Starts off all cedar and smoke, outdoorsy feeling. Dries down into something like a bitter, woody incense with resin 'aftertaste'. I'm really liking this.

Deer Moon: Caramel and Dark Musk

I end up with incense on this one. A sweet, back of the nose one that's giving me scent memories of this place I'd shop back in college. And it sticks around on my skin that likes to eat scent in 30 minutes or less. Gorgeous on it's own, and I can see layering this one with a variety of things. (Already found it goes beautifully with the petrichor-ish Golden Tobacco and Beeswax in the same Lunacy)- 2 replies

I was wary of this one, as I'm not usually a fan of fruit scents. But the layering blends had me rethink it and get a decant and...wow. There's this Strawberry Shortcake doll that's been given a witchy makeover and hanging in the back of that cool little herb shop in your college town. It takes a moody backseat to the layering blends I'm trying so far, giving them some depth and that bit of sweetness. Big win! Even bigger one is that my decants arrived juuuust in time for me to order before they go away.

Initially, it smells a bit bright for that 'midnight sea'. Plummy, but bright with the ginger and florals. It darkens as it dries and I'm getting more of the lilac. Then clove takes over a bit (I seem to amp it...which is fine, since I love clove scents) and it's a lovely floral clove over spicy plum kind of thing. I keep huffing my wrist, which says I should probably pick this one up.

Ajevie decant. In the vial after a month-ish, it's orange and a bit more viscous than most, which really hits the honey and tangerine notes visually, which I rather like. Had to look up Elemi, this will show up later in the review. In the tube, fruity/musky. The tangerine is juicy, not citrusy. Mint isn't around. Wet: Luscious, sweet, juicy. But this is that warm sweet of honey vs. the sharp and cloying of sugar for me. There's something cool hitting the back of my nose that could hint at mint. Drydown: OK, so besides slathering, I like to test with some applied to a bit of wool roving and dropped into my bra. My skin tends to eat scents fast, so it's a reliable way to get it to stick around in a spot where it'll waft scent up regularly. So on my wrists the drydown is delicious musky with a bit of the juice and honey, which has me definitely thinking of the scent/taste of a kiss after someone has eaten succulent fruits. Wafting up, there's the elemi...resinous with a hint of something citrus, with the resin throwing a bit of menthol that was reading as mint (I think). It's blended so well and ends up just delicious. Tucking it into the pile that needs a full bottle.

In the bottle, all the nutmeg. Wet: still a lot of nutmeg with something floral and warm behind it. Dry: The nutmeg calms down to add that warm spicy note to the amber with the rose as a dark floral blended in. The mix is blended really well, and the throw has me sitting in this nice cloud of spicy, floral amber. I think I'll need more of this.

I've recently discovered that I love clove scents, so had to try a sample of this one. In the bottle I'm hit with the ylang ylang and then clove, not getting the sugar as an extra note, more just an overall sweetness. I love the way the clove sticks to me on drydown, with the ylang ylang behind it hitting the back of my nose. Right next to my skin the floral is stronger with that spicy clove alongside. Lasts a while with the floral fading to become kind of a mild accent on the sweet clove. This is a keeper for me, and I want to try layering with some ginger-forward scents when we head into autumn.
