Poenari Report post Posted December 27, 2024 (edited) Reviewing this briefly fresh from the mailbox! Sniffing from the bottle, this is a super fizzy sweet rosé! I don't tend towards the Lab's champagne notes so I've never really understood how Beth can create a scent that smells the way carbonation bubbles feel when you hold a glass of a bubbly drink under your nose! It's so realistic I can almost feel the bubbles pop at my nostrils. On dry down a hint of the clove studded orange comes through, more citrus than clove. I actually misread the description when I ordered this and have been waiting for my package to arrive with feelings of buyer's remorse. I've prepared myself to not like this and planned to swap it for something else. I haven't given it a full wear test yet, but I have a feeling that this one is going to end up a surprise keeper after all! 12/30 After a full wear, I am definitely keeping this bottle! I don't wear fizzy, bright, citrus, or champagne notes so why do I like this?! It stays bright and lovely on me. This is now going to be my annual New Year's Eve scent! Out of my usual wheelhouse but worth the change! 🎉 Edited December 30, 2024 by Poenari Expand review after full wear
PancakesRaichu Report post Posted December 30, 2024 Ahhh....the BPAL Yule with the prettiest name. I certainly have my thoughts fresh from the mail today. First of all, this is NOT a rose (scented) perfume. It is more of a visual thing in this redition. There's a bit of a fizziness in the bottle and fresh on skin...but on me, that aspect fades after 5 minutes. From the get-go, this is very reminiscent of Lush's Karma perfume but less aloof and hippy-esque. Like Karma without the patchouli...but angrier. The orange is bright and bold and.....red hot angry, with cloves. The cloves smell so lovely and smokey on my skin. As it dries on clothing, the orange becomes very happy and cheerful. A bit of clove keeping it steady in the background. I predict that this is going to be the sleeper hit of this collection.
gentle-twig Report post Posted January 9 (edited) Wow! This one is exactly what I hoped it would be! On my skin it is all shining, glassy aldehydes and bright citrus. The aldehydes remind me of the lab’s silk notes but here they are probably in a higher dose. At times I can pick up the rosé, rose, and clove but they are very much supporting an interesting orange aldehyde duet. The rosé is dry and bright, not deep and sweet like some other lab wine notes. And the rose is providing a kind of powdery floral backing. The clove is baaaaarely there for me, and this is far from an angry orange on my skin. Very cocktail hour — grown up, vintage-y, but still very fun !! ETA: I should note that this does not last very long, wears on me like an EDC but that also feels fine for what the scent is. I think it would cling to clothes fine though. Edited January 9 by gentle-twig
