PurringPulsar Report post Posted April 1, 2006 (edited) Queen of the Nile Use in love magick when the object of your desire is a stranger. Opens up opportunities for communication, and entices people to be more responsive to your advances. In the bottle: musk! Dark, sweet, deep musk is what I get here. Maybe a red or more probably a black musk, with probably something like myrrh or spices deepening it. A very enticing 'come hither' scent! Wet on skin: today I will just see what this is like on the skin-I'm not sure if this is the right thing to do but it seems ok for this oil. It is a delicious sweet dark musk with a hint of something herbal or spicy. Dry on skin: whoa...this is intense! The scent is a dark, almost fruity musk with sweet, spicy and resinous aspects. I'm thinking it's black musk, sexy, slick, and sinuous. It smells almost like candy now-and I'm sure that's due to lotus. Yeah, lotus seems to be an appropriate ingredient in Egyptian themed ritual oil...I also get a cherry like scent as well. I think there may be myrrh in here as well, and I get a rich, deep amber note (or is it ambergris?), adding a smoky-golden aspect. and there are spices too-but I can't tell what they are but they add warmth to the blend. After a while: after half an hour, it's toned down and isn't as intense and it's also more balanced. The scent is of dark smoky amber or myrrh, sweet cherry-lotus with sweet black musk and spices smouldering away in the background. This is actually what I hoped Black Lotus would smell like on me-that scent turned burnt on my skin. This on the other hand is delicious amber-myrrh-lotus goodness, very much the alluring scent of an Egyptian temptress lying seductively on her golden couch at night, luring men closer with her mysterious scent. Over time, the scent smoothes out nicely and the candy-like scent mellows and doesn't smell as strong. Everything seems to be working very nicely! And it's still there after many hours, as a gentle sweet spicy amber/musk reminiscent of another Egyptian blend that isn't Black Lotus-probably Khephra. Verdict (scent): mystical, seductive, deep, rich and exotic, this scent is of sweet black musk mixed with smoky dark amber and myrrh, sweetened by an almost candy like lotus or cherry scent, with a hint of sultry spice. After a moment where it's so intense you can almost taste it at the back of the throat, it calms down and smells nicely balanced and all the notes mingle wonderfully. It's a beautiful, entrancing scent that makes me feel and smell like Cleopatra in the mood to kick some asp! Verdict (intent): will update when I use this stuff correctly, with candles and all! (I'm just waiting for the perfect opportunity to do so.) As for how the scent makes me feel...well I feel a lot more relaxed and at ease, and I feel like socialising (or even chatting guys up!) and I'm not as shy feeling or introverted as usual-another example of scent enhancing intent. All qualities I would need to pull the guys! Unfortunately at the time I'm trying this, I'm not doing anything very social...let alone with any blokes I fancy! Nepthys Report post Posted April 3, 2006 I'm going to have a hard time describing the scent of this in actual notes - though I can says it smells fabulously mysterious, seductive and smoky. I'm guessing there are notes of almond and myrrh in it, but other than that I can only say it smells like a cousin of Snake Oil. But with less sweetness and more spice. In terms of effect: yeah, this is the stuff. It's powerful and immediate and not only with strangers. In the last week I've had two highly platonic associates (including my boss) get very interested in me and express it openly. The attention has been uncomfortable enough that I would recommend using this with caution. That was just wearing a drop as perfume; after using it in ritual two nights ago, I did get hit on quite a lot at Gay Pride this weekend and yet only from men (?) and not women. My coven will be using this in a major love working this coming Friday night so I'll be interested to see what results come our way. In conclusion: if you're looking for an oil that not only amps your allure but creates actual interaction with your crushes, get this.
Little Bird Report post Posted April 24, 2006 Queen of the Nile has a really beautiful fragrance. It actually reminds me a lot of Florence. It has the same berries, spice, and smoky amber quality that I get out of Florence. This blend is just a bit darker and more seductive. It smells a little muskier than Florence did as well, perhaps a smoky dark musk. I did get quite a few compliments on the fragrance when I wore this, but I didn't really notice any strangers coming over to fawn over me or anything. And the person that I wanted to open up communication with did not notice it or me at all, but politely brushed me off as usual. My friends all just wanted to know what my new perfume was. I'll wear this a few more times and see if it helps with my communication issues (and I'll update if I notice anything)... it's not a chore to wear because it smells so damn good anyhow
LittleGreyKitten Report post Posted May 1, 2006 Yeah, OK. This smells so darn good I'm totally tempted to ignore that it's supposed to be for something (that I don't need it for!) It does have a Snake Oil type thing going on, for sure. It's spicy, exotic, and yet sweet and incensy. I like it quite a bit. I did wear it for a while and didn't notice any particular reactions to this. Very nice fragrance, it smells the best of all the TALs I got.
Thursdae Report post Posted May 6, 2006 Queen of the Nile smells sweet, seductive, and a touch mysterious. I wore it for the first time this evening. I've been going to a gym for about a month, usually wearing Hellion and occasionally Shanghai. No one has ever spoken to me or even smiled. Individuals are concentrating on doing reps at the weight machines or running on the various treadmill-type things. Tonight, a man complimented me on my smile, and made a point of talking to me a couple of other times, too. Maybe it's a coincidence, but I have to report the facts. Result of Hellion: I enjoyed it but received no particular attention from others. Queen of the Nile: I enjoyed it and received quite a marked amount of attention from a friendly guy wearing a big gold band on his third finger.
filigree_shadow Report post Posted May 17, 2006 (edited) Scent: There is an astringent pine or lemon scent to this oil at first. Over time it becomes more smoky, but I still don't think it smells particularly seductive. After more than an hour, there was definitely a Snake Oil-like scent to it, in that powdery spicy way. Effect: I have used this oil twice now for a specific purpose, and both times the person appeared to be a little nervous near me, which is unusual. He seemed to be slightly unsure of himself. I should mention that the person is not a stranger, but he is someone I share a close friendship with, the kind that has an easy and natural affection associated with it. Or, at least, it used to. We've grown a bit distant, and I'm not happy about that. I miss the affection, and I know it was based on a mutual attraction, which is why I got a bottle of Queen of the Nile instead of Euphony. However, since the desired effect is not happening, I think this means I need to use Euphony for now and work on the affection later. I think I was a bit too impatient with my intent... which is probably what was making him nervous. Edited June 30, 2006 by filigree_shadow
cuervosueno Report post Posted September 30, 2006 (edited) I have a crush on a guy at my boxing class. Ok, on two guys, but..... And I thought it might be nice to try out some of the TAL attraction blends in this situation, so I was lucky enough to buy several different decants. Scent-wise, this is by far my favorite. In the imp this is a nice floral, nothing special. On, this blooms. It is glorious! It’s sweet and soft, with just a slight lemony/citrus scent--more like lemon balm than actual lemon. Almost, but not quite, foody. I wouldn’t be surprised if it had an amber in it, because it has that golden light I associate with amber (think, for example, of Jacob's Ladder). I very much like it. And it gets even better as it drys down. Now its turned all golden and fruity and sweet, like amber and citrus together. The citrus is either sweet orange or mandarin, I think, and is very like the citrus note in Pumpkin queen. As it starts to fade (just a bit), it does get a candy note. Smells like orange pez or something, which I find very appealing. and when I read YeahbutNo's review, I thought yes, I could see how this could be lotus. It really is alluring, and is subtle enough to draw people near, I think. I also do think it fits its egyptian theme. Must have more than just this imp! For an attraction oil to be workable for me, it has to also have a smell I enjoy, and this is the one I like best. Perhaps I can swap some of my others for more of this. In the meantime, I plan to wear it to by class tomorrow, and will report back on what happens. eta: I love this! Of all the love/attraction blends I've tried recently, this is my favorite in terms of smell. It reminds me of lemon pez, which sounds wierd, but smells really good. The first time I wore it, nothing much happened in the class, but strangers were very nice to me, which makes sense considering its use. but when I wore it again, the "crush" guys were much nicer and flirtier too. So I do think it works, and maybe not just on total strangers! I may have to consider getting a bottle of this! parrot_suspect Report post Posted December 20, 2006 This starts off a bit lemony but then quickly turns into a sexy musk, somewhat along the lines of Enraged Orangutan Musk. That's one of my favorite blends, so I couldn't help but like Queen of the Nile as well. I didn't try to attract any strangers when I sampled this, but I did receive a compliment from my husband, who almost never notices what I'm wearing. I'm putting QOtN on my wish list! theseagrows Report post Posted May 30, 2007 ooh i really like this one. when i first put it on i get pure, clear, amber. as it dries a musky-vanilla comes out with some sort of spice possibly. or maybe it's just a spice? bpal's vanilla doesn't generally smell like vanilla on me at all, but this smells how i imagine it SHOULD smell. it reminds me of snake oil, but the vanilla in that turned powdery on me. this is richer and spicier on my skin. perhaps it has cinnamon or clove, but i can't really pick out notes. it's very sexy and warm, and i think i may need a big bottle of it! Wildchild453 Report post Posted June 27, 2007 (edited) In the bottle: Its really strong, I like it. There is a strong incense smell..I guess it it might be myrrh. Wait is that a hint of lemon I detect? hmm.... There is something very enticing about it from the bottle. Wet on skin: Ugh, is that baby powder I smell? Pls God no.... Dry on skin My God it is baby powder, with something sweet behind it. There is still something enticing behind it even with the baby powder smell After awhileIts dried down quite nice. There is still a baby powder smell but its much sweeter. The incense smell from the bottle is wafting around in the background. Verdict Its phenomenal in the bottle but the baby powder smell on my skin is gonna keep my from outside of intent. I don't mind that. On the intent side, I didn't have a chance to try it on anyone else but it surely did entice me. I was reading my book and all of sudden this captivating smell hit my nose and w.o thought my nose followed the scent to my arm and took the deepest breath. Now all I need is a boy to do that, lol ETA: About 3-4 hrs later, Queen of the Nile has turned into this pretty warm scent. Its yummy Edited June 27, 2007 by Wildchild453
kwsix Report post Posted August 10, 2007 I love Queen of the Nile, and I would wear it for scent alone, but I don't, out of respect for the oil. I do wear it when I want to draw people to me and improve my ability to relate to them, and when I feel like my powers of charm need a boost. On first application, I get soft creamy orange/citrus, almost like baby aspirin or a creamsicle. As the oil dries, the dark musk and spices come out. It has decent but not overpowering throw, and it makes me feel like I'm enveloped in a cloud of seductive scent. It is a dark scent, but the creamy orange stays around and brightens it up considerably. It's just a lovely, sexy scent, and I do feel more confident and flirtatious when I wear it. I haven't had any unusual encounters with strangers, which is not what I was going for anyway, but I do feel more comfortable talking to people than I usually do. It actually reminds me a lot of Florence. It has the same berries, spice, and smoky amber quality that I get out of Florence. This blend is just a bit darker and more seductive. It smells a little muskier than Florence did as well, perhaps a smoky dark musk. You're exactly right! I love Florence too, and Queen of the Nile is definitely similar. I get citrus from QotN, and berries from Florence, but they both have that smoky seductive thing going on.
darlingarmadillo Report post Posted September 30, 2007 I love this stuff. I've been using it to open up communication with men I'd like to get to know better, and it works like a charm. Of course One in particular is a bit shy, and this has been great in drawing him out and getting conversations going. Although it's not suggested on the TAL site, I've also used it a lot when speaking to employment agencies and employers, in order to enhance communications and make them more receptive towards me, and it's worked brilliantly for that, as well, even when they haven't previously been very receptive. It also smells amazing - a bit of orange, and smooth, sensual musk. Not too heavy, or too sweet. This is one I never want to run out of!
jewelbug Report post Posted November 7, 2007 (edited) Imp: Sweet syrupy amber, maybe a bit of honey, a citrus hint and some musk maybe? Wet: Very sweet amber, a hint powdery, with a citrus honeyed scent. Maybe a hint of pine? Its quite a nice smell, which makes sense if its supposed to lure in strangers. Dry: Musky, slightly powdery, sweet, but losing the citrus quality...but...this takes on a weird overtone on my skin...sorta like my grandma's art studio--all the paints/solvents/sawdust combined in a way that I like, but maybe not as a body oil (intent or no). Actually, that "weird" scent has a resinous quality to it--myrrh? The late dry is a very powdery resin/musk scent. Overall: This was a very sweet gift, but I am happily married and don't need to have strangers fawning over me. Which means I was afraid to wear it in public. I'm going to pass this on. starfish327 Report post Posted February 4, 2010 (edited) i'm not sure that i like the scent on the skin but it's definitely changing my mood...i'm not so sure that i'm more relaxed so much as i'm not tense about my appearance or my body (and confidence is a large chunk of attraction). i don't have a particular person in mind and magickally speaking i've been dumped down a rabbit hole so this may not be the best time to be testing this, but it's been jumping out of the imp box so no time like the present i guess? i also don't have a particular individual in mind either so this may come out muddled. update: well. i guess it worked. sort of? i didn't get any male attention but the women around me were nicer than normal. i know that's not the intention of the oil but that's what seemed to work out for me... starrykitten Report post Posted May 21, 2010 I really love the scent of this. I can't remember if I ever used it in an all-out ritual, but I know I've worn it with its intent in mind. To be honest, I didn't notice much effect. I wore it once on a date and my date complimented how good I smelled and we went pretty quickly to making out, but I think that would have happened anyway. Upstart Crow Report post Posted May 27, 2020 (edited) Going to try to see how this works with a man I'm interested in but who I'm talking to online...will update you. I like how it smells! ETA: 6/6/20 Hm. I'm not sure if this is working, but it's doing something interesting. It's making me feel not just more confident in my interactions with him, but, interestingly, less gender dysphoric?? I didn't expect to have it start to make me comfortable with my "feminine side" (for lack of a better term), but there it is.
