For some reason, autumn and winter are my "rocker aesthetic" seasons: Band tees, flannel shirts, boots. Scent-wise, I associate heavy scents like patchouli, nag champa, incense, spice, etc with the colder seasons as well. It got me thinking: Are there any scents out there with similar notes that also fit the 80s rocker vibe? Throw in some hairspray, smoke, maybe some cannabis. I know Deathrock is pretty damn close, but are there any others that fit the vibe?

DUDE I was looking at the Dr. Caligari stuff the other day! I have a sample of Caligari A Go-Go and I'm in LOVE with it. I want to FS it, so I took the opportunity to look at the rest of the collection. Embalming Fluid is high on my "to buy" list.

There was a Herbert West one?! Shit, I'm gonna have to try and track that one down. I'm a big Reanimator fan. 😆 The Steamworks ones sound pretty good! Amazing suggestions so far! Weren't there also some ones that were lab/alchemy inspired? I think they may be GC.

We're getting super close to Spooky Season™ and I'm really leaning into the mad scientist vibe this year (as opposed to my usual druid/Samhain vibe I go for every year). I feel like BPAL has/had several scents that were along the lines of mad scientist or mad scientist's lab, but I don't remember which ones they are/were!

Starts out as a strong amber on me and fades into a soapy, antique oak. It's very spooky, yet kind of sophisticated? Like the dark and sultry master of the manor welcoming you into his home. Side note: Wet, it reminds me of, in a weird way, Estee by Estee Lauder. Which is what my mom has worn for decades so, in a way, this fragrance reminds me of my mom

I get hit with musk and amber right away, then it fades to a soft fabric-y smell? This one is confusing to me because the name led me to believe it would be this intimidating, overbearing, rich scent, but to me it just smells like a vintage perfume? Not quite grandma-esque, but a sophisticated woman in the 1940s or 1950s. It just gives off vintage vibes. Now, I did sample it as soon as I got it out of the mailbox, so it may benefit from resting for a while. I do like it and may very well full size it!
