Another thumbs up for Scherezade. This one came as a freebie imp with my order of The Atrocious Attic. My first impression of it right out of the bottle was an intriguing, spicy-smoky-sweet scent. I smell reeds, vanilla or benzoin, and opium smoke among others. I was a touch disappointed as it went on wet as a very sharp, soapy scent. After 15 or 20 minutes, I noticed a sweet scent wafting around me. I sniffed and thought, "What's that?" Sure enough, it's Scherezade. She's morphed very slightly and isn't quite as spicy as she is in the imp, but gorgeous nonetheless. Like others have said, Scherezade's a sexy scent. I think she's going on my 5mL wishlist and will probably be a regular wear.

Mata Hari has been my first big disappointment. As an older teen, I loved Mata Hari's story and semi-idolized her. I wanted very much to love her scent namesake, but we just didn't agree. Wet, she's all coffee and roses. Like others have said, the coffee is sour and made me a little sick at my stomach. Dry she becomes another too-heavy rose scent without many other identifying notes.

Where Snake Oil by itself did not work for me, Dorian works wonderfully. I think it may become my primary vanilla scent. It starts out a light, incensy vanilla in the imp. Upon first application, I get the tea and vanilla, and I also get the citrus note that a lot of other people have detected. That dies down fairly quickly and leaves a rich and milky vanilla with an undertone of tea and hints of musk. It smells quite a bit like vanilla-flavored rooibos tea (one of my favorite teas): a warm, sugary, winding-down-at-the-end-of-a-long-day caffeine-free scent.

Passion, sensuality, romance, sexual sensitivity. In the imp, I smell non-descript florals. Lovely but not standing out. First impression on me is ylang ylang (I suppose, not familiar with it) and also something like jasmine or honeysuckle. Something faintly rose hangs in the bottom of this scent, maybe it's the combination of the two aforementioned florals. The dry down is quite similar, but my skin starts to tingle and a spice pops out. Alas, I was not awake for the completely dry aspect. I used Seduction as it was intended--to seduce, that is--and while I did enjoy myself (and DH himself), I'm not sure how much this scent affected us. Nevertheless, it is really beautiful and I did feel very womanly as I wore it. As far as colors go, I'd say it was a dark rose. I will definitely repurchase.

Got this imp from a decant circle (many thanks). In the vial: it's very deceptive of what's to come. Watery orange blossoms. On me, wet: a cacophony of various citrus fruits and flowers, plus a strong kick of clove or some other deep, spicy substance. Someone else mentioned Tic-Tacs.. to elaborate, it smells the way orange Tic-Tacs taste. Dry: The fruits fade away as they always do on me, leaving a lovely, odoriferous aura of orange blossoms a day away from falling off the tree and the faintest touch of clove. Something is going a little powdery on me, but it's definitely bearable. Overall: Very good. I'm going to wear it a few more times before I make a final decision, but even if I don't buy a whole bottle, it's a gorgeously feminine scent. I think I'm feeling energized..normally I associate flowers with more of a calming sensation. We'll see!

This is touted as a masculine scent, so I chained my husband do-- err, asked him nicely to try it on for me. In the imp: very fresh, the fir and a resinous scent are the most prominent notes. On him, the fir and resin remains but the sweet clove takes the front seat and a faint citrus tang develops. It sweetens up his skin very nicely and freshens him up for hours. He seems to like it alright too, but he tends to be noncommittal when it comes to perfumes. I can appreciate it though, and the only reason I wouldn't wear it on myself is because I'm not a huge fan of piney scents. Maybe for him if he doesn't have any qualms about it.

In the bottle: pure, fruity apricot and smooth vanilla with the barest hint of ginger. On me, the scent doesn't change too much. I smell mostly the apricot and vanilla with some dry, bitter ginger in the background, which is odd because my skin loves to amp florals like jasmine (and I'm not complaining, I enjoy it). Nevertheless, this is a very juicy scent: not terribly complex, would make for a fantastic body wash/lotion but works fine as a daytime perfume. It has an average throw but it smells divine for hours. Probably will become one of my standbys.

This scent has some emotional meaning for me, between coming from the Deep South and suffering several losses in my family recently. To sum it up concisely, it is a light and tenebrous scent, like shadows at dusk. In the vial: it gives the impression of being stiflingly floral. It starts out sickly sweet, almost making me throw-up. Probably an apt beginning for a perfume named for the processes of death. On me, wet and dry: The unnamed florals immediately (thankfully) tone down and let the earth, Spanish moss, bourbon, and the barest hint of magnolia and vegetation take the forefront. It actually reminds me of the end of September, when the heat starts to dwindle and there's the faintest chill after the sun goes down. I really wanted to love this scent and I do. It won't be every day, but it will be frequent..especially in the fall.

A brilliant, ethereal scent: white musk, bergamot, heliotrope, peach and oakmoss. I seem to have a habit of being the first poster of a each page, but anyway. In the bottle and wet, this is very odd to me. There are peaches obviously, but I smell anise as well. It isn't unpleasant but I'm not sure what it could be. As it dries, the peach and I think heliotrope amp up and linger for a very long time. I feel like a human incense burner the way this scent wafts on me, but Fae isn't incensey, just a fruity floral. The oakmoss and bergamot give it a bite on my skin, and the musk is the bottom note that lasts for a full day and then some. I'm another of Fae's converts. It's beautiful and I see it becoming my stand-by scent. In fact, a 5mL is coming in my next order (which should arrive tomorrow or Thursday, yay). Thumbs up for Fae!

An expression of love, adoration, and desire, of beauty that transcends mortal desire and piques the interest of hell itself: attar of rose, calla lily, palmarosa, peach blossom, wisteria, rice flower, and black musk. Even though the rice flower interests me and is such a rarely-used scent, I never would have picked this out for myself. In the imp it almost has an astringent quality. Not bad, just very herbal. Wet, it starts out as the same. So strange.. almost smells like Noxzema. I think I smell the attar of rose and perhaps the black musk. Acrid. Dried, it's a very pretty and subtle scent up close, but my skin apparently likes the calla lily and so I have a lovely, billowing aura of calla and peach blossom around me for several hours. The rice flower makes it go slightly powdery, but not in an unpleasant way. Despite the first notes, it's a gentle smell, one that I might equate with my mother or grandmother. Since this has similar qualities as Cottonmouth for me, I don't know if I'll buy a big bottle, but I'll keep the imp.

I had very high hopes for this one. In the bottle, it didn't seem to be living up to my psyching. It has an intense woody smell and not much else, no depth. On my skin, the same thing for a while. Just the woody cassia, which isn't unpleasant--it's just so dry smelling. After it dries and hints of the vanilla and ginger shine through the cassia and cinnamon, it really is lovely. It seems to last a good while, and out of the cinnamon blends I've tried (Bengal and Wrath), it is hands down the most truly-cinnamon. My hopes were pretty much satisfied after all. Definitely purchasing at least one bottle.

Snake Oil with linden blossom, calla lily, passion flower, and narcissus. First review (for me)! In the bottle, this is a very, almost cloyingly tropical sweet. On my skin, it turns into a tropical florals with a hint of sweet vanilla and a sharp green undertone. It's a beautiful smell. The scent "aura" is long-lasting (and the scent itself has lasted close to 10 hours on me so far) and has a great throw. I was three feet away from my husband when he started sniffing me. Only complaint? I think this is far too exotic a smell to be named after a United States viper, but it certainly has an aggressiveness and bite like its namesake. Going on my "to-buy-when-I-have-disposable-income" list. Very lovely, I'll have to make sure I stock up before Carnaval Diabolique disappears. Edit: included description.
