In the bottle and for the first 20 minutes or so, this is a very fresh, clean scent, without being soapy. It reminds me of a rainshower, and then the sun comes out. Kind of like that smell, but definitely not an aquatic. After awhile, there is a very CKish stage, not really my cup of tea, (I don't like most CK perfumes) and I'm beginning to write this one off. HOWEVER, this only lasts another 20 minutes and after that watch out!! This is pretty much Illustrated Woman meets Mead Moon. This blend dries down to something quite lovely. It is citrus without being sour, sweet without being cloying, and sexy without being brazen. I get the beeswax, skin musk, and something citrus, though I'm not sure what that would be. It is a warm, inviting and "close to the skin" scent. I'd probably wear this more in the spring/summer.

Yay, A spring/summer Red Musk blend! This is so soft and pretty, even with the red musk (and the name, and the label, and the, well, you get the picture!). This kind of reminds me of Spawn of the She Demon, but instead of the fruity addition to the red musk, its the whispy floral. It reminds me of something else, but I can't think of what it is. Grrr!! I love this, though I was humming and hawing for a long time because rose and I don't get along. This is not an "in your face floral", so even floral haters may enjoy this. The clove gives a nice touch, and it not amping on me, which clove sometimes does. A WIN WIN WIN!!

Like other reviewers, I find this to be a feminine version of Perversion, which I adore . I do find Dia to be quite fresh, however, unlike Perversion. I love the tobacco, and the amber just makes this scent glow. It's very sexy without being "out there", if that makes sense. There is a perfumey note in the first half hour that I find kind of annoying, I think it's the musk, but it burns off quite quickly. The coconut just adds a sweetness to round this off. Perfect.

This kind of reminds me of Red Rose, but whereas RR's clove tones down on me, this one amps up. Unfortuneately, I don't get any note BUT clove, *sniffs again* ah wait, I think there is a bit teak here, but very faint. The clove is a bit too masculine for me, however I really want this to work, as I love some of the other notes. I think I'll cellar this one awhile before I give up on her. I'm normally a spice girl, but this is just too much. Stupid skin chemistry. My eyes are also itchy tonight. Maybe it's just a coincidence.

In the bottle and on, this smells like caramel. Not a good sign. After a bit, the caramel changed to vanilla, and the oakmoss tempers the sweetness somewhat. I really love ginger, and I don't get any of it. This actually smells pretty good on me, but I don't know if it IS "me", a little too sweet. I may cellar this for awhile and hope that the spice comes out more. eta: I'm liking this more and more, I'm gettting a spicy creaminess as time goes on. I though Red Ginger was supposed to be very strong, but maybe it's a milder ginger. I do believe this is better suited for cooler weather. A mild foody blend with a bit of spice. Nice!!

Chaos Theory V: Recursive Self-Similarity v1
milo replied to awesomeoverlord's topic in Limited Editions
In the bottle, rich milk chocolate and a touch of Dorian. On, the Dorian is very bold and musky. It seems stronger than my aged Dorian, more musky and less creamy, and oddly enough less citrussy tea. The milk chocolate is poking through, and I could swear there is a bit of spice in there, maybe it's just the Dorian. I didn't think I'd like the combination of Dorian and Chocolate, but it seems to work here, like a more foodier, hot chocolate Dorian, rather than tea as a base note. So far it's two for two with my Chaos Theories! Excited to try my last one! Ha! I just got the opportunity to try Candy Butcher, and it is the exact same chocolate in this Dorian than CB. It pretty much dries down to CB on my skin, but with a bit more of Dorian's vanilla note. -
This is the second Stardust scent that is not working for me, Fairy Market was the other one. I love most of the notes in TWQ, so I'm a little puzzled why this is a miss. In the bottle, I get a sister of Mme Moriarty, plummy, perhaps a bit more spice. On, the florals take the center stage and amp the hell on me, along with some strong incense. The result is a blend that is just too perfumey for me. The plum shows up, and this is the first time that it has smelled fake on me. Arrgh, off to swaps with ya.

In the bottle, this is uber sweet foody, I don't get any violets. On, it is pretty much Faith to me, which is nice, I was just expecting a bit more creaminess. After awhile, the chocolate pokes out off and on, and it's not white to me, but like a milk chocolate. Half an hour later, I'm getting more of the creaminess that I was hoping for. This is a "warmer" Faith now, and would be great for cooler weather.

I think the number reads XXV. Straight from the bottle, this is the juiciest, lush Raspberry. I used to make a Raspberry Cordial, and this smells just like that, the juiciest and freshest raspberry. On, some mint comes into play, and a bit of the sultry snake oil pokes through. I am sooo excited over this blend, what a nice combination for summer!! Kind of reminds me of Australian Copperhead meets Green Tree Viper and they have berry, minty babies. Sounds odd, but it really does work!!

Oooh, this is a good one! First impressions are a light, musky floral with glowing amber. The florals smell fresh, though not dried, which makes this blend unique to me. There is a bit spice, but not spice, if that makes any sense. Fresh Chrysanthemums actually smell a bit spicy to me, and there is supposed to be cinnamon, but it really is quite muted. I love this, and glad I got two bottles.

Plum blossom, vanilla sandalwood, nutmeg, and wild rice. Is it just me, or is this reminiscent of Tiki Queen? The notes are not the same, but this really smells like gardenia and a bit of spice. Maybe my nose is broke. A cloying sickly sweet floral. Off to swaps with ya!

This is smoky and woody in the bottle. On, this is a very masculine, woody, strong citrussy but warm scent. My son has a CK perfume that smells very much like this, I think it's Sport, or something like that. I can see a very hot guy wearing this, with a black shirt, lean but muscular, jeans. Like a CK guy, Yeah! I think I'll pass this on to my guy.

In the bottle, there is a strong berry scent with a bit of sharpness, which I'm guessing is the paper bag. On, I'm not liking the paper bag, but I LOVE the creamy berry, there is also a bit of spiciness here!! Yes!! I wish the cognac would come out a bit more. This is very yummy, though I don't get any cognac or leather yet. I love both notes, but as a background. This would be perfect without the paper bag scent, but otherwise, this blend is FANTASTIC! This will only get better with some age.

This is very nice on! It smelled quite sharp in the bottle, but it's turning out to be a baby version of Snake Oil to me, with a bit more amber and floral orange blossom. For a bit, it was quite soapy, but that faded after about 10 minutes. I didn't really mind it too much at this stage, but glad the soapiness disappeared. The only complaint I have, is that it is one of those "close to the skin" scents, and fades pretty quickly. I'm betting some age will take care of this. This is a very spring-like, feminine scent without the floral, and more work appropriate than Snake Oil to me. If Snake Oil doesn't work for you, this may. Definitely a Keeper! eta: About two hours after application, I get a sultry tobacco, and it is blooming to a more stronger scent. Not sure what this would be, as I don't think there is tobacco listed, kind of like a toned down, sexy, sultry Perversion. Very yummy.

Mmm, this is sooo delicious! I get the Hellion comparison, and this will do very nice in place of it, thank you very much! This is yummy plummy incense. I thought it was too foody at first, but it has mellowed very nicely. It is slightly more fruitier than Hellion, but all in all, very nice. Wish I got two bottles, but just happy I have the one for now!

This smells very perfumey and foody in a bad way on me. I'm discovering that I don't like ambergris, as I smell the same note of doom in Glukoprikos. The musk is too strong, and I had to wash this off and put something else on, as it just wouldn't go away even with washing twice with soap and water. For those of you who like ambergris, you'll get it here.
-
OK, so I've heard comparisons of Makanaitis to Hellion. I haven't tried Makhanaitis yet, but this one is pretty close in FEEL to Hellion, in fact I may even like it better. They don't actually smell the same, but I get a fruity, spicy incense from Couples, even though there is no incense listed. Couples to me has the same vibe, but different fruit and incense, which may be the combination of the sandalwood, mint and orange blossom. I didn't think this would work on me, so I didn't get a bottle with my Lupers. I just received my decant today, and now I'm wishing I sprung for at least one bottle, damn.

Yum, a foody incense blend, I love it!! At first, this is vetiver/foody and not very pleasant at all, though I'm not sure if vetiver was a listed note, maybe it's the husk? Kind of woody. This quickly fades, and a beautiful, coconutty incense develops. This positively glows on me, and am very glad to add another incense love to my list!

Rose, rose and more rose. Kind of an overly sweet one, with a sour edge. Unfortuneately, I don't get any spice. Roses rarely work for me, and this is no exception.
-
This isn't as sinister as it sounds, I thought this would be an aggressive blend, but it's actually quite faint. Not sure why I'm not getting any leather, really this blend just smells like a faint whiff of smoke, some copper, with a bit of pepper. If it smells like anything, maybe an old garage that hasn't been used in awhile. Not for me or my guy.
-
This is like opening a vacuum sealed bag of THE most expensive tea you can buy. There is a touch of citrus and maybe a bit of aquatic as well. This would be the perfect room scent for a hot summer day. Very crisp and cooling.
-
Hmm, I thought there was a jasmine note here, but it must be the plumeria. I thought it was jasmine and fruit, I just didn't know what the fruit was. This is a heady floral, with sweet, sweet fruit made even sweeter by the champagne. This smells like a drink that would give you a nasty hangover, kind of like Baby Duck. Not for me.
-
Hmm, I thought this would be a lot darker. Wet, I thought this was all vetiver, but there is none listed. It dries to a slightly sweet, woody, incensey blend, which I really like. It is quite similar to Silas Ruthyn, but with less opium. Unfortuneately, this is a fast fader, but a definite win!

Ugh, strawberries do not work on me, and I had high hopes for this one as I love effervescent scents. But there it is, the Bonne Belle chapstick from the seventies that my sister used to eat on me. I bet I would have been all over this one then!
-
Ha, I'm gettting better at identifying notes! Wet, this is a very fresh, light floral. It dries to a citrussy rose to me, very much like Lush's Amandopondo, and quite similar to Hope from CD. This is a good thing, because Hope one of the few roses that works for me, and I love Amanopondo. I'm very excited , this is a great GC, and I know where to go when my beloved Hope runs out!
