Fury Report post Posted March 28, 2011 Medieval romance and courtly love. White rose and soft resins. Mmmm. This is absolutely breathtaking. I am a self-proclaimed white rose fiend, but as my much beloved White Rose and Alice are becoming a bit too girly for me, I am absolutely ADORING this blend! The white florals in this are completely overcome by incensey, rich resins- which feel quite similarly to me like Schwarzer Mond as just rich, warm and a bit otherworldly. It is a tad sour, but very earthy and deep with a kiss of feminine sweetness. Dry the frankincense is blossoming, lending a sort of golden quality to the scent, but the florals emerge again- fresh cut white rose, with a hint of green to the blend as well. Just beautiful. I will be wearing my imp to see how frequently I think I'd reach for a bottle (that's one of my troubles with my beloved white rose blends, I adore sniffing them but seldom wear them!), but seeking a bottle may be in my future. milo Report post Posted April 3, 2011 All I get here from wet to dry is sweet white rose. I do amp rose, so I don't get any of the other notes coming through at all. I'm not a big rose fan, but at least this stays true and doesn't go sour.
reconditarmonia Report post Posted April 25, 2011 '08 version. The rose is nice, but I just can't deal with the frankincense, it's too chemical.
maika Report post Posted May 7, 2011 2011 version: In the decant: roses. Exactly the same scent as the white roses my great-grandmother used to grow. Beautiful! Wet: Sweet rose with a hint of resin underneath. Dry: A think of beauty! The rose is blending with the resins, and it's glorious. It doesn't have a massive throw, but it's perfect to wear with someone you might want to move in closer I'm off to hunt for more.
Acayde Report post Posted August 4, 2013 (edited) Bottle: Roses Wet: Roses with a hint of chocolate? Dry: The wisps of chocolate have dissipated. The rose smell dominates the scent, but not your nose and ends up like sort of powdery. Evokes images of: A shabby chic room with white bead board walls and rose petals everywhere. There is a worn white canopy bed with a rose-design bedspread and lace frills around the pillows. Numerous vases have been filled with fresh roses and the sun is beaming through an open window and reflecting the brightness of the room. Aviatrix Report post Posted June 1, 2015 This is a bright, soft rose scent with quiet whispers of resins in the far background. Mostly it is pure rose. It shares some qualities with Rose Cross, but is not as sharp as that one. On my skin it smells almost as if it is "glowing" somehow. If you like roses, you are sure to like this one too! d0gbones Report post Posted June 3, 2015 (edited) In the bottle: Herbal Wet: Nothing? Dry: I don't know what's gone wrong here but this smells terrible on me. Resins and roses are my go-to, the rose note in this is fine but the resins are this weird, sour almost alcoholic lump of no. Sad. Mine is 2011 too, so I have to agree with the review below that this one doesn't age well. Edited December 30, 2015 by d0gbones
LizziesLuck Report post Posted December 30, 2015 2011 Wet: Cough syrup. Cherry, to be precise. WTF? I adore white rose. I adore resins. They are notes that usually work on me. Why does this smell like cough syrup? I can smell the white roses underneath, but there is something else overtop that genuinely smells medicinal and unpleasant. Hoping this corrects itself as it dries! Dry: Roses and cough syrup. So sad! It's possible this is one that doesn't age that well, so I may pick up a fresh decant if ever it's offered again. Bassmastadroog Report post Posted November 2, 2016 First time trying a white rose blend...WOOOoW. Another real rose blend for the garden. Pale rose, indeed sharp almost dill-ish (so pretty), sweet resins. The incense is fairly straightforward. Since I don't have a white rose and incense blend already, this is awesome. White rose is definitely fresh like Rose Red, but no sap here. Glad I ordered a bottle!
allinmyhead0321 Report post Posted January 10, 2017 In the bottle: Sharp! Oh. I'm not sure about this one. Wet: That's better. Lots of soft, powdery rose. Not the super velvet rose from Rose Red or some of the other rose blends. This one is like big, soft spring roses. Then there is the resin. I can't pick out a particular note, but it's just the smell of a lovely used bookstore that has a whole section for new age wares. Something like that anyway. Dry: More of the same though the rose has settled out and blended into the resins to create more of that slightly exotic English market feel. That's what I'm picturing in my head at any rate. haha. Fresh bright roses and old books and incense and resins ... casting supplies and maybe even warm drink tucked away in a little corner booth. Ahhh ... 2011 version that I picked up along the way :-)
PeculiarHeroine Report post Posted February 12, 2017 I love this. Its a quiet rose, a delicate white, maybe tipped with pink, and rounded out by very soft resins. I find this combination to be lovely and delicate, a perfect spring rose perfume.
theredkilt Report post Posted December 31, 2017 2006 release This is such an ever-changing blend, Sometimes i get the resins coming to life with a pale shadow of rose, other times i get a sweetened candied rose (not the soapy variety). The resins must consist of frankincense and benzoin. Definitely try before you buy scent.
