Happy EIGHTEENTH ANNIVERSARY to our Krampus perfume!

Brown leather and a bundle of switches encased in pale white orris root and rice powder, translucent white musk, Himalayan ambrette seed, and milky vanilla.

I get the same "porceline" vibe as from Doll's Doll. It is strongest wet but does remain throughout.  The warm brown leather snd gentle sweetness comes forward as it starts to dry,  and the finish is giving the classic krampus branches (bark and a hint of green) and soft orris.  It's a really interesting blending of cold and warm to me.

This is only a day of rest, I feel a few weeks settling will do this one good.  Right now it's a close throw and medium to low wear.

She sits pristine in tissue paper, this porcelain child with cool milky skin and frost-pale curls, radiating a sweetness both powder-pure and glazed smooth - like marshmallows dissolving in winter air, like sugared pears turned to frost on the windowsill. Though she glows with innocence, you know better. That's why her tiny severed hand lives in your pocket, wrapped in a handkerchief, small and impossibly perfect, still trailing that haunting whisper of confectioner's sugar and cold cream. You tell yourself it's for safe-keeping, and perhaps that's true in a sense,  but really, you're keeping yourself safe --from her gaze in the dark each night, as she watches you from high on her shelf, with a smile that's patient and sweet, and ever-so-slightly wrong.

this opens with something almost floral and rice powder. i guess the floral could be a sweeter iris note and/or the orris+vanilla is giving this impression. anyway, it does smell very white and a bit chalky. it's delicate. the leather is quite subtle at first. it gets prettier and sweeter over time. i don't really sense much musk or ambrette here. for me it's mostly orris, rice powder and vanilla. i think i might need a bottle of this.

Wet: wow, I was not expecting this to open with hella koolaid fruity, but here we are.

The leather and switches are very light, while this scent is dominated by the musky rice milk, orris, vanilla combo.

Ok, now I'm getting more leather.

Ultimately this settled into a slightly fruity (currant?), musky porcelain over the traditional Krampus notes of leather and wood.

Decant.

In the vial: it really does smell almost fruity to me. Not particularly sweet but definitely fruity.

Wet on skin: The fruity impression is gone, there's some creamy vanilla and other things I'm going to assume are orris root, rice powder, and ambrette seed. I can't make out leather, or musk yet. The vanilla is slightly sweet and "milky" is a good descriptor. The switches might be there, there's a slight wood scent, but it could be root or something I'm unfamiliar with instead. Medium throw.

Dry, three hours later: I think I smell the wood, not much of the vanilla. And maybe there's a breath of musk but I'm not getting a lot. There's some leather but it's faded. There's a bit of the other things I smelled earlier, that I'm not sure but think may be the other notes listed, or at least one or two of them. They give this a bit more of a perfume scent but it's not very strong an impression. I don't often get gender impressions from scents but this one started out androgynous and has become slightly masculine but still fairly androgynous. Low throw.

It's nice but I'm not sure I want a bottle. I think I might wear the imp out but it might go to the gift/sell/trade selection.

I get a white leather (not brown) with pale light green veil of spa-like air. It's hard to describe, but it's a really pleasant spa-like scent. Nothing Krampus, dirty, dusty or raggedy about it.

This one ended up being too perfume-y for me, sadly. The leather doesn't seem to be the sweet, smooth kind of brown leather that I enjoy, and the orris in this has some sharp iris-like qualities to it, while the ambrette seed adds some muskiness in the background (along with the actual musk, but the ambrette is more noticeable on me). There is some powderiness from the rice powder, but I'm not getting the vat of baby powder I usually get from most scents featuring orris. Alas, the vanilla never emerged on my skin.

There is not enough sweetness here to tame the sharp, iris-like aspect of this scent. I'd recommend this more to someone who wants something more traditionally perfume-y than someone looking for leather. (On the other hand, I guess I'm lucky not to have had the fruity experience of some reviewers?)
