No additional scent description. To me, this smells like a manly, and sandy, version of Florida Water. So yes, this has bay. And laurel, and water. And it smells clean and magical because anything even remotely Florida Water like to me (which probably means orange blossom) smells clean and magical. Medium throw and wear length.

Sometimes when were constantly under assault, be it by destructive legislation or online trolls, the cruelty we endure or bear witness to can start to wear on our souls. This oil is used when you feel your spirit flagging, and the temptation to capitulate to anger, bitterness, resentment, or cruelty looms on your horizon. Purge and protect yourself from the hate, and rekindle the fires of your own compassion. When they go low, we go high: ambrette seed, frankincense essential oil and tears, steam-distilled bay laurel, saffron-infused myrrh essential oil, palo santo, steam-distilled styrax, and angelica. This oil on a conceptual level, is basically the inverse of Honey Rose 45. Where that one is to gain a sense that we are not alone in this, that there are still people that are creating daily mitzvahs in the midst of oppression, this is about our own compassion and resiliency. I see them as two sides ultimately of the same coin, and the feelings I experience from each of them when engaging bears that out, as does the scents they happen to transmit. If Honey Rose points to the port in the storm, Virtus reminds us that *we* are the fucking port. From Honey Rose I experienced almost a melancholy, a weepiness of feeling others connect and hold me in their invisible net. Virtus instead galvanizes me, makes to want to spin nets of my own, protect those that are spent and despairing and to do so with a level of integrity that is well-neigh untouchable. The weepiness is replaced with the kinds of tears that spring up when I'm enraged at the levels of injustice I witness daily and motivates me to fight back and fight HARD. Normally, I can't wear oils with myrrh, I amp it, it becomes baby powder on me and is generally unpleasant. But the myrrh here mixes with the woods and the other resins to create something rich and earthy without being dirt-like. It's grounding and grounded and reminds me that ultimately the truth will set us free. When they go low we go high, indeed.

While creating a 4lb mother bottle of Snake Oil, I had a brain fart and accidentally dropped honey accord, extra patchouli, and dragons blood into it. While it is another Horrible Error, I figured that it might be a Horrible Error that some people might enjoy. So wet and early dry down this was sort of cola like syrupy deliciousness but now is hitting me with some heavy patchouli, but not the dirty hippy kind, with just a hint of dragons blood. A bit of perfumey sweetness that I would bet might be the honey accord over the sugared snake oil. This is patchouli forward, but it is fresh from the mail and not the long dry down. I will try to update with long drydown results. This will almost certainly age most gloriously and fans of patchouli that is not overwhelmy or head shopy should definitely try it. I myself am hoping for a bit more dragons blood! Edit: this is already drying down to a sweet mashup of patch, perfumey dragons blood and sweet snake oil. Snake oil is backdrop, not dominant, honey does not to all weird, in fact is almost undetectable to me. This has blended superbly into a fascinating and almost enchanting scent even though I *whispers* do not generally enjoy snek oil. Edit: late dry down, a well rounded almost, nutty idk hos to describe it, full patchouli non dirty, with only the lightest kiss of snake oil and dragons blood. Eta: tried my second bottle to see if there was any variation but it dried the same way, I may just amp patch (I usually actually normally avoid it in blends bc I cannot stand the dirty hippy variety, so I cannot speak to if that is normal for me.) As earlier the dry down is a so pleasant mish mash if sweet snake oilyness as a backdrop for delicious chewy patch with only the faintest breath of dragon blood.

A flash of silver, a shriek of ecstasy: gilded frankincense and indolent oud, red benzoin, temple incense, white musk, apple peel, crystallized cedar, and woody aged patchouli.

When you need to be reminded of the kindness in the world - of the small daily acts of heroism, selflessness, and compassion that surround and sustain us. Rose otto, rosehip oil, honey, beeswax absolute, honey myrtle, jasmine sambac, coconut oil, crushed rose petals and tiny red rosebuds. When I was looking at descriptions of the 45-specific scents, this was one of the ones I *knew* I needed to have. In dark times, it can be incredibly difficult to hold on to hope. Although TAL oils aren't about fragrance, I happen to be a person for whom sense of smell plays a factor in lots of aspects of my life, well beyond what perfume I decide to wear for the day. To that end, Honey Rose smells like roses, just passed their prime, wilting gently in a summer garden, surrounded by other signifiers of high summer, like errant greenery that sprouts, tenaciously, in sidewalk cracks, and maybe a touch of something more herbal, which I'm betting the honey myrtle in the mix. Whether because of this complex scent or -at least as likely- the intent meant to be invoked, wearing a bit of this on my skin conjures strong feelings of empathy but also a bittersweetness that comes from feeling gratitude when life has been especially hard. This oil is the delicious cake, home made and frosted with care, that someone brings you when a loved one has crossed over. The warm hug given by a sweet neighbor when they hear you lost your job. It's a reprieve that casts no illusions that "everything is going to be just fine so look on the bright side" but rather that in the midst of tremendous adversity, there is indeed a port in the storm. Which is intense, but a truthful solace we need.

Be patient and tough: clary sage essential oil, rue essential oil, steam-distilled vetiver root, white oak bark, and white sage from the TAL garden. I grabbed this out of instinct and didn't realize what it was until I dabbed it on. I get oak, sage, and vetiver from it as a smell. But more importantly, I get this nice earthy feel. It reminds me to both Aegis and Silva actually. It's like an Old Spice commercial. Look down. Back up, where are you? You're a mighty oak, planted firmly in the ground, and despite the slashing rain and the howling winds, you bear the brunt of the fury. You have weathered worst storms. You will weather this. What do you smell like? Back at me. It's a mix of sage, which you know drives those dark negative forces away, rue, which has been used in magical rituals since antiquity. It does wonders for your resilience, knowing you can count on yourself. Look again. The sage is now white oak bark which the mighty Jupiter himself has gifted you as protection. You have weathered worst storms. You will weather this. You will endure.

My sweetest Lesbia, let us live and love, And though the sager sort our deeds reprove, Let us not weigh them. Heaven’s great lamps do dive Into their west, and straight again revive. But, soon as once set our little light, Then must we sleep one ever-during night. If all would lead their lives in love like me, Then bloody swords and armor should not be; No drum or trumpet peaceful sleeps should move, Unless alarm came from the camp of Love: But fools do live and waste their little light, And seek with pain their ever-during night. When timely death my life and fortune ends, Let not my hearse be vext with mourning friends, But let all lovers rich in triumph come And with sweet pastimes grace my happy tomb: And, Lesbia, close up thou my little light, And crown with love my ever-during night. - Caius Valerius Catullus Osmanthus, hay absolute, ambergris accord, catnip, and Egyptian musk. This is a Cobwebby exclusive from back in 2012, and it's been six years and no one seems to have reviewed it. And since there were a few bottles on Etsy, I went ahead and grabbed it. Burial v2 starts off with a very smoky vetiver note, which calms down substantially. I get dirt... and HOLY HELL BATMAN, I am getting the same weird grapefruit note that I get from Capricorn 2004. Capricorn 2004, which is almost impossible to get your hands on, and it starts off as a weird woody blend that MAGICALLY BECOMES GRAPEFRUIT ZEST on my skin and I think it may be the aged cedar. In other words, if you age cedar for 10+ years, the citrus notes in the cedar transform to a strange grapefruit-like scent that just sort of stays around. Dirt, grapefruit dust, and cedar. Yup. So, I'm off to go score my own whole bottle.

Steam-distilled ginger root essential oil, dragons blood oleoresin, frankincense (Carterii) essential oil , juniper berry essential oil and berries, Ceylon cinnamon C02 extract, blood orange essential oil, dried orange peel, and dried ginger root from the TAL garden. It's hard to be afraid. Especially when it seems like you are dealing with a low-level fear/anxiety all the time in your life now over things that you have very little control over. This smells like a souped up gingery version of DBR. It's got aspect that remind me to Wolf's Heart.

An olfactory plushie; comfort in a bottle. Vanilla absolute, lavender buds and essential oil, red labdanum, ethically harvested white sandalwood essential oil, palo santo essential oil, patchouli essential oil, and jasmine sambac with red sandalwood bark and St. John’s Wort from the TAL garden. A lot is going on right now – A LOT – all over the world, and the upheaval is reflected in our personal lives. We’re coming out of 2018’s Tower’esque maelstrom, and many of us are still struggling to get our bearings. This small set of oils has been designed for ritual and can also be worn as perfumes because we could all use a helping hand right about now. Security Blanket was created, composed, and consecrated under the healing, calming auspices of Luna. As she wanes, may she remove the terrors and grief that clutch at your heart, and as she waxes, may she fill you with peace and tranquility. Security Blanket really is comfort in a bottle. I have anxiety and insomnia, and this week has been a stressful one, so last night, I slathered some Security Blanket on my arms before bed, hoping it would help me have a restful slumber. And it did! It smells wonderful, too. The main notes that I got from this were lavender, palo santo, and what I believe may be the St. John's Wort (it was kind of medicinal). I couldn't evaluate it beyond that because I fell asleep before it had been dry for a while and didn't get to pick up on the other notes. But it was really, really relaxing. If you're a fan of lavender and palo santo, you need this. I'll update my review if I end up being able to evaluate the scent after several hours of wear (without dozing off). I am really happy to have this, and I wish it hadn't been limited to 50 bottles, because I would grab a back-up bottle if it were still available. I will cherish every last drop. Thank you so much, Beth!

For use when all the f&*cking noise is getting to be too much. A particularly useful reset after social media, especially when you’ve read the comments. Place a few drops on a white candle and a drop on your palms and let it gooooooooo. The components include French lavender, frankincense, steam-distilled Roman chamomile and hops flower. It smells of a gentle lavender (v. Peace, which is pretty much knock-you-out lavender). I tried it at one point as instructed--dressing a chime candle and anointing my palms, and while I didn't feel a rush of peace, I did feel better afterward. I'd like to try putting this on my palms and going for a walk, since that's usually how I decompress from my day.

An oil for use when you need to banish sh*tty vibes, the residue of petty arguments, low-level irritations, and the malocchio tossed by rude randos. In some cases, this can be utilized to actively banish certain spirits, but ymmv. This blend contains angelica essential oil, palo santo, Roman chamomile, and camphor oil. A gift to St. Expedite in thanks for blessings granted. A freeform-poured perfume of amber and deep red roses, this oil was created in a moment of inspiration and gratitude and is appropriate to wear in his honor, offer as a gift, or use in ritual.

Black Phoenix Trading Post presents you with a happy accident: our line of Crimson Peak Home & Linen sprays are available for a limited time in 5ml perfume blends! We have a limited quantity of labels remaining for these bottles, so don't miss out! Heady jasmine drifting through the air, eclipsing the scent of a rapidly-drying bloodstain and the smoke of a snuffed beeswax candle. Heady jasmine indeed! I honesty cannot pick out the "bloodstain" or smoke, but do get the snuffed wax. As it dries, it becomes very close to a jasmine soliflore. As a jasmine fan, I appreciate that!

An oil for helping ameliorate anxiety and soothe nerves stressed to breaking. Wild frankincense essential oil, lavender absolute, and copaiba balsam with chamomile and jasmine flowers and peppermint leaf from the TAL garden. Cool It was created, composed, and consecrated under the healing, calming auspices of Luna. As she wanes, may she remove the terrors and grief that clutch at your heart, and as she waxes, may she fill you with peace and tranquility. Cool It kind of smells like Anesthesia, Twilight, and Three Impossible Errands had a baby. The lavender and peppermint are the strongest notes at first, and then the jasmine joins the party, with the chamomile and frankincense coming out more after it has been dry. The peppermint in this has cooling effect, but it does not burn. The frankincense ends up being one of the main players on me after a while, but I fell asleep and did not get to sniff this over several hours, so I'll update my review if I have more thoughts on the scent during future wears. I find Cool It to be very soothing, and I am thrilled to have a bottle. If it were still available, I would get more, because I have a feeling I will be reaching for this one a lot.
