    The Anti-Saloon League

This really isn't at all what I was expecting. I find this to be a more masculine, spicy Haloes, not as creamy or as complex as Haloes, though this one is certainly multi-faceted in it's own right. My expectations were basically a rootbeer float, but I don't really get root beer at all. This is very masculine, and definitely not me. Off to swaps. I am quite hormonal right now, so maybe I should give this another shot in a few days as my impressions are quite different from others.

    Omen

Masculine, sharp, kind of musky. It kind of smells a bit 'dark', and 'mysterious', to me. After a bit, Omen becomes sweeter, but still has the biting edge to it. I'll certainly wear this when I'm in the mood for a dark blend. It kind of reminds me a bit of Panther Moon, and other dark musk blends.

    Baba Yaga

At first, this is a perfumey, musky mess consisting mostly of florals. As it dries, it is more of a spicy/herbal and less florally. There is the metallic tinge to it too, which must be the iron. Not bad, but not really me. It is certainly much better on dry down than wet, but I don't need more than the imp.

    Chaste Moon 2010

These florals are kind of difficult to identify. At first, they're heady like jasmine, then I'm thinking iris as the blend is starting to get powdery as it dries. After a bit, it starts to get fresh and watery, kind of nice actually even though I don't usually like aquatics. Deep in the back, I think I get some creaminess that I wish would come out more. I think this will be nice in the spring when I want to feel feminine.

    Titania

Candy like fruit, through and through. Like a jolly rancher, only I can't tell what the fruit is. *peeks*, ah, OK, pear and grape, but pear seems to be the most dominant note here. Not a fan of most fruit scents, so this one is out the door.

    Metal Tiger

This is very orangey in the imp, not surprisingly. On, it is still a beautifuly, citrussy orange. It kind of reminds me of Tang, though not in a bad way, as I like the smell of that fake orange drink. After a bit, it threatens to go to powder for a few minutes, but then reverts back to it's sweet, orangey self. I don't get really any other notes but the orange here, though that is perfectly fine with me. There may be a bit of musk, now that I think of it. It kind of reminds me of Spinning Metallic Pinwheel, too, though without the fizz. This is nice, and I'll certainly use up the imp when it's warm out, which are getting more and more scarce.
  7. Vanilla #323 Seller describes this as 'lemon and woods', and she is pretty much on the money. I also get some warm vanilla in the background. The lemon fades on me after about half an hour or so, and we're left with a vanilla woody blend, (perhaps a slightly smoky wood) that reminds me a bit of root beer, though with muted sassafras, if that makes sense. Kind of like those soda pop candies you can get, the root beer ones is what this smells like. Sassafres is a kind of wood isn't it? Which would make sense as this being the type of wood that is in here. I haven't made my mind up about this one, I'm getting picky in my old age of bpal, and I have to love a blend to keep it. I do like this, especially how it is drying down, and will see how it settles over the next little while and make a decision then.

    Saturnalia

In the imp, this is all about the vetiver, and I'm almost too scared to skin test. It is pretty strong vetiver on the skin for awhile, but gradually fades into a watery violet, with just a touch of vetiver. I don't mind this, though it really is off-putting at first, kind of a 'naughty' violet, like Faith gone wild one night at the carnival, and got with Wulric, Doc and several others, then had a shower.

    Liberty

This ends up being a sweet, beeswax/honey blend with a bit of resins. It kind of reminds me of Sarah Pezzini and Banned in Boston, though not as sexy as either of those. Since I have both SP and BiB, I really don't need any Liberty, though I do kind of like this.

    Transeo

This ends up being watery cologne resin on me. I wish the orange blossom showed up, but no. I really haven't smelled a Bpal blend quite like this, it's neither dark or light, masculine or feminine. It's just kind of bland and boring.

    Bocal de Sang

Wet, this is VERY ripe fruit and a bit of spice. It is when the fruit is almost rotten, but not quite, like it is just starting to ferment. Pretty nauseating. Dry, it's more like a DBR blend to me, not as sweet, (but more sweet than I normally enjoy), bit powdery with some cinnamon thrown in for good measure. It kind of reminds me of the candied fruit you can get around this time of year, sweet fruit soaking in their own syprup and starting to ferment. Half an hour later, the fungus note of doom appears on me, which I'm pretty sure pom does to me, and possibly other fruits. This is so wrong on me in many ways. I do enjoy other wine blends, but this not at all similar blends like Gluhwein or Zadok Vineyard, scents I do enjoy. I'm sure someone else will like this, just not me.

    Tin Foil Hat

Wow, this is cologney to the max! At first, it is quite sharp, but then dries down to a creamy, citrus aquatic, very wet and clean. At first, I didn't like this, but as far as aquatics go, this is pretty nice, kind of gender neutral. I really like the creamy lemon vibe I'm getting. This is nice, though it's really not my style. I may use it on really hot days to cool off, though these have become few and far between.

    Kyoto

This ends up being a lovely fresh floral on me. Surprising, as I don't think I've ever liked a blend with Cherry blossom in it. This is a great spring/early summer scent, and I'll certainly keep my imp for those times.

    Joyful Moon

Hmm, this is quite pretty, and I wasn't expecting to like this as much as I do. This is a fresh, slightly rosy delicious vanilla. It really reminds me of Under the Harvest Moon, a blend that was available last summer around this time only with more vanilla. I think it's the combination of rose is what is making these two blends similar for me. I'm contemplating an ISO, depending on how the rest of the wear of this is, though I do have a decant of UTHM as well, and I don't wear it very often. Decisions...

I don't usually go for strawberry blends, but this one is so fruity and fun, and I like it quite a bit. This is basically strawberry vanilla syrup, very sweet. This is another blend that I find close to Velvet Unicorn and Plastic Pink Flamingo. Still, it is juuuust a bit too sweet, and I wish I detected the musk and woods, though this is probably the first strawberry blend that I like. Maybe the musks and woods will come out a bit later. A little bit goes a long way, and I'll certainly enjoy the imp while it lasts.

    Charisma

As for scent, this is a citrussy, fresh incense. It kind of reminds me of Faustus. It doesn't really change much from wet to dry, though it may get a tad powdery As for intent, I was really to busy to notice, and I wore it out for only an hour or so. I did notice a couple of glances, but nothing out of the ordinary. I'll have to try it on a social occasion and review it for intent then.
  17. Amber #27 Wow, this is truly amazing, I wish I had more than the imp of this! Wet, and in the imp, it's kind of a fresh amber with a resin, possibly frankincense? It almost smells a bit citrussy from the freshness 10 minutes in, this is pretty much a dead ringer for Zenobia. The freshness is gone, and it's more sweet resins at this point. After half an hour, I'm thinking that I smell Snake Oil, but now it's a warmer, amber Snake Oil oozing with some kind of sweet vanilla musk. The closest Snake it reminds me of is Western Diamondback, so maybe there's some tonka here? I'm in LOVE and if anyone from Jen's circle doesn't want their #27 Amber Chaos imp, you know where to find me!

    Peace

I've been kind of anstly and somewhat down lately, so wanted to try some Peace to see if it would calm me down somewhat. As for scent, this is kind of medicinal and a bit resiny, not really digging the smell of it, but we'll see how the effect is. After a couple of hours, I'm not so antsy, but still kind of down. I remember I had an imp of this a couple of years back, and it seemed much more effective. Will update if any changes. So I tried this again, only just before going to bed. It seems to work better when you are still, and not busy doing household things, for me anyways. Not sure if it brought me what I intended, as the experience was strange to say the least. I did feel kind of 'high', just before falling asleep, and there were 'light' energy waves going throughout my body. If anyone has had a Reiki session done on them, it was just like that. After I felt myself leave my body, I got scared and washed it off. I did have a great sleep, and maybe this was just what I needed to find peace. I'm pretty sold on the powerful effect TAL's have.

    Lotus Moon 2010

At first, this is citrussy, fruity lotus. Kind of like bubblegum, but nicer as the citruss tones down the sweetness. I'm guessing the tartness is from the pomegranate. Dry, the lotus and pomegranate disappear on me, and the opium comes out. BOO, as it's quite perfumey and not in a good way. I like lotus, so was looking forward to this, but unfortuneately the incense just overpowers everything here.

    White Light

I can't believe I haven't reviewed this! I am now on my 2nd bottle of this powerful TAL and never want to be without it. As for scent, it is a white floral to me, quite pleasant. White Light got me through a difficult time in my life when I was ill and scared. It soothed and reassured me that everything was going to be alright, and it was, eventually. One interesting note, the very first time I used this, I had a very realistic dream where I was stuck in a place where I seen many people I knew that would come in and out of wherever I was. Even though it was flat ground, it felt like I was climbing. My sister came into my dream and said I was stuck in the 8th dimension. I have never heard of this 8th dimension anywhere and googled it. Here is what the first hit was: "eighth dimension (if we can call it a dimension) has no limitations at all. It transcends and pervades, beyond nature yet also fully present". Kind of neat.

    Bastet's Laughter

A freebie empty from a TAL circle! There was a couple of drops, so I put burned them in my tarts for the afternoon yesterday. I did try the oil on my solar plexus, but it felt like my insides were being ripped out, so I washed it off right away. The scent in the bottle is kind of appley fruit, though with a bit of floral. As for intent, I have been procrastinating cleaning my basement, and finally got down to it yesterday afternoon while the candles were burning. I found two things that I had lost for a long time, an ambulance receipt that I couldn't submit to my extended health for reimbursement, and my bottle of TKO that was missing for several months. I did feel more calm and intent on my job, as well. Later that evening, I managed to get on LJ at the right time and got some Banshee Beat, a scent that I've been lusting after for awhile. So that's three cool things that happened to me yesterday, just by being at home. These things may have happened anyways, but yay for a great day!

    Banned in Boston

This is definitely a keeper for me! I get a musky, honey sweet, tobacco, which doesn't change much from wet to dry. This screams sex and really does smell 'dirty', but in a good way. It's kind of a daredevil, carefree blend, and makes me want to go out and do naughty things.

    Hunter

At first, I'm getting amber and though skin musk isn't listed, I'm getting a bit of sharp musk. Maybe it's the sage? Whatever it is, it does fade as the oil dries thankfully, as I'm not a skin musk fan or anything that smells like it. The amber also takes a back seat, and a soft leather comes out. This ends up being a unisex soft leather and a bit of spice. This kind of reminds me of a more feminine version of Crowley, though a guy could probably pull this off. I kind of like this, as long as the leather behaves and doesn't go to mushroom on me (like some softer leathers do to me), I may get a bottle, or at least another decant.

    Gun Moll

At first, this is very traditional cologne type blend, I'm not liking it so far. As it dries, it gets quite hard to describe, as noted above. The cologne is gone, and we're left with musky, dark feminine incense, but now overpowering at all. It definitely morphed into something quite lovely and mysterious. I will certainly treasure my little bottle of this. eta: The above being said, I'm not sure this one is for me after all. It just seems so sophisticated, vampy, little black dress-ish with blood red lipstick on. I could see myself wearing this for a night out on the town, but not much else.
  25. #370 In the bottle, this is a foody, buttercream frosting. Dry, a smoke comes out, and I could swear there is a touch of leather here akin to the leather in Clockwork Couture Female. The vanilla and cream have faded into the background, but still provide a mellow sweetness to the blend. This really reminds me of Liz, a blend I'm not fond of, as I really don't dig smoky blends. I'm sure someone else will certainly enjoy this, though it is not for me.
