Thirteen (13): December 2024

Recommended Posts

Thirteen scents of comfort; a supplication for safety and succor during turbulent, dark times. Warm wool, fresh baked bread, steaming black tea, and a gooey brownie spiced with fresh ginger, green cardamom, black peppercorn, coriander, clove bud, fennel, star anise, honey, and cream.

This just arrived yesterday etc., etc., but it's lovely and perfect and I just adore the label!

I find it a bit quiet and contemplative in addition to warm and comforting. The bread is more evident to me at the moment than the brownie, but the spices are still present. The tea is here, too, but in the background. Altogether like sitting in the coziest, most welcoming kitchen.

This is all dry spices to my nose. No bread, brownie, honey, cream or anise. Maybe some dark, dry tea leaves, but mostly smelling a spice rack with jars of black pepper, clove, and what smells strongly of nutmeg to me.

Fresh out of the bottle, the first scent I smell is chocolate; a deep rich chocolate with warm spicy spices. A few minutes later I can smell the sweet dark tea.

About 15 minutes later the chocolate starts to tone down and the bread, tea and cream start to bloom, mixing with the spices. Its a very cozy scent, perfect for the holidays when I would rather be eating cookies and pastries with a nice warm blanket instead of cleaning house.

An hour later the chocolate settles into the background, but it still present, along with the bread, spices, honey and cream. This variation is warm and lovely, definitely gourmand but with an almost sweet floral flair.

This smells like a nice melange of all spices listed in the description. Reminds me of Cartier Declaration with emphasis on the spice element. Green cardamom, fennel, coriander, star anise - in that order. It's more of a spicy aromatic blend than a gourmand one for me.

Starts off very gourmand on my skin, a well-spiced brownie. As it dries the chocolate fades way back and it becomes a drier, muskier scent. The wool is fuzzy and musky (not at all clean laundry on me), the tea and spices follow closely behind. I get just a tiny hint of sweetness from the chocolate and honey. Very homey and cozy.
