artisjok Report post Posted March 29 Absolute adoration. This is the lush chewy jasmine of my dreams. The starchy rice (anything more comforting than a bowl of rice?!), the warmth of smoked vanilla, the touch of brightness from the yuzu…. All smooshed into each other and oh so smooth. It doesn’t read “tea” on me, just velvety sensual jasmine, in cuddle mode.
LavenderCoffee Report post Posted April 6 First time I tested this it came across as primarily jasmine rice, but trying it again I'm getting more of the tea and the yuzu. The smoky vanilla comes forward in the drydown. It's exquisite.
Biocarbons Report post Posted April 15 LOUD gas station Jasmine incense and buttery vanilla rice. Epic skin chemistry fail.
gentle-twig Report post Posted April 17 (edited) Buttery rice enlivened by sunny yuzu and fresh jasmine. The butter note dies down and rice becomes starchier and chewier. In the drydown I finally get a subtle tea black tea note, classic BPAL. But with the chewy rice already in play, it doesn’t necessarily have that chewy character I associate with it. Instead, it hovers above this bright and lively scent like a dark veil. I also start to get the smoked vanilla on drydown, bringing this scent into Dorian territory (albeit much more refreshing). The smoke is just the subtlest thread and adds a glimmer of interest. I like this scent, but I don’t like the buttery cast that never quite dissipates. I think this one might struggle to find its audience despite its beauty and coherence. It veers into a lot of controversial territories that don’t necessarily have overlapping fanbases: it’s fresh yet gourmand, with a touch of smokiness. But I also realize if I could tolerate the butteriness this would definitely be a love for me. I’m kind of bummed neither of the shunga tea decants (the other being the first tea ceremony of the year) were obvious winners. I like both of them, but both push me out of my comfort zone into gourmand territory. I will probably hang on to both decants and see if they grow on me or settle into something more comfortable for me. Edited April 18 by gentle-twig
doomsday_disco Report post Posted April 18 I think I had a similar experience to Biocarbons. This was mostly about the jasmine on me (with the tea aspect coming out hours later) and buttery rice. I don't get much yuzu from this, and there's a touch of smoke from the smoked vanilla after the scent has been on the skin for a while, but I'm not really getting the vanilla itself. The jasmine and the rice notes are too loud in this for my liking, but it was fun to get to try it.
theredkilt Report post Posted 12 hours ago Buttery fluffy steamed rice with a subtle touch of jasmine. Nothing smoky or indolic showing up on my skin. Really beautiful and calming
