BPAL Madness!

Recommended Posts

I just pulled this from the mail tonight and couldn't wait to try it on. So take these impressions with a grain of salt with the knowledge that I did not have the patience to let this rest.

This is a romantic floral perfume. The tea rose is very soft. My friend immediately made a comparison to potpourri, so "dried" is spot on. The leather here is so light and buttery, skin-warmed and flexible. I don't know that I can pull apart the balsa and cherry wood, but there is just a perfect balance of light woodiness. There's something about this that reads a little bit like vanilla to me as well.

In mood, this reminds me of The Little Wooden Doll, though the two scents have distinct characters. Wearing this makes me think of taking a cozy getaway to a bed & breakfast, or curling up into a big armchair with a romance novel and a soft blanket. It's feminine and pretty, with no sharp edges and a heavy dose of wistful nostalgia.

I expected more wood from this blend, but I'm absolutely delighted by it nevertheless. As a fan of rose & wood, I'm so glad I picked up a bottle!

wow this is so pretty. it starts off with rose and the lace note which smells kind of vanillic. the rose definitely smells dried and not fresh, but recently dried, not like it's been sitting in a box for years, if that makes sense. i get something else here but it doesn't read as leather or wood per se. maybe it's a subtle hint of a suedey leather (?) a warm, somewhat vanillic tea rose. it's very romantic and nostalgic.

Powdery rose on initial application. The wood is very subtle here at the start but starts to warm up and become more prominent about 30 minutes in. These cotton 3/4 gloves were tucked into a wood trunk in the sleeves of a Victorian wedding dress and picked up a whiff of perfume from someone's special day long gone by.

This is mostly about the cherrywood and dried tea rose on me, with only a touch of vanilla lace. The combination of the wood and dried rose kind of makes me think of rosewood, although there's a touch of cherry in the cherrywood. On me, the emphasis is more on the carved wooden aspect of the scent than the other notes. I wish I were getting the experience of other reviewers and that the wood were more subtle on me!
