doomsday_disco Report post Posted October 16, 2024 Crimson and ash-green velvet, leatherbound books, a scattering of ink-dribbled papers, beeswax, dried flowers, faded pipe smoke, mahogany, and oak suffused with warm beams of golden amber and dusted with pale sandalwood. OxfordComma Report post Posted November 8, 2024 (Ok I swear to God I'm not just terrible at picking out notes. Maybe I'm just really good at picking scents that will inexplicably conjure up grade school memories?) I digress. This smells so uncannily like scented pencils at first. Kinda generically fruity and pencil shaving-esque wood. On the skin, it opens up a bit and the notes are more discernable. There's a dry woodiness from the oak and sandalwood, beeswax (might be the one from that deer moon duet?), a hint of chewy tobacco, maybe some brown leather, and i still get a bit of a fruity vibe for awhile.... maybe there's red musk in the crimson velvet? It has a very "shut up in the library" feel to it, definitely hits the vibe of the painting. Bookish without being heavy. Not as rich as expected tbh, but I'm not mad about it. Throw and longevity are average on me.
nikaida Report post Posted December 14, 2024 Gorgeous fragrance. Initial application is a very breezy, delicate floral with polished woods. Then for about an hour, it goes quite sweet (more honey than beeswax) on me, and reminds me of Possets Shah Jahan & Mumtaz Mahal (which is a favorite of mine!). And then it settles into a gentle, perfumey sandalwood floral with hints of the beeswax and of the other polished woods. SUUUPER pretty on me. Full-sized this beaut with no regrets(:
Thuy Report post Posted January 11 At first sniff, I get inked paper and light florals, with just a touch of sweetness (is that you, honey). On weardown: floral beeswax, hint of smoke, paper and ink, polished woods. This is actually wearing really nicely. it's ultimately like a warm woodsy slightly waxy sweet frag that wears quite well and I'm going to need more than a decant. I wish I knew which leather note is in this, because it's tame and very pleasant.
JMorgynWhite Report post Posted 4 hours ago Wow this one is a stunner. If you enjoy commercial/traditional perfumes don't pass by this one. the top notes have a bit of brighter floral and polish but as it mellow, you get layers of intriguing but subtle wood and paper (and a hint of leather) with a dusty/powdery amber-sandalwood base which mimics a more traditional scent which is gorgeous. Very elegant and I might need a back up.
