    Hungry Ghost Moon 2006

In the bottle: Green and fruity. I can smell the vanilla, ginger and grapefruit. Wet: Wow, really sweet - sugary. Quite foody. The sandlewood and musk add nice depth as they emerge. The vanilla is not cloying, and usually I find vanilla does not work for me - so I'm very pleasantly surprised. It's a very natural vanilla. Dry: The sweetness is fading a bit, it's not so overwhelming. I really like the musk in this. It's a particularly delicious musk. Summary: This is definitely one where I keep sniffing my wrist. It's a wonderfully complex blend, and it holds quite well. It's amongst the most delicious foody/sweet perfumes I've ever smelled. Unfortunately, it's not really what I'm going for, but it IS very nice. If only it were a touch less sugary-vanilla-foody.

    Honey Moon

In the bottle: Cool lunar oils, with honeyed spice, maybe some woods? Wet: Really cool, almost minty herbal. The honey is much milder. Some heady florals too. The jasmine is emerging in full force (sigh); the gardenia is lovely but not amping as much as the jasmine. Dry: That minty-herbal-woods must be the thyme, and the spice is definitely ginger; the notes are more distinct now. Okay, the dreaded jasmine is fading (though still present, and going a bit soapy), the thyme and honey are coming out majorly...total surprise! It's resembling Litha a bunch right now, but more floral. Summary: Thyme, honey, mint, and ginger - in that order. The florals are virtually gone, or at least indistinct. There's almost some woodsy musk lingering too. The thyme is definitely the strongest note in the long run. Good lasting power and decent throw. Surprisingly NOT that honeyed!

    White Moon

In the bottle: Woodsy-floral, a bit heady. Wet: Clean, almost soapy. More-floral heady, but overall, this is not a very strong oil. The lilac is coming out and it's quite nice. Dry: Powdery lilac. Summary: Never any hints of musk, and the sandalwood didn't come out for me. There was also some floral scent I didn't like from the beginning - I think wisteria. Yes, I later learned that wisteria = powdery doom.

    Erato

Sniffed in imp: Sweet and slightly powdery; heady florals. The rose, ylang-ylang, orris and sweet pea are all distinct.

    Et Lux Fuit

In the bottle: Sweet; fruit and spice over florals. Wet: Much the same, but spicier (carnation and maybe cinnamon?) and more floral. Still very sweet. Warmth - must be the amber. The vanilla musk is lovely and quite strong. The blend of florals evokes a field of wildflowers on a sunny autumn day. I'm not really getting any ylang-ylang which I'm thankful for. Dry: The honey really amps on me over time, but the other notes stay too. This is one of those complex, well blended oils. Great throw and lasting power. Summary: Honey, amber, and musk, touched with carnation and wildflowers. Alas, amber and spice make this not for me.

    Long Night Moon

In the bottle: Green, fresh lunar oils with some heady florals. Wet: Greener, nicely herbal in an almost medicinal manner - ah yes the thyme. The florals are sweeter. The mint has come out but it's light and well blended. The moonflower is making this clean, but so far, not soapy. I think the cereus explains the 'heady' floral note. Dry: Clean minty-herbal with faint white florals. This has dried down very nicely. Summary: Clean, cool lunar musk with light herbs and flowers. Good throw and longevity.

    Pink Moon 2007

In the bottle: Very sweet and fruity, with a hint of spiciness. Wet: Less fruity, but still quite sweet. I can smell the telltale lunar oils. The spice is coming out - carnation, yay. This is not nearly as floral as I expected based on the description, and the fact that I amp floral usually. The florals in this are very delicate; appropriately, I would call them pink. Not white, because those are stronger and more classic. I'm definitely getting a straight up sugar smell, reminding me of cotton candy. Dry: An herbal aspect has emerged, and I can detect the honey too. Hmm, this is going a bit old-ladyish on me. Summary: Faintly floral sugar. Not my thing.

    The Ghost

In the bottle: Ethereal, green-white florals. Feminine, fresh, with some greenery. Wet: Similar, though within seconds the iris starts to amp, making the scent headier. Fortunately, the ivy note is now distinct; very green and fresh and aquatic. There are some spicier florals, carnation maybe? as well as what I can only describe as wildflowers. Dry: Very slow drying oil. The heady iris (and I think orchid, too) has not amped further and remains tolerable, and the green, green ivy and spicy floral notes keep this fresh. There's a mild, sweet herbal-floral note too that recalls Blue Moon 07 - perhaps the delphinium? Summary: Slightly heady iris, orchid and white flowers, over fresh, lightly sweet greenery and lively wildflowers. An outdoorsy scent, evoking flowers and ivy in a shaded glen. Recalls both Blue Moon 07 and The Passionate Shepherd to His Love. Doesn't make me think of ghosts; it's too corporeal and alive a scent for that. This is also the FIRST Ars Moriendi scent I've really liked!

    Chaos Theory III: Strange Attractors

CT III: CCCXL - 340 In the bottle: Slightly sweet, green floral. Wet: More floral. Violets. Something fruity, citrusy or pineapple? There's a slightly warm, balmy feel to this. Dry: The floral has gone a bit powdery, and there is definitely some jasmine in this. Maybe some amber, too. Some sexy musk has emerged. Summary: Powdery jasmine and violets over musk and amber with a hint of tropical fruit. Previously reviewed by graycat. CT III: DXIX - 519 (previously reviewed first by suileach here and most recently by karen over here.) In the bottle: Rich orangey-amber colour. Juicy fruit, herbal with a slightly bitter edge, and a little woody. Masculine, fresh. Wet: Juicy fruit, a bit sweet and a bit tart - ahh, ripe crisp red apple with a hint of green undertone. Maybe multiple types of apples. Planty-fresh greenery, with all bitterness gone. It's like being in dew-laden apple orchard just as the apples have ripened. Dry: Slow to dry. Amazing how this has gone from sort of a masculine herbal scent to a feminine fruity one so immediately. There is a breeziness too, a hint of ozone that's not sharp but like a gust of fresh air. Later: It's gotten tarter, as if the sour green apple note has amped while the ripe red apple holds, and greener, fresh leaves and wet grass and a hint of a rounded woody scent, like oak. Summary: Some light mulling spices emerge (clove, allspice), and the oak deepens making this a darker, woodier scent overall. But both green and red apples hold strongly as do the planty-fresh leaves and grass. Amazing throw, good lasting power. This was the best apple scent EVER until the damn spices came out. CT III: DCCXXV - 725 In the bottle: Very strongly green and planty; grassy. Wet: Still green-grassy, but less overwhelming - it's a lighter scent on my skin. I detect some flowers hiding under the mounds of fresh cut grass. The green is so strong, it has a bitter edge. Dry: Sharp-heady florals are gaining ground...white florals with a soapy tinge. I'm thinking there is both Hyacinth (which I like) and Armoise (which I don't like) in here. The grassiness fades almost completely, but an aura of green plant remains. Summary: It reminds of both Privilege and The Gibbous Moon, in the green-white-sharpness. Pretty decent throw. I had to wash it off though, as it flared my rosacea and made my head pound. Last reviewed by mtlaise. CT III: DCCCLIX - 859 In the bottle: Sharp, green, fruity. Melon? Wet: Grassy-melon, with something spicy underneath - clove, perhaps? I don't usually like clove, but this works pretty well. Dry: The clove has taken over for the most part. This scent evokes the autumn outdoors, now. Summary: Not a bad scent, nicely balanced, but not my cup of tea. Previously reviewed by zenvodunista. CT III: DCCCLXXIV - 874 In the bottle: Light fruity floral, maybe some citrus - the zesty sort, so possibly grapefruit. A bit green and planty, possibly grassy. Overall light and fresh. Wet: More floral, very springlike. Lilac? Tulip? A hint of powder, but not unpleasantly. I'm guessing that citrus is grapefruit, which is as usual very light on me. And there is definitely some grass. This has a soapy edge, and reminds me a bit of Amsterdam. A rainy sort of scent. Dry: Wow, this is the grassiest bpal scent ever! Could it be grass SN? No, there's still some very present springy florals. Definitely some lily, I recognize the one (or one of them) from Black Lily, and other light feminine ones. It's a wee bit soapier, but not really powdery, so that's fine. Citrus holds! Faintly, but amazingly still there. Later: Whoa, hello musk! Very nice musk! White musk, perhaps - I'm getting a Kitsune-Tsuki feel here. It's not super strong, but it really grounds this rather ephemeral blend. Grass is holding, flowers and citrus too. This has gained a creaminess too, which makes me think maybe daffodil is one of the florals. Summary: Very light grass, grapefruit, and florals (lily and daffodil, amongst others) with a light musk base. Little morphing other than the musk emerging over time and the citrus holds. Feminine, vernal, refreshing, aquatic. Dismal throw but good lasting power. Yay! Finally one I love and it's a bottle! Previously reviewed by Nightbird.

    The Clod and the Pebble

Sniffed in imp: Patchouli, cedar, clove, sandalwood, a wee bit of rose. Dry, dusty, earthy and woody. A little spicy.

    Chanukkiyah

In the bottle: Pure caramel! Extremely foody. Wet: On my skin, it's actually much less sweet, and the beeswax and amber dominate. I quite like the beeswax, as it's much like my beloved honey, but it's still too sweet and foody and warm a scent for me.

    Budding Moon

In the bottle: Green and sweet-fruity. Wet: VERY sweet and fruity, with lunar oils underneath. Mmm I love lunar oils. Strawberry, definitely berry. I think that's the lotus root. I should avoid lotus root, because it's way too sweet for me. Dry: The floral is coming out a bit, definitely peony. If I really stretch my senses, there's a spike of ginger underneath. The musk is very very light; I wish it were stronger. Summary: Fruity-floral. The overwhelming sweetness does fade, and the floral amps, but it's still too sweet and fruity for me.

    Buck Moon

In the bottle: Really fresh and almost aquatic. Cucumber and crushed new leaves. I see green. Rain in a springtime forest. Wet: Less sharply green, though still very plant-y. It dries super slowly, but is not that strong an oil on my skin, though it was in the bottle. There is more warmth to it now, though I still can't smell the musk. Dry: Woodsy, almost smoky - dark and deep. The musk finally emerged. Now it's like a summer forest at night. Summary: Dark, earthy, musk. I don't usually go for dark, but this is quite nice - sexy. Would be awesome on a man. If you like this, try: Robin Goodfellow

    The Black Swan

In the bottle: Salty-aquatic, astringent-herbal, fresh, a little floral and a little sweet. Wet: Gentler, less astringent, and more floral. A little soapy. Not sweet. Dry: Faint; fades quickly. A somewhat traditional, slightly herbal floral aquatic. I find it soothing, and there's an almost waxy honey scent underlying. Summary: Incredibly faint; almost no throw or lasting power. Clean, slightly soapy floral aquatic. It's nice, but not amazing enough to justify its lack of potency.

    Black Moon

In the bottle: Light, aquatic, but musky. It smells very familiar...ahh it reminds me of Gibbous Moon. Wet: Floral, in a soothing, feminine way. It has depth and warmth - I think because of the orchid. The musk is really, really delicious and grounding. I'm getting hints of pear, but this is not a sweet oil. This smells LUXURIOUS - refined and well balanced. Dry: Wow, my skin has really amped that orchid. This primarily orchid-musk with layers of other yummy things. It's quite heady. I only dabbled the tiniest bit - very strong throw with this oil. It's morphing more! Cucumber, and other fresher notes, are emerging. This is a truly amazing blend. Summary: Herby-cool-cucumber-orchid-musk. It's a cross between Buck Moon, Blue Moon, & Gibbous Moon. It went from smelling like GM, to BuM, back to GM, and then to BlM.The lunar oils really emerge after about an hour. I just can't believe how this one keeps morphing. I love the later stages but the strong orchid for the first hour is unfortunate - orchid doesn't seem to work on me.

Sniffed in imp: Sharp and planty, with dust, linen, and musk notes. Masculine.

    Arachnina, The Spider Girl (2006)

In the bottle: Slightly sweet resin and incense. Hippy-ish, a bit bitter. Strong. Wet: Okay, softer and less incense-y. Lilies and musk and the patchouli is playing nice. Still a little bitter. Fairly faint! Dry: Lilies and other flowers over light patchouli, strong musk, and that bitter note. Much stronger than when wet. Summary: Slightly bitter, spicy musk and patchouli with hints of floral. I don't think I like poppy.

    Zombi

In the bottle: Dark, rich soil, wet green leaves, and a hint of lush rose. Wet: Fresh, fruity, almost citrusy rose - reminds me of Rose Red, especially combined with the same dewy greenery. Slightly soapy edge. Still loads of dirt. Dry: Some oakmoss emerging, and the dirt is fading a bit. The rose is softer, but still crisp. On the whole this is much more muted, washed out. Later: I have a friend who gets a mushroom note from this, and I can see where she is coming from. There is a musty note that's not soil - maybe the spanish moss? Summary: Lush fruity rose - but a soft kind - with musty spanish moss, light oakmoss, and slightly sharp, rich dirt. A gentle scent.

Sniffed in imp: Sweet, dusty incense. Hints of heady ylang ylang and citrusy-fresh neroli.

    Thanatopsis

Sniffed in imp: Sweet pine, juniper & other evergreens. Black musk, maybe? Wet: More mentholic and strongly woodsy, less sweet & musky - though I like that the sweetness comes from musk, not the pine. Nothing bulies. Dry: This reminds me greatly of a pine body wash I had once from Crabtree & Evelyn, in a good way. Manly camping scent, and much nicer than I expected. Later: More juniper and sweet black musk over time, with a slightly citrusy edge that suggests cypress. I also get an earthy moss note, and smoky dark edge. Summary: Sweet, rich black musk with light pine, juniper, cypress and oakmoss. Clean, deep, and earthy without a distinct soil note. Masculine. Decent throw but fades quickly.

    Tanin'iver

Sniffed in imp: Sweetness, cinnamon, and maybe something else kind of spicy? Hint of incense and clean floral too. Too sweet/incense-y for my tastes.
