Swapping to Wand Caps or Reducer Caps

Hi BPAListas!

 

Apologies if this topic exists elsewhere, but I couldn't find one - please merge and point me to the proper topic if it already exists

 

I ordered 12 wand caps from the BPAL site, and was wondering what do other BPAListas do with the 'standard' caps afterwards?

I'm at a loss - do you clean & store* them? toss them? other?

 

*if clean & store - how do you clean them?

 

Please share your preferred practice with the old 'standard' caps when switching out to wand caps (or reducer caps)

I have a couple of little bags in a box of the old caps uncleaned (so clearly I haven't really figured out what to do with them either), but they are an interesting combination of my scent profile/tastes over time. I'd say the first of the two little ziplock bags is a lot more discordant than the second when I on occasion open them to see what they smell like. I am kind of curious how cleanable they are, but I also kind of enjoy my chaos bags of original caps.

I used to keep mine in the same wooden chest as my perfume collection. I'd sit the bottles down right on top of their old caps. The result was a delightfully fragrant wooden box! But alas, my collection has now outgrown the chest. 

 

My next plan is to put them all into a cloth bag and store that with my linens, to lightly scent them with the mélange of beloved fragrances.

I put the old caps in my wardrobe so every time I open it there comes a light whiff of beautiful perfumes. The scent is so slight that it does not stick to clothes. Though if I put ALL of the old caps in the wardrobe maybe it would be stronger, but I like to keep it in moderation

I have a large vase on my dresser and I just toss them in there as a cacophonous air freshener for the room

I plan on getting some wand caps for my so-far only bottle and for future bottles, and I'm not too sure what I'll do with the old lids. I already keep my imps in many different smaller opaque containers and I plan to do the same with the bottles, eventually grouping them by note families as my collection grows.

 

I love how they all smell individually but having so many smells in one heap would bother me. So I might keep the lids in little zip locks in their own container, or else I'll simply get rid of them.

I really like the idea of putting the old standard caps in my closet amongst my clothes in little hanging baggies and the "big ol' jar o' sniffs" might be in my future too!

I'll double check my storage boxes, but I don't think they are tall enough to accommodate placing the bottles atop their old caps.

More ideas and suggestions welcome

Tbh, I just wipe any oil residue off with a paper towel and then chuck the cap in the little wastepaper basket I use for whatever beauty product containers our curbside recycling service doesn't accept. When that's full I take it to Sephora and dump it in their recycling bin. This is also where I recycle amber bottles and imp caps (though it's my understanding that the imp vials themselves should get recycled curbside, as they're made of clear glass). Here's Pact's guidelines about what you can recycle in their bins!
