This is absolutely lovely. I mostly get the gentle coconut milk and toasted hazelnut; it's very soft and smooth. On the drydown is when the sandalwood peeks out, but it's also very mellow and subtle, but gorgeous nonetheless. I'm bummed I waited so long to try this one, because I would have ordered multiple bottles had I known how much I would like this. This one will forever be on my ISO list!

This is very chocolate-y on me! I'm not really getting anything bread-y; it's just thick, syrupy chocolate, almost like there's some honey in there as well. My skin amps chocolate though, so that could be drowning out the almond and bread notes. It's yummy and decadent but I was hoping for more bread.

Vanilla Husk, Nutmeg, & Hay Absolute
maleficentsea replied to Seajewel's topic in Duets & Menage A Trois
Everything you've heard is true - this one is lovely! Like wolf_truffles said above, this is very much a lemon vanilla tea scent. This actually smells like an Earl Grey tea latte to me! It's got the warm vanilla component of Dorian and the buttery citrus component of A Little More Tea. Really nice springtime scent! -
Yep, that's a baguette! It's a very crunchy bread in the bottle and on initial application. As it dries, the sweet cream comes out and brings it closer to Hawaiian Roll status. I love gourmands and bread scents especially, so I like this one! That being said, the "crunchy" quality is almost reading as toasted, almost burnt, bread, and I'm not sure if I like that aspect enough to FS it.

This is a very light and smooth chocolate frosting. I like it more than I thought I would, and it's not cloyingly sweet thankfully, but the throw fades quickly. I'll keep my decant!

Pleasantly surprised by this one! I've always been interested in a mushroom perfume, but they usually end up too earthy/damp on me. This one is really nice! Each note is subtle yet beautifully blended. The honey is just enough to keep it from being too musty. The incense is light yet comforting, and the mushroom is very grounding. This is probably going to be a great meditation/yoga scent, if that's your scene. If you're interested in mushroom but wary of the damp quality it can have, I'd encourage you to give this one a try. I don't know if I'll need a full bottle but I'll keep the decant!

This is a perfect coffee scent! The coffee is smooth, not burnt or bitter. The vanilla ice cream is just there to soften it; it's not cloyingly sweet or artificial at all. Truly perfect.

I get very buttery, crumbly cookies from this, with just a hint of earl grey peeking out during the dry down. I like the foodie quality of this, but I was hoping for a little more tea.

In the bottle, it's very crusty bread with honey - a realistic food scent, but would it make a good perfume? I say yes it does! On my skin it mellows into a soft, silken honey with a touch of soft bread in the background. Very soothing for those of us who love creamy honey scents!

I am so, so lucky I received a bottle of this recently. Mircalla is just as beautiful as I had hoped, and beyond. Sometimes red musk goes really strong and bitter/medicinal on me, but not here. Everything is blended so well that it's a beautiful, snuggly scent. It really envelops you in a warm, seductive embrace, and it lingers like a smoldering fire long after initial application. I tend to amp vanilla and frankincense, so that seems to be serving me well to keep it from being too herbal. On a personal note, this blend has quite a lot of sentimental value to me: Carmilla is one of my favorite works of literature, and I've had the great honor to play her in a recent radio play adaptation. This blend will be deeply beloved and cherished by me for years to come. If the lab ever makes a re-issue of this...that would be amazing.

This one has really transformed for the better with three months of aging! Initially, all I got from PSL was bitter, burnt coffee beans. I forgot about it for the past few months, but came back to it this morning and, oh my, has it blossomed! It's now a lovely, rich, creamy, gourmand-y coffee and pastry scent to me! I will probably be getting a back up bottle to wear it all next fall.

Spiced honey cake! This is lovelier than I expected. It's not a sugary sweet cake, as much as a dense bread sweetened with honey, nutmeg, and clove. I can't wait to wear this during the holiday season!

I took a chance on this one, being unfamiliar with most of the notes listed, but I'm so glad I did! It is a beautiful, warm, autumnal fragrance. It never veers into chimney/campfire territory - I think the hint of pumpkin brings just a touch of sweetness. It's so good!

This is lovely! I have never smelled Snake Oil, but I adore what's in this blend. It is sweet and sugary, but not cloyingly so, and there's a hint of deepness to it. I think it's going to age beautifully!

I see why people mention getting honeysuckle from this. I'm not getting anything related to butter or cream, but it's a light and pretty scent which makes me feel like I'm lying down in a meadow on a warm June day.

At first, this is a strong hay cologne on me. I will say, the longer is stays on my skin the more the vanilla comes out, sweetening it just a tad. It is a really nice blend, just not quite for me. I think anyone who adores masculine-leaning colognes and dusty atmospherics will love this one! EDIT: This was my review from the first decant I received, which I'm now thoroughly convinced was mislabled: I wanted to love this! I'm not getting a single of the notes listed...maybe I got a mislabeled decant? Why am I getting watermelon Jolly rancher with this one?

On first whiff, I absolutely adore Obatala. I'm a sucker for creamy coconut/shea scents, so, this felt like an obvious blind buy to me. Unfortunately, about 15 minutes after application, something weird shows up...I suppose it's the aquatic note? It isn't bad, but it feels discordant and sharp and funky compared to the cozy warmth of the shea and coconut. I think my skin just doesn't do well with aquatics.

I absolutely love Bastet. Like others have said, I do get a strong cherry scent on initial application. It transforms into a luxurious and warm almond amber scent on me and lasts quite a while. This scent is warm, glowing, seductive, and extremely feminine to me. It feels very powerful, so I don't wear it every day.
