A goth awakening: waxy drugstore lipstick and clove cig residue.

This is a throwback to my aunt's lipstick from the '90s (though it was nude and not black), whose waxiness is infused with a subtle rose scent. I don't know where I'm getting rose from. Maybe it's just my skin, but something about it is vintage and familiar, while also being slightly more shadowy and mysterious than the smell of what my aunt wore back then. It's a realistic lipstick scent made slightly darker, suggesting dark lips exhaling a curl of clove cigarette smoke right outside the goth club. Does it smell like The Cure? Bauhaus? Siouxsie? The Sisters of Mercy? London After Midnight? I can't decide, but it suits all of them.

Oh this is so good! I have definitely bought more than my share of black lipsticks over the years, and I really get the wax opening. The clove is present but not overwhelming. I amp clove, so this is amazing! This is a delightful nostalgic blend. Might upgrade my decant to a bottle before they come down, if I have sufficient funds.

Cherry! Cherry? ...Huh. Cherry.

And then I get the wax note and it reminds me of the first lipstick I ever had, in 7th grade. And then there's a little warm clove underneath.

But a lot of it is that sweet scent my mind is translating as 'cherry'.

I topped it off with a little Batty Lace and it's divine. What an interesting single note! I think I'll end up blending it with other scents a lot.

In the bottle, it smells exactly like lipstick. I didn't smell any clove. However, when applied, the clove cigarette scent really started coming out. Something about it is very nostalgic because it reminds me of ballet recitals that I went to as a kid (minus the clove cigarettes). It was the only time, I had worn lipstick at that point and whatever brand I used smelled just like that! Also, it has very good throw. I really like it!

Velvety pigments and wine-darkened lips, inky midnight fruits, rich, jammy, plummy, plush malaise-as-a-lifestyle-choice kisses.

That is lipstick. Waxy, cheap cherry berry lipstick that smells like the smudged tissues at the bottom of an old purse smell. There's some clove hovering about as well.

This is exactly what it says it is. A waxy, old school black lipstick with a hint of clove to give it dimension. I sort of like it?

This reminds me a lot of Amorphous's Goth Club 1989, but less complex.

Guys, this is soo spot on. It's that orris-like waxy, dry AF black lipstick straight from the Halloween store. This used to be the only way we could get it in the early 00s without much internet. The online stores, like Black Rose UK and Goodgoth would carry similar, with some variety, but that was about it. Nowadays, there's all types of black lipsticks with varying tastes and fragrances, but this is the old school black lipstick with a hint of clove cigarette. Not just, clovy clove spice, but like you just pulled out a Djarum black and sniffed it before lighting and annihilating your lungs with it. I love this so much and layering with Clown White and soon, Gingerbread & Leather.
