Little Bird Report post Posted February 10 Wolf Moon 2024 is soooo good. It has a smooth musk and greenery that reminds me of the original Buck Moon at first. It's crisp night air (a creamy white musk?) and a sky full of twinkling stars, rolling in a bed of tulips and smelling the scent of their smushed stems, green and cool, with the sandalwood and balsam giving off a mix of dry, slightly powdery sandalwood and the scent of freshly cut trees pulled into a woodshop where furniture is being made. The beeswax gives everything a beautiful, creamy, vanilla-y beeswax sweetness at the edges and makes the scent something of a woody gourmand over time. After about an hour, the green part mostly fades away and it leaves behind the warm, smooth woods blend with creamy sweetness and still that airy, cool, nighttime impression. My brother is a carpenter and there's an edge to the wood that's caramelized and just a teensy bit smoky, which reminded me of him making furniture in the garage and the scent of wood when it's heated and cut. I expected something darker and heavier out of Wolf Moon '24, but this is bright, cuddly, and cheerful while still making me think of roaming around in the night, and I love that there's nothing sharp or overwhelming about it. "Smooth" is the word that comes into my head every time that I smell it. I also love how the duets are being done this year, taking notes from the Lunacy blend and mixing it with a new note. I ordered Balsam & Leather with the Moon because bpal's leather is a safe bet for me, but now I want Grass & Midnight Dew and the Lupine Musk and Ambrette Seed hair gloss as well, and maybe the Beeswax & Pine Needle. I think it's so cool that you could love a note within a blend, go back for a variation of that note, and layer it with the original blend to amp up certain qualities. An all around awesome idea that I'm definitely going to be addicted to, lol.
elissamay Report post Posted May 1 If beeswax scares you away, usually, you may want to give this Moon a try anyway. This is the creamiest, vanilly-est beeswax that ever did bee. I had to double-check the notes to see there wasn't any kind of vanilla here. The grass is a lovely combination with the sweet beeswax and gentle, fuzzy musk. It's nowhere near the "feral musk" I expected from "lupine;" cuddly, even. A skin scent for me, for sure, and be certain to swirl or shake before application. Mine has the coolest little blob of resiny goodness that just needs a shake to redistribute. I'd like to try the Grass & Dew with it and see how it might bump up the overall throw. Delightful. feyofthefellwood Report post Posted May 27 I know I've tried a previous version of this but can't remember how it compares to this year's . . . Anyway, this one is gorgeous. The green and woody notes are gentle and the dry-down is a creamy beeswax vanilla that reminds me a little of Snow White for some reason. I'd definitely call it more of a vanilla beeswax than a honey one.
roseus Report post Posted June 28 This is absolutely gorgeous! I get the musk and beeswax first, followed by cooler evergreen notes. It's very well blended, the notes really meld into each other. Makes me think of crisp nights and the glow of candles.
becca_s Report post Posted June 30 On me the balsam starts out quite strong but it becomes balanced by the juniper berries and lupine musk. I get the beeswax as a sweet, background. For me this is a wearable woodsy scent. Often balsam and sandalwood can take over on my skin but here I find that they blend nicely with the other notes. RoseThornAndOak Report post Posted August 6 (edited) Holy good night. What did I stumble upon? I wasn't going to get this, but after being shocked by how good Lupine Musk and Ambrette Seed HG was, this seemed like a safe bet. It's not as feral as I thought it would be. On the waft, it's a beautiful sweet, clean but rich musk, with snowy sweet Snow White vibes. There is a green/woodsy bite from the grass, balsam, sandalwood, and juniper. It's kinda like a more beeswax, musky green forest version of Snow White without the florals but also not like a Christmas tree/conifer. Not grassy though, either. Everything together creates a different green altogether. Juniper and balsam don't usually work on my skin but they're quite subdued here. It goes a little sharp on me at times up close, so it's not perfect. But I otherwise love the F outta this. Edited August 6 by RoseThornAndOak
