elissamay Report post Posted December 19, 2024 (edited) This is so cute and cuddly. The vanilla popcorn balls are really at the forefront when first applied, with the sweetness of the cotton candy and touch of fuzzy musk. The lavender is very present OOB, but I don't get a whole ton of lavender once applied. Its presence is there and I think kind of just adds to the cozy quality of this scent. There's also a gentle woodiness here that is not in your face or particularly strong, but just sort of grounds the otherwise sweet and cozy notes. It's very long-lasting, doesn't have a whole ton of throw, and stays pretty true-to-bottle (aside from the lavender) on the skin! I think this will be a real favorite of this Yule release. NOTE: I have never tried Mouse Circus, so I can't compare. Edited December 20, 2024 by elissamay
ghoulnextdoor Report post Posted January 2 For a popcorn devotee - nay, a popcorn zealot who would happily survive on nothing but perfectly popped kernels for the rest of time, dental floss bills be damned - there is nothing quite like that first hit of toasty corn. Whether it's movie theater butter pooling in the ridges, nutritional yeast giving it that umami funk, or simply sea salt bringing out corn's inherent sweetness (and let's be clear: adding caramel, or indeed any form of sweetness to popcorn, is an unforgivable crime against both nature and the pure pleasure of popped corn). But here's something entirely unexpected: that perfect salty-corny base sprinkled with lavender's crisp, herbaceous brightness. Like finding fresh sprigs tucked between kernels, adding an aromatic sharpness that cuts through the savory warmth. It's a weird combination and probably shouldn't work - much like how finding a beady-eyed little mouse nibbling in your popcorn bowl as you reach for another handful would be pretty jarring - but somehow, this odd little creature has charmed its way into my heart. Elspethdixon Report post Posted January 3 I blind bottled this based on the description because I suspected it would be the recently d/c-ed Mouse Circus + lavender, and I was not disappointed. It is indeed Mouse Circus’s buttery kettle corn and soft vanilla-woods, combined with a sharp French lavender. Mouse Circus is a scent I associate with one of my cats (because he, too, has a “cotton-candy pink mouse nose”), and lavender was my other, sadly late cat’s favorite scent (the Fluffle loved lavender because I wore it to bed - even straight up lavender essential oil which you’d think would be too strong was apparently delightful to him and he’d come over to sniff it). So the moment I saw the description I immediately thought “this is the scent of both my babies cuddling together!” And it is. The first few moments are a slightly weird blast of herbal aromatherapy lavender and buttery popcorn, but then it calms down into a soft, sweet, slightly gourmand lavender that’s just as cuddly and soothing as I thought it would be. theredkilt Report post Posted January 10 There's herbal lavender in the beginning, but it fades away quickly. The drydown of this one on my skin is kind of buttery with a faint popcorn undertone. The lavender is MIA.
