A Twilight Where Virtues are Vice

Recommended Posts

Honeysuckle, Moroccan jasmine, and opium smoke.

In a twilight where virtues are vices,

In thy chapels, unknown of the sun,

To a tune that enthralls and entices,

They were wed, and the twain were as one.

For the tune from thine altar hath sounded

Since God bade the world’s work begin,

And the fume of thine incense abounded,

To sweeten the sin.

Apparently, I forgot to review this a few weeks ago when I tried it. The honeysuckle is the strongest note out of the gate, followed by the jasmine, and then the opium smoke. The honeysuckle and jasmine together give me Eostre of the Dawn vibes, but then the honeysuckle is quick to fade, leaving mostly a non-indolic jasmine swirled with some opium smoke. The opium in this is not as strong as it is in Our Lady of Pain and Madrigal from this year's Lupercalia update.

I wish the honeysuckle hadn't been so fleeting on me! Alas.

There's smoke in this? Normally I amp smoke and smoke adjacent scents (like incense) with phenomenal staying power....but it's nowhere on me.

This one is all freshly watered honeysuckle and warm sweet jasmine (no screech, no indole/poop, no sour) on me from application to drydown to fade hours later.

Beautiful yellow-white floral (jasmine, honeysuckle) which does not go high pitched on me with a hint of opium incense base.

**I also usually amp smoke and thankfully this did not happen here.  This started with a green spicy floral note which I think is the jasmine.  I don't get the jasmine poop thing, that rarely happens on my skin and for the longest time I did not know what people meant by it until once--oh, okay I finally got it when I had one go outhouse in the heat on me--thankfully not here, teh jasmine is well behaved.  Honeysuckle is also present but I have to search for it.  After a short time, the opium smoke comes in support, sweet and smoky.**

***I am not the biggest florals fan but I tend to like jasmine and in combination with the honeysuckle this is a beautiful spring to summer scent.  Very nice sweet > smoky floral with a note of spicy green running through it.  I will possibly need more than the decant.***

WHOAH hello jasmine! I think jasmine amped on me before and this on application SCREAMS all that. It's fresh though, and has that same sultry feel the other our lady of pain 'fumes has. The opium smoke is sexy af and the honeysuckle adds a much-needed, soft floral sweetness to the mix.

Holy jasmine, Batman. We're flying south from Gotham. New Orleans calls for aid! Sharp jasmine/honeysuckle combo with very little smoke. Green and snappy, fresh, not indolic, I'm digging it. I have yet to find a hyper realistic honeysuckle, it is so hard to replicate in perfume. However, this is nice. Hot humid day vibes. It's stronk, I would apply less than I did. It is similar to Trumpet Honeysuckle and Lemon Bee Balm from the Louisiana duets.

This is a wonderful clean floral, and the opium adds a touch of metal, mystery, and staying power. This was my favorite of the Our Lady of Pain line.
