Jenjin Report post Posted February 18 (edited) “Perfume, not poppers!” Put it in Latin on our family crest. The contents of this 5ml apothecary bottle are certainly nothing illicit, no ma’am. Just a nice, relaxing olfactory swan dive into the abyss, under the barest pretense of home entertainment hygiene. (Please note: this perfume contains no actual video head cleaner. No alcohol, no acetone, no amyl nitrate, no xylene. It is an accord meant to mimic and celebrate the scent profile and tone of poppers without explicitly smelling like poppers or having a popper’iffic effect.) Geminirubyshoes Report post Posted March 20 I really didn’t know what poppers actually were other than a drug that used to be popular. I had to google it 🤣 This smells EXACTLY like the inside of a VCR. Like when you take a videotape out and the tape is warm and you can smell the electric innards of the VCR. I’m so intrigued but also scared to put it on.. Ok on the skin it smells dusty and almost flammable. It’s strong too. I might be getting a leathery vibe to an extent. I don’t know that I would ever wear this on a regular basis but it’s so interesting!
jiggahava Report post Posted April 11 You really smell the dusty innards of the tapes, almost a turpentine quality, or paint thinner. It's eerie how well Beth gets it. I've never had poppers but this does seem like something you would huff to get high There's kind of a dusty sandalwood? Hard to tell what the real notes are. An hour later it softens into a woody powder. Maybe a bit of iris in there? If you are wary of "chemical" smells the drydown isn't like that at all. A pleasant surprise. A little earthy and powdery, very gentle on the skin. I don't have anything else from bpal that smells like this. It is a singular scent.
atropinedrops Report post Posted May 4 In the bottle: Kinda has that weird artificial note that Fog Machine Juice has. Which is great because I love Fog Machine Juice On the skin: Very chemical smelling, my wife sniffed it and said "Gasoline". I don't think it's quite gasoline but it's definitely industrial smelling. Like it smells like hot electronics/metal with lubricant. Definitely smell leather on the drydown. It's that roasty leather where it smells warm and almost tobacco-y
frizzlechicken Report post Posted May 24 (edited) I don't use poppers so at first was going to pass this by, but y'all here in the reviews convinced me to try it because things like dusty electrical innards are all words right up my alley. Wet on the skin it's very much like mentioned above: warm electrical innards of a VCR after you've been using it for a while. You pop the tape out and smell the air...yep! There's definitely some nostalgia here for anyone who grew up with a VCR. As it dries, there's a soft, dusty musk note that remains. I also could see calling it slightly sandalwood-y. Hours later and I have a really clean musk note remaining. It's light. It's weird. I'm glad I got a bottle! Hey I’m back 3 months after the initial review to say I really love this weird and magical scent. It’s all electrical air up top and dries/fades to such a beautifully dusty skin musk. It’s fabulous in warm weather. Definitely give this a try if you’re thinking about it. It’s never strong or overpowering. roseus Report post Posted June 5 (edited) This starts off as a nostalgic VCR smell, that dusty turpentine-esque situation others have described better. As it dries down it loses that chemical-y machinery quality and is strangely pleasant, I get some woodiness and maybe leather? I feel like there's a citrus note somewhere back there as well.
