BPAL Madness!

Recommended Posts

A fragrance inspired by the buzzing prophesies of nymphs, the devotions of ancient priestesses, and the bounty of honied hives.

Wildflower honey, frankincense, olive blossoms, and cinnamon.

Bought a bottle secondhand due to its note list being quite similar to Defututa (which I like a lot). I wanted to see how different they would be and in what ways!

They are QUITE different! In Melissae I’m getting something almost like olive oil early on, as well as a slightly cinnamon-spicy note and a slightly floral note. (I wish i knew what olive blossoms smelled like, sorry, I just know I like a lot of stuff they’re in!) Then it’s a spicy savory mix of cinnamon and frankincense, it’s a lot less sweet than I was expecting.

A few hours later and the honey is coming through more. It reminds me of loukoumades? Fun!

This is one I keep trying before bed, so I’ll have to come back and update this review with more thoughts once I try it earlier in the day!

Starts off pretty straightforwardly honey, with a touch of cinnamon and florals. As the scent progresses, the honey gets a touch powdery, florals (presumably olive blossom; this does remind me a bit of Olive Wreath) come out more, and the cinnamon disappears as far as I can tell. It's a pretty floral honey with a slightly powdery mostly-floral drydown.

I am so thrilled to have a namesake BPAL, even if it's totally coincidental. This is pure lemon balm (Melissa officianalis) to my nose. It's gorgeous and far more long-lasting than I expected from this kind of scent. Gorgeous for the spring and summer, just be mindful of the bees!
