Even though I've let this age a bit, I'm still not a huge fan. To me, it's bready with a bit of cinnamon. I've recently acquired the OG Snake Oil, and I'm a fan of that, so that's not the issue here for me. Maybe it's the patchouli that's yeasty? Dunno, but I think I'll end up selling this bottle. Oh well!

The day has come. After years of BPALing (yes that is a verb now), I have a lab frimp of the legendary Snake Oil. I have had it less than a year, so it has not aged in my possession. It is fabulous, exceeding expectations. I am keeping this, and I will probably use it up to warm me up this cold winter.
-
Pine & cypress forward, with the honeyed patchouli hanging out in the background on the dry down. A strong, fresh scent that summons an image of a cabin in the woods on a lake in the wintertime. Masculine leaning, but may layer nicely with something else to become more feminine.
-
Candy-sweet strawberry syrup, with some light underlying earthy spices to hold it down. (Cinnamon? Clove? Nutmeg? idk) I think that as a spell, this is a successful blend ^^ Thank you labbies for the frimp!
-
Lab fresh frimp.Wow, I think I really like this. Smoky, cinnamon, camphor... It's memorable and striking. I sense that earthy, woodiness that others have mentioned. I think this will help warm me up on these cold December days!
-
I am very thankful that the lab released another batch of this. I see what the hype is about. Complex and addicting, Eve is up there in my favorites of the OLLA line. Rose incense meets dusty spices, with the aftertaste of honey. Yet that's not the imagery that gets conjured - that, my friends, is a different kind of dusty magick.
-
Woah, this is not what I expected. The brightness is almost carbonated, not at all what I would expect from a woody floral. I'm not picking up any of the smokiness that others have commented on. I think I can pick up that wood varnish chemicalness, but it's not in a bad way. All in all, this is a lovely ghostly floral, with the proper amount of mystery and magic. If I were BPAL, I would be proud of this one. (I don't typically like florals, tbh). I think I'll save this imp of unknown age/origin for the spring and summertime!

I can't believe that I've never reviewed this, since it's been one of my go-to autumn scents for a couple of years now. Bobbing For Blood Kisses is apple-forward in its crispness, and has a complexity that makes you come back for more sniffs. The clove and red wine is light, not overwhelming. A dash of cherry brings out the sweet/tart of the apples, and the poppy rounds out the red beauty. As it dries, the creamy vanilla comes out a little more, but the spiced wine and poppy keep holding on as well. This was a blind bottle purchase, and one of the best I've ever risked!

Ugh, I almost wish I didn't love this as much as I do. But I do. Lemon & sugar, what more do you need?? It's like the fanciest lemon drop you'll ever have the pleasure of encountering. I know I should probably save it for the summer months or something, but I can't help reapplying it now in November.

I would probably have never purchased this on my own, since I have yet to find a leather scent that I love. I am however thankful that my friend blind purchased this, and I got a try! In the bottle, I'm picking up the the leather and fougere. Wet on my skin, both of those notes are amplified. It is indeed a masculine-leaning scent. The leather unfortunately is doing that nausea thing that leather seats in cars do to me. Glad I didn't buy this, but how could I not try it...!? Adam ❤️

Lab frimp~ Wet on my skin, I get the syrupy cherry right away, which is halted by a dry, coconut husk-like finish. The anise comes out to play soon, turning it all into a candy from ye olde candy shoppe. Though I do like anise, and I don't mind gourmand scents, there is something too Red 40 or artificial here for me on the dry-down. It's fun, though!

Lap fresh frimp~ This is interesting, and I think I like it! Wet: not quite ripe strawberries, with the spice of carnation to keep it red. I can see the resemblance that others have noted to Blood Kiss. Also like a spicer or slightly floral Cruor (Lilith). Dry, this is surprisingly similar to as it was wet. That's fine with me!

Lab fresh frimp! Wet: bright, clean, soft floral, not too powdery. When it comes to florals, if I must have a flower, a violet is an acceptable one. Drying down, the more resinous notes come out. The white tea or whatever was so bright calms down. Still a clean scent, and pretty sophisticated if I do say so. The sandalwood is not overpowering at all, which I appreciate. All in all, I think this would be a nice, everyday SPRING scent. I'm in the meat of fall at the moment, so perhaps I should just set this aside and reevaluate next year!

Imp of unknown age. This starts off deliciously fresh and clean. However, as it dries, it gets sickly and I just don't like it anymore. I don't find this entirely surprising, since I don't like lavender. Passing this along to someone else.

I have an aged imp. Wet on my skin, the oudh soars with a halo of amber - there is just the barest hint of bay rum, which is more herbal than sweet, but not so much that it's medicinal. It is indeed masculine, but I could also argue for unisex. A bit too woodsy for my everyday wear, but I still enjoy it. It reminds me of the warm wood of a Minnesota log cabin.

This thread was kinda hard to find! But I made it eventually. I have here a lab fresh frimp! (Well, I let it age a bit, to be honest.) Lavender is not, and has never been, my jam. However, I can appreciate the balance here with the soft vanilla marshmallowness - not too sweet, not too herbal. Like a sophisticated cocktail without the booze. Funnel cakes at the lavender farm. I will pass this along to someone who likes lavender!

Lab fresh frimp! ❤️ Wet on my skin: Yum! Sweet and honey-like, beeswax included. There's a wee bit of herbalness, but it's not overpowering nor medicinal. (if this was my medicine, I'd have a problem lol) What a lovely resin. Unfortunately my partner says it smells like baby powder which I disagree with. But I'll probably gift this onwards to someone whose partner doesn't have a broken nose Edit: Wow, this stayed on for ~10 hours!! Impressive.

First review, yeah let's do it! Wet on my skin, I am immediately reminded of The Hierophant's Benediction. Comparing their notes, I see that is most likely due to their shared bourbon vanilla and almond milk/cream. The fig, honey, and mimosa bring a bright and warm sweetness to the table that calms down quickly. When dry, the jasmine sings loudly. The throw is not far, and lasting is not long, yet I am not upset to reapply Obergefell V. Hodges. This is definitely a summer blend in my book, and I am happy with my blind purchase!

Snow Moon: Yuzu and Blackcurrant
skyturtles replied to doomsday_disco's topic in Duets & Menage A Trois
Lab bottle: This interesting and more complex than I was expecting. It starts off crisp and classy, and as it warms, the blackcurrant comes out more. I can see how that could be construed as soapy territory. It's thankfully not too heavy or strong, otherwise I don't think I'd like it as much. I think it's a wintery scent, all in all! -
First impression is a fizzy energy drink, cotton-candy flavored (not a bad thing!) Dries down to let some of the grit and petrichor out. Does not have a far throw, sad face. This was pretty much what I was wanting - sweet, tongue out.

This isn't my first testing of the White Rider but I just received a lab frimp of it and realized I never reviewed it. I did know that I didn't love it, however, but was willing to give it another go. I'm assuming that the "horsiness" that others are getting is the zoo guano note that I'm picking up. Luckily there is enough other stuff going on to distract from damp decomp. I'm not a big fan of either leather nor sandalwood, but I can see how some would find this pleasant. It does seem to last a long while. Passing this onwards.

I purchased a bottle of this for a friend. First impressions: VERY incense-y, to a headshop level. It calms down a bit pretty quickly to be more resin-y. I can pick up the brimstone notes that I'm familiar with thanks to The Chapel. It adds to an almost waxy candle vibe. This is a wee bit too strong for my own daily wear, but it is by no means unpleasant!

You BET I blindly purchased a bottle of this. I'm a big fan of The Divine Scientist and frankincense in general. IMO: The Catholic doesn't have quite as far a throw, and also fades quicker than than The Divine Scientist. But I still love that sacred incense vibe. Not so much of a American headshop sort of way, but more like a Buddhist supply store in Chengdu. Or bringing down dusty Christmas equipment from the dimly lit cathedral attic (I was an altar kid for like 4 years, ok?) Also: Go read the Bitch Planet graphic novels folks, they are bomb.
