One of these days I'll learn my lesson and not sniff the bottle. Hollywood Babylon started out way too tootie fruitie for me. It was all strawberry and made me feel like I should redecorate my house in a Strawberry Shortcake theme. Thankfully, Hollywood Babylon grows up. And how. As it dried it lost the sugary little girl feel and became grown up...wanton. I've often made jokes about being the Whore of Babylon and I imagine if I WERE her this is what I'd wear. Its sweet enough to draw the bees to my honey, and then naughty enough to ensnare them in my clutches. I think this may be a good scent for seducing the boyfriend. Rawr!!

It never ceases to amaze me how scents have a psychological effect on people. I've always been a big fan of incense since I was a little girl attending high mass in a big catholic church. There are certain scents that immediately shift my brain into a place of sacredness. Incantation does that...and more. Its deep and dark, like a moonlit grove on a crisp Samhain night. Its a scent that beckons me to lift my arms to the sky and draw power deep into myself, reveling in the greatest of mysteries. I cant stop sniffing my wrist, closing my eyes and wishing myself away to my astral grove. I'll be doing some serious magick with this creation, Beth! I didnt think I'd find something I love as much as Kali, but I think Incantation is rocketing to the top of my list!

Powerful, commanding, blazing with strength. Fantastic!! Its divine on my skin but I think it would be even more fantastic as a room scent during ritual. Makes me feel all mysterious and powerful...yummy!

I am still new to the wonders of BPAL and I knew this scent was pretty popular. I added it to my Wish List and resolved to look for an imp to see for myself. I was a little hesitant when I first sniffed the bottle. It was a little too heavy on the musk and I was afraid that wouldnt jive with my skin chemistry at all. When I first got into BPAL I was told to always try it on your skin no matter how bad it smells in the bottle. Initially on my skin it went right to that hideous soapy smell. Oh noes!! I resisted the urge to run to the sink and wash it off. Thankfully this scent does what many BPAL scents do and it morphed. Heaven!! It definitely reminds me of the smell of an old occult shop I used to frequent way back when. This was an old store that had so many books they were literally piled from floor to ceiling. The rows were so narrow you had to squish yourself down them but if you were persistent enough you'd inevitably find a treasure. This scent is a treasure. Wonderfully mysterious and feminine. Love it!!

I got this as a frimp in my recent order from a fellow BPAL'er and I'm glad she sent it my way. In the bottle its almost overwhelmingly strawberry fruity smell. Like most BPAL scents it morphs once it hits my skin into something completely different. The strawberry is still there but its dropped into the background. I'm getting a more spicy floral scent with just a hint of strawberry to sweeten it up. Mama like!! I can envision Jessica Rabbit wearing this scent while she's telling us she's really not bad, just drawn that way. I can be naughty AND nice wearing this one! And that suits my little Gemini heart just fine...

I was really hoping for a sexual, sexy scent. In the bottle and wet on my skin, I thought "I can do this"....and then the inevitable happened. On the dry down this settled into that god awful soapy smell. It doesnt send me running to the bathroom to wash it off, but its not for me. Ah well...off to the swaps with you!

Even though its not listed in the ingredients, I got a definite warm nutty scent coming through when I first applied Nyx. As its settling down I'm getting the jasmine/rose blend. I'm not a big fan of rose scents because usually I find rose turning into bad old lady scent. Pity. I love roses, but it seems impossible to find a scent that smells like the fat blooms in my mother's garden. The longer Nyx is on me, the more I smell rose...and the less I smell jasmine. I wish it were the other way around. Off to the swaps with you!

Dearest Lilith, I had such high hopes for you. Sadly when I sniffed the bottle I nearly gagged. Not one to be daunted by this I forged onward fearlessly and tested you on my skin. blech!! Wet you are like Juicy Fruit gone bad. After settling on my skin you morphed into nasty old lady rose smell. I know you're the first woman and all...but did you have to go there? I'm very sorry to say this, but I dont think we can continue this budding relationship. Off to the swap pile with you in the hopes you'll find someone to be kinder to than I. At least I have Kali to console me...

In the bottle and when its first applied, this is a very sweet and soft floral scent. Reminds me of honeysuckle in that soft womanly way. As it dries and settles on my skin I get more of the green scent. Initially, this doesnt go the way of other green scents on me. It doesnt turn into that sickeningly cloying scent of soap. The orchid keeps it smoky and sweet. Makes me feel like I'm standing in a green meadow after a warm spring rain. However, after about 30 minutes I start getting that god awful soapy smell. ~sigh~ And I so wanted to like you, Phantom Queen....

Like many of the other reviews I was almost afraid to try this one. The scent from the bottle was so strong and earthy I thought there would be no way I could pull it off. However, the hippie in me loves patchouli so I ventured boldly. Wet its every bit as strong as sniffing the bottle. I resisted the urge to run to the bathroom and wash it off. As it dried it definitely toned down. Its been on around 30 minutes now and its settled into a nice warm patchouli. I'm still not sure I can pull this scent off. Patchouli is traditionally a masculine scent but even my boyfriend thought this was too much patchouli. It may work better as a room scent on a cold winter night. On a night where I'm missing the scent of warm earth after a spring rain. Its a keeper but not one I'll look to slather on every day.

Call me a market driven ho, but Kali's description was the very reason I wanted to get into BPAL. It could smell like my cat's litter box and I'd go for it. I was tempted to just jump right in and get a big bottle but my boyfriend, ever the sensible one, insisted I get an imp..."just in case". It took a bit of hunting before I saw someone offering up an imp and I jumped on it like a bulemic on a twinkie. OMG I lurrrrrve it! I'm rather surprised by its lightness. By the description and other reviews I expected something a bit "darker". Kali is very sweet. It smelled of sweet night blooming flowers in the bottle and on my skin. I can get a little bit of the honey on the dry down but none of the tobacco is coming through for me. Its definitely sexy and very feminine. I can see myself wearing it and seducing my sensible boyfriend on a hot steamy Texas night. I may have to drag him out to the woods to have my naughty way with him.... This one is going to the top of my "Dear Santa" list!

Black Tower, oh how I love thee.... Its dark, its sexy, its spicy. Its one of those scents I just cant stop sniffing my wrist in public. On me its yummy but on my boyfriend its positively intoxicating! I definitely need to add this to my Big Bottle List. I think I may need TWO bottles so I dont have to share with the boy!
