral. TLDR; this is one of my top favorites.

I've had a string of rose scents that just aren't doing it for me, and unfortunately it smells like Blood Rose is joining those lowly ranks. I had my hopes up because, hey, "Blood," one of my favorite things. Maybe it's BPAL's rose note, because this is new for me to unlike rose as much as I do lately. Sigh. All I get is soapiness and baby powder, with the faintest hint of wine in the background.

Out of the imp (of unknown age) I can pick up on the red musk, which is typically a friend of mine. Just that hint of sweetness, mmm. Wet on my skin I immediately get the roses mixed with the amber. Unfortunately it seems to turn sour. I'm reminded of old moldy paper. I think I'm learning that roses are hit or miss on me. When combined with the amber, which I'm usually not a huge fan, something goes awry. Oh well, another one to frimp away!

I've got an imp of unknown age. The color is a gorgeous bright red. Out of the imp there is a sweet dragon's blood hint, but that disappears pretty quickly on the skin, overwhelmed by what I think is jasmine. There's a tiny bit of clove in there I think, but the jasmine dominates. I wish the scent matched the color more! My partner really likes this, but me, not so much. I have a few friends who really like jasmine, so maybe this would be a good gift for them. The longer it dries, the powderier it gets. I cannot speak towards its purpose as a voodoo oil; only as a perfume. Edit: I paired this with some RPG Neutral and I like it a lot more!

This is one of my recent favorites for sure, despite it being florally-based. Things in the orange family always seem to surprisingly be lovely and dareisay sexy on my skin, and this is no exception. That musk balances out the oleander beautifully, and the spices do not overwhelm. Seriously, this is kind of a combination of my favorites: sweet orange, musk, and spices. No hint of powderiness the handful of times I've worn it. Mmmm yesss I'm a fan. ๐งก

Ooo, not what I was expecting! Wet out of the imp of unknown age, it's sweet without being syrupy; clean. Very pleasant, kind of feminine. Like other reviewers, I'm not a big fan of florals, but there is a right amount of muskiness in here to keep it from being a "floral" in my book. The sweetness dies down before the muskiness, leaving a soft, unobtrusive, yet still quite nice base scent that I'm looking forward to layering with others. A keeper!

Wet out of the imp of unknown age I get cherries, almond, leather, maybe some spices... interesting. On my skin the spices come forward more, spices of the woodier variety, with some definite smokiness. Amongst the aromatic burning woods there may be tobacco. The sweetness is very nearly gone, A Caribbean nighttime bonfire. How fun!

This is... interesting. I have an imp of unknown age. Out of the imp and wet I get the myrrh with some fruitiness (wine I guess?) and the rose. On my skin the jasmine bobs in and out, attempting to take control over the rose. That myrrh and pinot keep it all from turning into a plainly floral scent. As it dries down, it really becomes softer as the resins go to sleep. Unfortunately I'm not a big fan of florals (= soap & baby powder) but this was creative and I can see why people would be a fan of it!

I have an imp of this and its age is unknown. Wet: I immediately get patchouli, a little hint of dragon's blood, and the tiniest hint of cinnamon. Patchouli is just so overwhelming, like cedar. I'm usually a fan of red musk blends, and I can imagine that being really interesting with a heavier cinnamon note. Drying: Ooooo the cinnamon is coming out to play! There's some spiciness. The dragon's blood seems to be challenging the patchouli as well. We are a spicy and dry blend without much sweetness.

Out of the imp of unknown age, I get sweet berries with some booziness. Wet on my skin, I get a hint of thyme with the bitterness of red wine. The berries are threatening to turn into a drugstore scent perversion from the 90s. I was really excited for this one and it's not quite living up, but like I said I have NO idea how old this imp is and how time has aged it.
-
Out of the imp of unknown age, I get sweet cherry popsicle. That fades pretty quickly as the clove takes control on my skin. There is a metallic-ness there. The cherry isn't completely gone but I wish it'd come out to play some more. Drying down all I'm really getting is that metallic clove. After about an hour, I get a hint of myrrh, or is it dragon's blood? as everything fades away...

Oh honey, no. *sneezes* Out of the factory frimp, aged less than one year, I get a whiff of sweet cherries, unfortunately not long-lasting. Wet: It smells like cavity fluid (high index formaldehyde) with some plastic-y orange and vanilla. Usually I'm a fan of that combination, but not here. As it dries: it's mellowing out a bit, a wee bit softer, powder-ier, and more floral, but my nose is still not a fan and burns in protest.

Like others have said, the lavender slaps you in the face both from the bottle and wet on the skin. I'm not usually a fan of lavender but thought I would test this before gifting it to a friend. My partner swears they smell something lemony in the scent, and I can see where they are coming from. I'm not familiar with rock-rose, and it's surprisingly not very floral. Imagine sunlight through the glass panes, natural linen everywhere, an antique dresser and a well-worn ceramic tea cup.

Straight out of the lab frottle I get peppercorn, grapefruit, and froot loops. Wet on my skin, the fruity sweetness fades away into a more booze-centric scent, still heavy on the citrus which is now more obviously of the orange family than the grapefruit. Yup, I smell like a cocktail in the corner of a dark yet clean and classy basement speakeasy. I don't much like oranges so I'll be passing this along, but it's neat to try a thing I usually wouldn't buy! Some else mentioned a spa day and I can see the resemblance.

Every Day You Play With the Light of the Universe

I bought this a gift for a friend but hey I'm a BPAL addict so I've got to test it out first, right? ๐ Out of the bottle I smell pear and honeysuckle. Winning so far! On my skin wet it nearly immediately becomes more complex and fancy. The plum and cherry blossoms shine and sing. It's too crisp for myself personally, and I'm not a huge fan of florals to begin with. There is a slight chemical-y sharpness. The "amber cream" prevents it from just smelling like a mall-purchased body spray. I think my friend is gonna like this. ๐ -

Woah, there's a lot going on here! Out of the bottle I smell a honeyed dessert of some sort, with hints of the milk, the vanilla, and the cardamom. I smell yummy On my skin it becomes weaponized as it becomes sharper and sweeter. It's a bit too much for me! Others have mentioned bourbon as a note and I definitely see where they are coming from. As I read through the notes list, I feel as though I can put my finger on nearly everything listed, which is pretty neat. (Except maybe oak bark? I'm not getting a lot of earthiness.) Cedar quite hit or miss with me, and I'm beginning to think that perhaps vetiver and I do not especially go well together... Foodie scents are definitely growing on me however! I'm looking forward to trying more. My partner doesn't especially like this on me either, so, it was fun, but, onward! -
Out of the lab frimp, I'm immediately reminded of Vixen. On my skin, however, the similarity fades away. The dryness that I typically associate with sandalwood is cancelled out with a sweetness that I cannot define. I've sampled quite a few scents featuring red musk and amber - Le Lethe, Scherezade, the Coiled Serpent, etc. I think what sets this one apart is the rosewood and sandalwood, enveloping the other notes in a woodiness that is neither earthy nor holidayesque. This is a complex, addicting scent that is prevented from being too "mature"/fancy-old-lady by that hint of sweetness that I mentioned. Still don't know where it's coming from, but the longer it dries down, the sweeter it gets. I'm a fan! I want my partner to wear it more...

Initial thought: MUSK. I'm brought down to the basement magic/head shop downtown in the old market - you know the sort, where the old school goths sell bottles of hot sauce next to dusty dragon figurines. I can pick up the nagarmotha, which I wasn't previously familiar with but think I can identify it after reading about it. It reminds me of incense in an Indian grocer. The champa definitely contributes to that sentiment. As it dries down, a wee bit of sweetness comes out to play, and I swear there's a bit of fruitiness as well, so there's the plum honey. Apparently opponax is also known as sweet myrrh, so I'm unsure on how that differs from "velvet myrrh." Unfortunately, 1) this scent doesn't seem to last very long, and 2) my partner doesn't like it. Maybe this will be my secret alone time comfort. I'm a fan of the complexity.

Out of the imp I get an earthy, sharp greenness, but with complexity. On my skin, a muskiness is immediately apparent that reminds me of red musk (which is not listed on the note list). It also reminds me of soap/powder. If I try reeeal hard I can make out the cypress. Yes, there is a hint of florals, which I'm not a fan of in general, and it just kind of reminds my of old ladies or Chanel or something. I'm going to have to pass with Hades, but I'm glad I gave it a shot. Unfortunately my partner is not a fan as well, either on themself or myself, so off to someone else it will go!
