Poenari Report post Posted December 27, 2024 (edited) Reviewing this briefly fresh from the mailbox! Sniffing from the bottle, this is a super fizzy sweet rosé! I don't tend towards the Lab's champagne notes so I've never really understood how Beth can create a scent that smells the way carbonation bubbles feel when you hold a glass of a bubbly drink under your nose! It's so realistic I can almost feel the bubbles pop at my nostrils. On dry down a hint of the clove studded orange comes through, more citrus than clove. I actually misread the description when I ordered this and have been waiting for my package to arrive with feelings of buyer's remorse. I've prepared myself to not like this and planned to swap it for something else. I haven't given it a full wear test yet, but I have a feeling that this one is going to end up a surprise keeper after all! 12/30 After a full wear, I am definitely keeping this bottle! I don't wear fizzy, bright, citrus, or champagne notes so why do I like this?! It stays bright and lovely on me. This is now going to be my annual New Year's Eve scent! Out of my usual wheelhouse but worth the change! ? Edited December 30, 2024 by Poenari Expand review after full wear
PancakesRaichu Report post Posted December 30, 2024 Ahhh....the BPAL Yule with the prettiest name. I certainly have my thoughts fresh from the mail today. First of all, this is NOT a rose (scented) perfume. It is more of a visual thing in this redition. There's a bit of a fizziness in the bottle and fresh on skin...but on me, that aspect fades after 5 minutes. From the get-go, this is very reminiscent of Lush's Karma perfume but less aloof and hippy-esque. Like Karma without the patchouli...but angrier. The orange is bright and bold and.....red hot angry, with cloves. The cloves smell so lovely and smokey on my skin. As it dries on clothing, the orange becomes very happy and cheerful. A bit of clove keeping it steady in the background. I predict that this is going to be the sleeper hit of this collection.
gentle-twig Report post Posted January 9 (edited) Wow! This one is exactly what I hoped it would be! On my skin it is all shining, glassy aldehydes and bright citrus. The aldehydes remind me of the lab’s silk notes but here they are probably in a higher dose. At times I can pick up the rosé, rose, and clove but they are very much supporting an interesting orange aldehyde duet. The rosé is dry and bright, not deep and sweet like some other lab wine notes. And the rose is providing a kind of powdery floral backing. The clove is baaaaarely there for me, and this is far from an angry orange on my skin. Very cocktail hour — grown up, vintage-y, but still very fun !! ETA: I should note that this does not last very long, wears on me like an EDC but that also feels fine for what the scent is. I think it would cling to clothes fine though. Edited January 9 by gentle-twig
Lunasariel Report post Posted January 20 In the imp: Effervescent and bubbly! I'm getting kind of a 7-Up or ginger ale feel, with maybe the barest hint of florals. Wet: I don't have a good scent profile for rosé, but that effervescent, bubbly sort of note is sure still coming on strong! Other than that, I'm getting either the orange peel or a particularly citrus-y rose; I'm going to bet on the latter, since whenever I catch a random whiff of it, the first word my brain tosses out is "perfumey," so I bet the rose is more prominent than I'm giving it credit for. It's also surprisingly spicy further away from my skin. Dry: The effervescence fades, of course, but the underlying aldehydes are surprisingly tenacious. Is this an aldehyde that actually works on my skin?? Other than that very classic, vintage perfume scent, it's very distinctly orange spice, a little like tea or chocolate, but *very* not foodie. An odd combo, but I love it! I agree with above - it would make a fantastic NYE scent.
Little Bird Report post Posted February 5 (edited) Loud, perfumey/musky, red rose swimming in the Lab's fizzy, citrusy, sharp champagne with an edge of dry spice and bitter orange peel. My husband smelled this one on me and said, "Whoa. That is a, uh, very bright and intense smell." And it is. Tinsel Roses is very strong and long lasting on me with great throw. I feel like it fits its concept well and I appreciate that even if it's not something that I'll personally ever wear again. A bottle of spiced, dry, musky, red rose perfume dumped into a glass of champagne and decorated with bitter orange peel. A more mature feeling party fragrance. Alethia Report post Posted February 7 This is a super fun, festive scent. I like aldehydes to begin with and have been jonesing for a clove studded orange BPAL since I first found them. I get mainly the fizzy, bright aldehydes with some orange and a hint of florals. It’s pretty and fun, but my decant will be enough.
doomsday_disco Report post Posted February 7 This one is mostly about the rosy rosé on me. I could smell the orange with it when the scent was freshly applied and for a while after (the combination of the two notes was going wonky on my skin), but I didn't get any clove from this, which was a little sad since the clove-studded orange was the aspect of the scent to which I was most looking forward (I was hoping this would be pomander-esque). The rosé note has a shares some similarity to the Lab's champagne note, with the fizz dialed down, but it's still bubbly. Tinsel Roses isn't something I could see myself reaching for, but it was nice to get to try it.
