millarca Report post Posted February 16 Y'all, this doesn't smell like shit!!! No, for reals. The warmth of a wonderfully hazy stable is all here. All of it. The apples are most prevalent wet, but it's not a fruity scent at all. As it dries, it just gets so mellow and rich, and pulls so close to the skin as to be intimate. There's the wood, the alfalfa (excellent hay choice, I'm sooo allergic to Timothy grass), and the leather is really very background. And then even further back past the sun-warm tack is something. Not even a scent, just an honesty and a frankness. Just the fact of a large animal's small home. It's so un-alarming and so mellow, so completely perfectly orchestrated; there is nothing at all to be scared of here. I went into this very Challenge-Accepted-cocky, and I was so gratified to discover *both* the accuracy of the description and also that it wasn't actually challenging. Just a beautiful late afternoon in a stable with the sun slanting through hay-dust and a solid, clean, frankly mammalian friend. If it were grander it would be a masterwork of world-creation for all time, but it's so skin-close that it's a barefoot, bareback precious friendship. I'm so glad I trusted this. Biocarbons Report post Posted March 4 (edited) I picked up a low partial out of sheer curiosity. Upon sniff: grassy hay, a bit of sweetness from the apple, barnyard oud. You're walking by a horse stable during hay bailing, and you can smell that 'horses poop here' distant scent. Skin test: about the same, but the oud is getting a little louder. Okay, it's settling. Dank musk forward, grassy hay and apple. I don't mind it. The musk eventually settles completely into the background. If I could go straight to the dry down I'd get a bottle. Compared to In lctu Oculi, this is more generally wearable with the musk settling as a smooth background note. This is also a bit sweeter.
