Vintage Snow Clown Blow Mold

Recommended Posts

Chase away the sads with a sip from a cheery snowglobe filled with slushy grenadine and lemon-lime soda, topped with a maraschino cherry and illuminated from within by 40 watts of glowing amber.

You might start wondering what planet I’m on, but bear with me here. This smells like cherry-colored lamplight. There is something, and I think it’s the particular type of amber, that gives it not just a warmth, but that particular smell you can pick up if you’re close enough to a light bulb. It starts off as a fruit punch burst of cherry lit up with a few extra watts of lemon and lime, but a glow starts to emanate from the amber the more it dries down. Now imagine the warmth of the glowing blow mold dusted with snow, as if there’s a gust of snow swirling outside the window. It doesn’t dim the light but adds to the atmosphere. This might all sound nonsensical but it makes perfect sense—at least on my skin. It’s exactly what you’d expect a vintage clown blow mold to smell like if it actually had a smell.

This features the slushy snow note (sans any evergreen) and some dry white musk (and probably amber) infused with some fizzy lemon lime soda and just the barest hint of cherry on me. I so wanted this to smell like a Shirley Temple, but the cherry and grenadine couldn't hold a candle to the slush and the lemon lime soda on my skin.

I was really hoping for the same experience as @Invidiana with this one – I wanted glowing amber-cherry! Alas, that is not what I got – once again, my skin has betrayed me 🙁

When I first put this on, I got a blast of bitter sourness – it reminds me of all my previous encounters with BPALs containing something “fizzy”. I think it’s a champagne-like note? (champagne hates me) If anyone remembers Geek Goth – this is the same lemon-lime fizzy, which I should have remembered because GG was also bad on me.

Half an hour in – the bitter sourness has faded but not fully gone away. I am not picking up anything grenadine-y at all, and the cherry is very faint. Amber? Nope, not here yet.

One hour in, and finally the bitter and sour vibe has gone. I can smell the lemon and lime now, but they’re very faint. Still no grenadine, and the cherry is just a wisp. I still really can’t smell any amber in here but there’s now a nice soft duskiness to everything, so I know it’s there.

Overall, I am disappointed with this one but I think that’s completely because of the “fizz” factor. Were it not for the way that goes horribly wrong on my skin, I think this would have been very nice.
