doomsday_disco Report post Posted December 4, 2024 Sugar-dusted and overflowing with Luxardo maraschino cherries and a hint of blackberry.
ThatThereScentFanatic Report post Posted December 31, 2024 This one is super good! The yummiest cherry filling with just a touch of pastry. It’s truly mouthwatering. Smells exactly like cherry filling rather than a fresh fruit. Kinda reminds me of the smell of a cherry Toaster Strudel. This will probably be the one Yules I’m tempted to full size. theredkilt Report post Posted December 31, 2024 I get a full on meaty black cherry jam with a thin layer of pastry with a hint of powdered sugar texture. The cherry note is a tricky one for me, but here it's very well balanced with the dough pastry. Lovely!
white_jenna63 Report post Posted January 6 This is a very sweet cherry on me that never veers into candy/artificial territory.
doomsday_disco Report post Posted January 16 Like most sufganiyot scents, this is more about the filling than the pastry, but the pastry is present. It goes on as cherry jam and powdered sugar, but the cherry has a tartness to it that doesn't make it sweet enough to veer into cherry lollipop territory. The pastry ends up showing up with wear, but is mostly noticeable when you smell the scent close to the skin. It remains mostly cherry in the throw. My partner and I both really enjoy this since we both are fans of cherry scents, so I'll probably have to get a back-up bottle before it goes away.
Biocarbons Report post Posted January 28 LOUD black Cherry over vanilla. Black Cherry syrup over vanilla. In a good way. The pastry is a barely there background note.
Saeva Report post Posted January 31 In the bottle, it smells like thick cherry filling, canned and ready to be poured for pie has been drizzled with maraschino cherry syrup. Then I put it on myself and it immediately went to pastry. Not only was the cherry filling darker, trending into black cherry, but I instantly smelt like I had rubbed buttery, flaky pie crust across my skin. Ultimately, a few minutes in it mellowed out into a sharp cherry pie and stayed there. I usually like sugary scents, but I'm not sure how I feel about this one. It is so distinctly one specific sweet treat that it mostly keeps making me crave pie. Low to medium throw. Lots of staying power -- I still smelled just as cherry after 12 hours, which is longer than most BPAL scents last on me. My best friend tried it too and ended up smelling like someone tried to bake maraschino cherries. They're not a fan of sweet scents and said this one was particularly sweet. Alethia Report post Posted February 3 Thoughts before testing: cherries are my one true fruit love to eat, but I’ve never found a cherry perfume that didn’t immediately turn medicinal cough syrup on me. My hopes for this are high though because Dorian Suf from last year was one of my most worn perfumes of 2024. Wet: Mmm! Sweet, real cherries, super juicy and delish. No medicinal hints here but also no pastry. Dry down: Absolute 100% cherry all the time. It’s deeper and a little darker than in the wet stage, maybe from the blackberry? Dry: This is freaking phenomenal. The cherry stays lush and dark and sweet, never medicinal. Final thoughts: I’ve found my cherry perfume true love. This is terrific from the wet stage all the way to the far dry down (this lasts a solid 6 hours before I have to try and smell it). The pastry never shows up but I actually don’t miss it. Verdict: hoarding, at least 1 backup.
Little Bird Report post Posted February 26 The black cherry is a juicy, tart, rich cherry and not a cheap almond extract or fakey, bright red, American maraschino cherry. Unfortunately, as my skin amps and reacts to spices, I get a slap of cinnamon from this that makes me break out in swollen hives wherever the oil touches. There's delightful cherry and powdered sugar, but then skin burning cinnamon. Some of the Sufganiyot scents have gone granola/fig Newton territory for me, but this smells like cherry filled donut with powdered sugar glaze. I like the way it smells even as my skin hates it. sunshinedaisybliss Report post Posted Wednesday at 09:03 AM YES! This is exactly what I was hoping for.. a beautiful dark cherry! I’m with @Alethia on this one – it’s so hard to find that perfect black cherry, but here it is! I wouldn’t say this is especially sweet, but there is a hint of vanilla-like sweetness. I get the sufganiyot component – there is a pastry vibe going on, but it’s not strong and it doesn’t read as foody or cake-y to my nose. The cherry is the star of this show for sure. Blackberry usually turns into eau d’cat pee on my skin, so that was my big worry with this one but I am not picking up any hint of that here at all. I think I got really lucky, I have been looking for a rich, dark, juicy and luscious cherry blend for ages and this is it for me. I’m excited to play with layering this – over a nice dark vanilla for extra sweetness, over a warm patchouli for more earthiness, or over a dark chocolate – I’m thinking this + Gelt would be amazing. Or this + Snow White would also be fantastic. Or this + Snake Oil mmhmm. I think I will need a couple more bottles of this one 🙂
regretroulette Report post Posted 17 hours ago I’m torn on this one! The cherry to me smells like candy, not fresh. Maybe that’s just the sugary sweetness of the actual suganiyot facet to this blend playing tricks on me. Regardless, on the skin the bakery/spice/pastry elements come into play, and I like those very very much. I’ll probably be returning to this in the colder months, but alas I am in sunny Califonia where the sun has already come out to play for the year. The heat could also do interesting things with the cherry though… Guess I’ll just have to try it out when the heat’s really amping up. ✌️
