    Monster Bait: Tokyo Stomp

In the Imp: NOMNOMNOMNOM definitely thin mints. I LOVE mint notes though so this is like a dream. Wet on skin: The vanilla pushes through a lot more once it reaches the skin but the mint keeps it from going into warm, baked goods. Both notes are strong but work together to create pure deliciousness. Dry: Yep this is absolutely amazing. Why oh why oh why does it have to be an LE? I want buckets of this! Buckets!

    Marie

In the Imp: Sweet greenery. Pleasant but leaves me a little timid. Wet on skin: Wow. I normally hate green and floral notes but this blends into something really beautiful. Dry on skin: This dries into something utterly feminine and gorgeous. It makes me feel completely elegant and regal with naughtiness hiding under the surface. Amazing!

    Ophelia

Aquatic rose to the millionth power! For me that scent amounts to lurking through a hot swamp in South Georgia which is fine in the wilderness, but not what I wish to smell like. It is pretty close to what i would imagine the famous Ophelia painting to smell like if I was in the scene, though. Just not for me.

    Swank

I love pomegranate but Persephone's rose killed the scent for me, so I ordered Swank in high hopes of a nice, fruity scent for the end of summer. In the imp it's a beautiful pomegranate scent with a boozey background that gives it a kick, not a "drunk in the Hamptons" kind of smell. I can definitely detect more alcohol as it begins to dry on my skin but the pomegranate remains the fore runner. It's such a perfect, refreshing hot weather scent. I'm starting to think that the only way for me to wear fruits and not have them turn to cleaning solution is to have an alcoholic base, oddly enough. Much, much love for Swank!!

    Creepy

In the Imp: Yum, totally caramels and apple juice. I've never sniffed an apple note and I'm very pleasantly surprised! Wet on Skin: All I can smell is apples. Period. It's nice but I'm really hoping for some caramel to come out and smooth out the fruity. Dry Down: Sadly I never get any sweetness except for the initial sniff in the imp. I was really hoping for this to be my signature Fall scent, too!

    Eclipse

In the Imp: Sweet almonds with cinnamon in the background. This was included as a frimp in a swap, and I have to admit I'm a little hesitant to try it! Wet on Skin & Dry: Cough dropssss! After today I officially know that almonds are a no-go for me. Shame because I love how they smell while they're cooking!

    Eden

In the Imp: HELLO NUTS. For me this is all nuts, fruit, and greenery. Which I guess is how the garden of Eden would smell! Wet: This smells like a girly cocktail. It's sweet, fruity, with a hint of booze in the background. Almond, maybe, steps back for about five seconds then comes back again full force. Dry: Sadly it is all nut. I enjoy eating almonds and having them as background notes, but smelling like exactly like 'em isn't my style.

    Centzon Totochtin

In the Imp: Most people seem to get hit initially with the chocolate but it's all booze when I sniff it. A sweet, fruity booze (I know it's wine but it smells a lot more alcoholic) with a touch of cocoa in the background to smooth it out. Wet on Skin: Yep it's all wine. All of the other notes seem to be getting sucked into my skin because the scent starts fading quickly as soon as it starts to dry. Dry: Where did you go?! I can smell something on my skin but it's mostly alcohol. There's a faint, itsy bitsy amount of cocoa in the background so it just took a full circle back to how it smelled in the imp. Sorry, bunnies, off to the swap pile!

    Baghdad

I looove this in the imp. It's exactly like a Middle Eastern market place and I couldn't wait to slather it on. Unfortunately without vanilla sandalwood seems to turn into powdery wood chips on my skin. Then it gives me a headache! Woe. I'll test it out as a room scent and see if that gives me a headache as well. It's rough when a scent doesn't live you back as much as you love it!

    Djinn

This is a truly sinister scent. The smoke isn't the smell of friendly campfires or chestnuts roasting on an open fire, this is the aftermath of a burned down apartment building, a train collision, or uncontrollable wild fires. It's an angry, deep, dark, and almost metallic scent. I think wearing this would scare off everyone in a ten foot vicinity, but it's amazing how well crafted this scent is in regards to the stories of the Djinn. Not for me, but many props to BPAL for putting this together.

    Blood Countess

FINALLY a Diabolus scent that likes me back In the bottle there's oodles of floral with an undercurrent of spice. It's beautiful and feminine with a deadly edge. I'll never cease to be amazed at well oils can convey a story. Plum comes out on my skin during the wet phase then fades into a spicy, woodsy aroma. This is actually one of the few scents with hints of wood that doesn't smell masculine to me. I can definitely see the comparisons to a craft store, in the best way possible. Although it's a craft store of demons Lovelovelove Blood Countess.

    Rapture

Rose and.. metal? This is probably the most ambiguous review I'll ever write but something in this absolutely REPELS me. It's metallic, dirty diaper, and an after glow of sex all mixed into one oil. Definitely not for me. This is one of the few BPAL scents I've had to wash off immediately!

    Miskatonic University

If my personal heaven were bottled up in oil form it would be Miskatonic University. Sitting in a library with a cinnamon roll, coffee, and booze. I agree with the other reviewers who talked about the supreme morphing power of this as well. The wood/book scent comes out a lot more on the skin but the sweet coffee smell keeps it from getting the dusty, shop room smell. This was a frimp someone threw into my order and I am SO GLAD. It wasn't even on my radar/wish list originally but holy cow

    Blood Pearl

In the bottle: Deep incense and musk. Not as overpowering as a lot of musks thank goodness. Wet on skin: Same as in the bottle except it's so light I can hardly detect it. Dry on skin: This is way too "new age" shop to me. I'd be into my room smelling like this though. Eh!

    Jailbait

In the bottle: For me the cherry lollipops take center stage even over the bubble gum. This smells like my childhood in a bottle. Wet on skin: HELLO THERE BAZOOKA BUBBLEGUM. This really is like sticking your whole head into a kid's trick-or-treat bag. Yet surprisingly, I'm not repulsed. Dry down: I'm going back and forth between agreeing with the description (candy on adult perfume) or that bubble gum medicine we all had to suffer through as kids. Unfortunately the medicine has won the battle with its new friend scented plastic in tow. To the swap pile!

    Gluttony

In the imp: This is one of the most appropriately named scents I've come across. It's sickeningly sweet (in the positive, licking icing off your plate kind of way) with intense notes of butter, sugar, coffee, and hazelnut. Wet on skin: Immediately the butter comes full force but fades into a nutty coffee scent. Still pretty yummy. Dry on skin: Other than the Candy Butcher all of the sweet smells I've tried have about a ten to twenty minute interval of pure nail polish remover. It's really annoying because I LOVE foody smells and want them to love me back. Once that passes Gluttony settles down into a chocolate coffee that's pretty but not as intense as I expected considering the rush of sweetness that wafts from the bottle. I'm still iffy on whether or not it's a true keeper.

    Monster Bait: Underpants

In the bottle: Yum yum butter rum! Wet: Oh this is sweeeet and delicious. It's boozy, creamy, with swirls of vanilla and caramel. Dry: This is incredible. Sweet, gorgeous, and sexy. Now to try and track down a big bottle. Woe!

    Kumiho

A lovely lady sent me this in a welcome package making sure to mention how much she LOVED it. When I read the description I was really nervous. Ginger and I are sworn enemies in scent and in taste. However this is BEAUTIFUL. I smell mostly tea with ginger has a background note which is perfect. This is why I love BPAL, you really have a chance to expand your horizons.

    The Dormouse

In the imp: Crisp, clean citrus with white tea holding it up in the background. Wet: The tea really starts shining through immediately and a melon note has overtaken the citrus. Dry: Subtle and pretty but not really my style. Citrus notes just don't seem to work on me in oil form like they do in mainstream perfume form.

    Nosferatu

When I first opened the bottle my immediate reaction was freshly cut grass. As it lingers on my skin I can't pick out the notes because I'm not used to earth scents, but this really does smell like how I imagine Nosferatu's house to smell. It's damp and green yet I keep finding myself going back to sniff my wrist. I might have to wear this multiple times or try it as a room scent. I love the way it smells but I don't know how I feel about smelling like it. Hmmm.

    Lyonesse

Oh this is smooth and tasty. In the bottle it's like a sweeter version of Antique Lace with the vanilla and cream in the forefront while florals are only a slight lingering note. Upon first applying it continues with the deep, liquid vanilla but as it dries the floral and amber smooth it out to a perfectly blended beautiful scent. It's sexy in its elegance. Quiet and 'lady-like'. I love it

    Fairy Market

In the imp: Lots and lots of floral! It's beautiful and delicate though, no potpourri! Hooray! On: Lavender! Florals! Sweetness! As it dries this really blends into every note mentioned in the description. This is the first scent I've tried where I can detect small traces of EVERYTHING but close up they blend together beautifully. Just like a market. I wish I had had this in April because it seems like an amazing Spring scent. I'll definitely be keeping up with this one.

    Vice

In the imp: Yikes! I smell no chocolate, cherry, or orange. I don't know what exactly I'm smelling but it's very acrid and just plain weird. Oh well I'm always willing to give BPAL a skin test no matter who it smells like in the bottle. Wet: What issss that? Some of the orange is starting to come through but there is still something weird that I can't put my finger on. Dry: Yep. Still the unknown weird chemical-y scent. This seems to vary A LOT between bodies, more so than most. Unfortunately it hit my nose and body and headed for the hills.

    The Candy Butcher 2006

A simply lovely fellow board member sent me this as an introduction to foody scents. In the imp: WHOA COCOA There's an almost nutty feel to it as well but it could just be the fact I'm smelling rawer cocoa instead of milk chocolate. West: Oh I can TOTALLY smell the nail polish remover that someone mentioned. Luckily this hits you hard for about five second then quickly fades. This is a really deep scent that seems to get earthier and earthier. Dry: ..where did you go? All I'm left with is dusty remnants of what started off so intense and strong. Like smelling the bottom of a hot cocoa canister. Except for in the imp I'm not really getting the typical "YUMMY WANT TO EAT" response. It's almost like gnawing on cocoa beans in the middle of the jungle? You definitely have the chocolate but with lots of earth tones. If I can convince this to last longer I think it could be a nice winter scent.

    Mata Hari

Oh gosh. Stale coffee in the imp and wet then dirty diaper on the dry down. This is the only BPAL scent so far that I've almost scrubbed my skin off to kill the scent. I don't know what note it is that made it go so sour on my skin but eeeek. Off off!
