Dekejis

Paysage is an unexpected surprise hit for me from the Yules this year. With opium as the first note listed, I expected it to be similar to other opium-based scents that I have; not so. It is warm (i'm guessing because of the bourbon vanilla, but it never comes across as vanilla to me), dark, a bit smoky and blackened, with just a hint of herbs in for good measure. The herbs on me pick up just a little in the mix on drydown, but the whole thing is well blended. It's toasty, comforting, a little exotic and perfect for winter.

What a really interesting blend. I'm not so great yet at picking out notes in blends, but I'll do my best. This is fresh out of my mailbox, so it might settle a tad over the coming days. In the bottle and on wet, it's tobacco. I've ordered several scents recently featuring tobacco, and have had a hard time picking out what part is actually tobacco, but I think this is it. Nice! After it sits for a few, I'm starting to be able to pick out a nice light orange which plays well. I'm getting the barest hint of something warmer, which might be the vanilla, but it's very well hidden in with the other notes. As it's drying down, they seem to slowly meld together and the vanilla rounds out the other notes. I'm not sure what myrrh smells like, so I can't pick it out specifically. I can pick out the faintest hint of cinnamon now, the orange has backed off into the background, and the vanilla lends a bit more warmth. In the end, it all just melds together as a sweet, warm tobacco with just a hint of spiciness. Overall, it's very lovely. It's light, as another person mentioned, meaning for me it's close to the skin without a ton of throw. To be fair, it's fresh right out of the mailbox, so might pick up a little strength as it settles. I like throw in a scent, so for these scents that like to play it close, I will run some through my hair, so I can catch whiffs of it through the day.

This is quite an interesting and (like the others have said) complex scent! In the imp, it's sweet and golden and just a bit floral. On my skin, the sweet fades a bit, although I get hint of something that is just a little citrusy. I think I also smell a bit of the opium coming on as well, along with the sandalwood. As it's drying, the smell of leather picks up. and blends in with the opium and sandalwood. The floral, fruity and sweet notes seem to have disappeared to the background, taking the edge off the leather. Once it's dry, it's a dry, slightly smoky masculine opium and leather; smooth and exotic. Lovely! I'll have to try this a few more times before I decide if I want a larger bottle or not, but I'll definitely be enjoying the imp.

Woot! My first review ever! In the imp, I think I'm picking up a bit of the mint alongside a nice warm, sweet caramel. On, the nicotiana starts picking up and this becomes a sweet tobacco, backed by the caramel and a hint of mint. The mint is definitely cool and blends perfectly with the warmer notes in this blend. I'm a bit of a cigar afficionado, and Beth's tobacco notes are to die for. This is definitely one to check out if you liked Hearth, which is one of my all-time favorites. Both scents are worldly and masculine, but where Hearth is warm and cozy, Incubus is more outright sensual and mysterious. This would be a fantastic scent on a man, and to me, it just exudes raw, heady sexuality; mysterious, seductive and a bit dark. Yum. Now I just need a really hot guy to slather it all over. As it dries, the notes begin to blend together, with the tobacco toning down a bit to melt into the other scents. If I sniff my wrist I don't pick it up nearly as strongly, but I'm still getting whiffs of it as I move around. I may have to pick up a bottle of this, masculine or not. It's delicious.
