Come With Me, Loving Me to Death

Recommended Posts

Black orchid, cacao, bitter almond, and black musk.

You will think me cruel, very selfish, but love is always selfish; the more ardent the more selfish. How jealous I am you cannot know. You must come with me, loving me, to death; or else hate me and still come with me. and hating me through death and after. There is no such word as indifference in my apathetic nature.

Come With Me, Loving Me to Death is a *stellar* blend. In the bottle, it is a gorgeous, chocolate cherry black musk, as dark and haunting as The Phantom Calliope, with the black musk/cacao being softer and more sensual than the gritty patchouli/cinnamon. This is more like the phantom inside the calliope (which is fitting, given the story). Like, King Diamond collab already.

This quickly warms up on the skin, and the black musk sings a twisted melody with the darkest of dark florals appearing, the none more vlack (my phone keeps wanting to put "vlack" instead of "black", so we're keeping it ) orchid. I would say this is similar to Black Silk Orchid, but not as tuberosy/beachy. It's not too powdery as a floral, more velvety. The chocolate and cherrylike almond are still present, but both have receded considerably and this now reads more cacao black orchid musk than chocolate covered cherry black musk. Also, I must say this is one of the smoothest black musks I have ever encountered, with less of that bite than say Haunted or Streets of Detroit. This is a glorious stage.

The final drydown is a sweet, sexy, and soft black musk with a touch of black orchid and cacao. Although I prefer the opening stage, Come with Me is beautiful at every stage, and feels like getting 3 scents in one. I'm curious to see how this will cure over time. I feel vampy AF in this. :wub2:

This begins with a blood rush of something that is almost cherry but is really the almond. The initial pulse of living blood quickly settles down under the velvety petals of dark, night-blooming orchid that casts shadows of black musk and a cacao that is not chocolate, and is just slightly bitter but sensual. It is a night among the orchids surrounding an Anne Rice-esque mansion where vampires lurk.

While wet, it's a mix of bitter dark cacao and black musk. It's rich, earthy and a little sharp from the musk. I can easily see this read as herbal or medicinal to some people, especially due to the bitter almond and black musk, but the cacao does well in keeping it from veering off track.

I noticed some interpreted the bitter almond as cherry-like, but it doesn't to me. It's not sweet enough. The dry down allows the black musk to slink into the background, still present but not as assertive. The black orchid, in my opinion, is the star once the scent is worn in. It isn't a screechy or powdery floral, more heady and perfume-y than anything else. This is a darkly romantic fragrance.

This is absolutely gorgeous! It's incredibly wearable for having orchid and black musk. On me, it's a sweet orchid, without being overwhelmingly floral, giving over into a dark, well behaved musk. The almond lends some sweetness at the beginning, but it's never foody on me. Stunning, and a perfect interpretation of the source material.

I did not anticipate to like this, but hot damn, I was proven so wrong. A sniff from the vial/bottle does not do this one justice.

It has a gorgeous dark chocolate cherry vibe of an opening, and then it leans into that dark cacao and musk.... A little bit to warm up and the orchid blooms and isn't overwhelming. Just a touch sweet, just a touch perfumey, all around dark and stunning. The black musk is well behaved and honestly didn't think black musk and black orchid were going to be such a fantastic combo. Will be slathering the rest of my decant and may consider upsizing!

This reminds me of Blue Silk Orchid from 2023 Lupercalia. I prefer Blue Silk Orchid over this one, probably because it had tuberose as well.

Come With Me revolves around the black orchid accord with some warmness from the almond and black musk.
