This is more atmospheric than I expected! The tea-stained linen is very prominent. It's not a laundry smell, but like cloth bandages drenched in milky tea. The myrrh is more like a light cloud of incense. The embalming resins add a creepy aura to the whole thing. There is a sweetness, but it doesn't read as coconut so it must be from the condensed milk. I also get an oily note, but it's more like a funeral oil than a french fry to me most of the time. This isn't really what I expected, but it's nice. I am perpetually hoping for more coconut, but this isn't really coconutty at all. It smells clean, but different from your usual clean laundry perfume.

I enjoy regular Perversion, but it is pretty sweet. I was hoping for Perversion plus leather to reign in the sweetness, but this isn't really like that on me. Wet, I get a big blast of floral perfume, like a sweet gardenia. As this dries down, it settles into a boozy perfume with a sharp floral edge. The tobacco is present under all the other loud notes, rich and chewy like the note in Perversion. The floral note is still there, loud and proud. I'm not sure where it's coming from, maybe the musk? If I had to list the notes according to how this wears on me, I'd say they were gardenia, wine, and sugared tobacco. I think that this would be a great perfume for someone who wants something that smells expensive and like a floral mainstream perfume, but that's not really for me.

Wet, this is a lot of snappy black leather backed up by black musk. Black musk tends to be a a little indolic or bitter or something to me in a way that I don't like, but this black musk doesn't have that. As the perfume dries, it does become all about the sugared incense and musk. I can still smell the leather lurking in the background, but it's not very strong. The incense is soft and sweet, a little powdery. Side by side next to Snooty Bat, this perfume is much softer. The nag champa was sharp on me in Snooty Bat and there isn't a note that goes sharp here. The clove also added extra bite that isn't present in Snootier Bat. This bat might be snootier, but they are cuddly and soft when you get to know them.

Seconding that this is like Western Diamondback without the sage or sandalwood. The leather is brown and polished. I think the other batty variations have conditioned me to expect caramel, and the Snake Oil vanilla plus leather gives the impression of caramel sweetness. I really like this one. Definitely a Snake Oil for leather fans.

There is definitely something a little poopy lurking in this one. That note doesn't ruin it for me, because I went into this thinking about zombies and it's more of a sinister undertone than a primary note. It otherwise smells like a classic mossy cologne. It's a little bit sweet from the vanilla and sugar. The lavender is pretty strong at first, but after the drydown the lavender becomes a pleasant purple accent to the patchouli and moss. My skin loves to project moss, and that's what happens here. This zombie smells pretty nice, overall.

On me, this is all about the caramel musk and the vanilla. The caramel musk is really rich and yummy but I don't think it's too overpowering here. The vanilla balances out the musk nicely. I get dusty wisps of the linen, too, but it is more of a background note. I don't really get any of the flowers, the perfume note, or the leather. I hope the leather makes an appearance eventually. I've never tried Antique Lace before, but I can pick out the same vanilla from other perfumes I have.

My sample was also smoky. I don't get much sweetness or buttercream, really. There's quite a bit of spice: mostly clove backed by cinnamon and nutmeg. I said it was smoky but it's not excessive, more like someone roasted the pumpkin over a fire. When I get whiffs of this one while I'm wearing it, I mostly get the spices.

This perfume is a lot of fun! Unlike Fairy Lobster Foam, the marshmallow here is pure marshmallow fluff, no milk detected. I'm kind of bad at telling cherry notes apart, but this one is like cherry pie filling. It's very gooey and sweet, but there's more than a splat on me. The lime hard candy is more of a supporting note for the marshmallow and the cherry but it is like your favorite lime green piece of rainbow candy. I don't know that it's particularly complex, but I like it. Candy in perfume is kind of iffy for me, sometimes it can be way too sweet for my liking. I think the marshmallow really helps here to temper the sweetness for me, as weird as that sounds.

Seconding the bougie autumn candle vibes! I don't think that's a bad thing, especially in an atmo spray. The fig is jammy and sweet, but also a little earthy. There is a spice note somewhere in here, maybe that's the autumn part of the amber? The tobacco note is more like a bowl of glowing pipe tobacco than a rich pouch of chewy tobacco. It is smoky, but it's not overwhelming the other notes. Overall, it's quite nice. It'd be good to spray on your throw pillows during October.

This does kinda weird stuff on my skin and I don't know why. Wet, I get a ton of juicy pineapple. Lurking beneath that is what I am assuming is a pile of pumpkin pulp. It smells vegetal and bitter, kind of like the weird smell you sometimes get after you sneeze. After the perfume dries, I get a very pleasant coconut skin scent with no hint of the weird note from the wet stage. There's a whiff some of the pineapple sticking around and maybe a hint of pumpkin spice. Minimal throw and ends up in a pretty similar spot to many other coconut perfumes I have, but with the addition of pineapple. I am happy it doesn't just turn into a cinnamon party, which is what usually happens with any pumpkin spice perfume. Not sure why the wet stage is so odd on me, though.

Wet, this is very heavy on the patchouli and Snake Oil musk. As it dries, the gingerbread spices take over and the vanilla peeks out more. I like BPAL's gingerbread note, and that's the same gingerbread here. It's not just a blast of cinnamon and nutmeg, which turns into the same boring disaster on my skin. The molasses grounds the spices, making it smell like an actual cookie. Snake Oil goes very well with the gingerbread, but right now the Snake Oil is a bit too raw and unbalanced for this to be a favorite for me. I think in a few months, this will be incredible, especially if the vanilla gets stronger.

Mostly a cloud of slightly indolic jasmine and lavender on me. The coconut cream pie is more of a backdrop. It's very floral, but not in a way that I enjoy. Really wish this had been the same as the FWP imp with the same name. I am not a fan of indolic florals so the change was a big disappointment to me.

This is smooth white chocolate and powdery matcha green tea on me. The amber note brightens up the perfume and keeps it from being too creamy. Sometimes, the green tea veers a tiny bit soapy on me but it's not overwhelming or bad. During the dry-down stage, I also got an indolic note hanging around, but mostly it added a sinister aura to the perfume. Overall, it's nice. The white chocolate is very similar to White Chocolate and Fruity Puff-Style Cereal, so I can't help but wish for a fruity note in this perfume. It'd probably be good for layering.

The cherry is very pink and sweet and bright. There is something fizzy about this one, but it doesn't make me queasy like other effervescent perfumes do. I also get an ozone note, but the zap of ozone combined with the bubbly note gives this the impression of a cherry limeade to me. The fun and bubbly cherry doesn't stick around for too long. I don't love the plastic note, which turns into bandaid on my skin, but I also just got this bottle today so it might settle down after a while. This one was more medical to me than I was expecting! The glowing amber is more like the bright fluorescent lights in a hospital than the soft incandescent glow of a plastic blow light. Dracula working undercover as a surgeon in the hospital, perhaps. I am really in love with the cherry in this, so I'm hoping the other notes even out with some rest.

This one is very heavy on the musk on me. I'll second that it doesn't smell like black musk, but it is indeed dark. Somewhere in the musk is an incense note that is also quite strong. I think the yellow balsam is adding some sweetness. It doesn't read as candle wax to me, but my decant is a year old at this point. The leather makes an appearance during the dry-down of this perfume and then fades away into the musk. I don't get much of the mud-splattered wool at all. I don't really get hay from this, but maybe it's the musk drowning everything else out. I'm not a huge musk fan so this isn't really for me, but it is a nice autumnal musk perfume.

This is mostly a lot of peony and citrus on me. I'm pretty sure that the citrus notes are absorbing the other citrus-adjacent notes to me, like the kumquat and the pine/cypress, which can go lime on me. I do get a quiet, sweet rice note in the background and a whiff of incense from the dragons blood. This is very fun and pretty. I like trying to pick out each of the notes, and I'm sure it'll morph over time.

Wet, this smells medicinal to me. Luckily this stage doesn't last for very long. After this dries down, it reminds me of smooshing my face in my cat's fur while he's napping. Front and center is the toasted sandalwood. It's nowhere near as sharp as regular sandalwood tends to be on me. It's dry and roasty, but the rice milk and tonka give it a fuzzy sweetness. I also get some of the patchouli in the background, which seems like a more floral and less sweet and chewy variety? This isn't very sweet at all on the whole and I like the sandalwood note. This is something to wear when you want to go out on the town for the night and think about your cat at home the whole time.

Wet, this is overwhelmingly bubblegum, like opening an entire pack of Bubble Yum and shoving it into your mouth all at once. The bubblegum settles down pretty quickly, but it's still present. It becomes mostly about the milky mango juice. The mango is less milk and more juice, but it does have a kind of creaminess to it. It reminds me of Gentle Hands from this year's Shungas. The sugar syrup is also pretty strong, but I also don't think it makes this overwhelmingly sweet. The lime is more of a background player on me, but it adds a nice zing to everything. I smelled this in the bottle and got a little nervous because I wasn't sure I could handle the bubblegum, but it settles into something really fun and wearable. I liked Gentle Hands a lot and this is its fun-loving cousin.

I'm very here for all the aquatic notes. The combination of pine pitch with the other notes makes this one more atmospheric than I was expecting. With the bergamot and orchid, this becomes a very pretty aquatic. It's the ideal concept of a beach in a bottle, as seen on the Barbie movie: aqua ocean waves lapping at a stretch of pristine, pearlescent sand dotted with palm trees and sunbathers. This doesn't go into laundry territory on me, but I could see it happening for someone who's sensitive to it due to the bergamot.

Despite whiskey being the first note, this perfume isn't really boozy. I do get a spicy fuzz from the cardamom infusion, though. The fig cream is mostly a realistic fig scent, dark and sweet. The cream part is faint, but it is a bit reminiscent of the milk note from Snake Milk and Fairy Lobster Foam. I also get quite a bit of honey, but this is more of a musky honey with some funk rather than a floral honey. I don't get much of the marshmallow fluff at all, but it could be adding a candy sweetness to the whole thing. If you want a sweet fig perfume, this is for you.

Morello Cherry, Ginger Root, and Black Musk
dancingchair replied to Silvertree's topic in Duets & Menage A Trois
Seconding that this is a brighter Moon When the Cherries Turn Black. In the wet stage of this perfume, the ginger reads almost like peppery lime on me before it fades away. The ginger is still there, sweetening up the cherry, but not nearly as prominent as it was in the wet stage. The black musk is inky and dark, but it doesn't overwhelm the trio. I do really like the cherry note and I wish it stayed at the forefront for longer. Very nice, but not different enough from Moon When the Cherries Turn Black for me to seek out a bottle. Would be worth checking out if you missed that one.- 6 replies

This is very raspberry on me, which is a pleasant surprise! The raspberry oud is 99% raspberry on me, there's not much woodiness to it. The red labdanum is a strong second note, and it's quite fizzy. I usually hate fizzy notes, but this one doesn't make me queasy. I think I get some of the caramelly sweetness of the tobacco, but it doesn't come through very strong. I get the citrusy sap of benzoin, too. The only hint of carnation I get is a spicy heat lurking in the background of this perfume. This is like the perfume version of organic raspberry lemon-lime soda made with real sugar and fruit. It's got more going on than that but I think that's how I could best sum it up. I really like the subtle edge that the tobacco and carnation add to this one. These elves might seem sweet but they mean business.

Wet, this is heavy musk and sticky-sweet benzoin. The cedar is very resinous here. As it dries, the honey takes over. It's heavy, sultry, and still resinous. I can see how it could smell like baby wipes to someone, but it's too heavy and musky to quite get there for me. I've been curious about this one for a while so I'm glad I got to try it, but I'll be happy using up my decant.

Does not go laundry on me at all, thankfully. The fleece is a light, fluffy vanilla. The mascara is actually the strongest note on me, though. It reads more like lipstick to me. It's got that mix of sticky, artificial fruitiness and light powdery floral that makes me think of a pastel pink tube of lipstick.
-
This is an airy cloud of vanilla and marshmallow with the slightest tinge of resinous lemon. The musk isn't something I can exactly pick out, but I think it adds a bit more depth to the vanilla and marshmallow fluff. I really like the way the marshmallow and vanilla soften the resins while the resin notes tone down the sweetness of the perfume. The end result is yummy and very wearable! It really does evoke the image of a fluffy white cat.
