dragon's blood recommendations...?

I really like Dragon's Blood so I'm trying to get a list together of ALL the BPAL scents that have this note in them so I can try them

 

I would love some help pointing out ones I'm unaware of - especially LEs!!

Here's a completely subjective list of some scents I think could have dragon's blood where it isn't specifically listed as a note. Far from inclusive, and I am sure people will have others to add and may disagree with some of them.

 

LE:

The Cracked Bell (lots of people smell it, this went odd and sharp on me so it probably is in there! But it is still a beautiful scent)

Inganok Jewelers (ditto on that)

The Castle (I can wear this and I absolutely love it, so if there's dragon's blood in it, it's an exception to the rule!)

Midnight Kiss

Quicksilver Phoenix (that cinnabar note seems a little dragon's blood-y to me)

The Chapel

The Dole of the King's Daughter

My disclaimer is that I really can't wear dragon's blood at all. I like the way it smells in the bottle but my body chemistry gives it this terrible acrid quality. However, sometimes I can wear blends that have just "blood" or "blood accord" listed, which makes me think that those notes in a description don't automatically = dragon's blood and that Beth probably uses a number of formulas to achieve those notes. Still, when you have exhausted the list of dragon's blood scents, start trying the ones that have just blood or blood accord listed and you may find that you get a nice resiny dragon's blood effect from one or more of them.

 

Also, keep an eye out for "daemenorops" as a note - this is another name for a type of dragon's blood. Anactoria, Man with Phallus Head, The Contract of Theophilus of Adana, I Married A Vampire From Planet X, and Wilhemina Murray are all LEs that contain it and The Great Red Dragon and the Woman Clothed With the Sun from The Salon has it as well.

Hello, dragon's blood lovers. I've been playing around with my Ars Draconis imps and wondering if anybody has any good layering suggestions for these oils. (Or any new favorites with dragon's blood as a note.)

 

I've just tried layering Dragon's Musk with Dragon's Tears - the resulting scent is quite lovely.

Can anyone tell me which dragon's blood scents are more resinous? Bpal's dragon's blood is usually very floral on me. Dragon's Milk and Blood Amber are both very nice but the db smells like lilac on my skin. I have not yet tried Dragon's Heart or Musk but I would like to. Sadly, I never got to try Tintagel.

 

Just wondering if anyone can recommend a very resinous/incensy (but not smoky) dragon's blood.

 

 

And, what is the difference, scent-wise, between dragon's blood and daemondrops?

My two favorites are Dragon's Bone, and Ladon.

 

Dragon's Bone isn't "dry" to me, it's just beautiful - It's the scent I go to whenever I need a big dose of confidence (for example, I am in management, and I sometimes has the unpleasant duty of talking to direct reports about performance issues, or addressing complaints against one employee from another employee...in those circumstances, I need a scent that makes me feel strong, confident, and unshakable...this is the one I go for!)

 

also - Ladon is just stunning, and one of my favorite "fall" blends because it has this gorgeous apple note in there too...it's like the Dargon's Blood version of Coral Snake!

Here's few CG suggestions. Mage from RPG series is nice smooth balsam and resin scent (gurjum balsam, Sumatran dragon's blood resin, olibanum, galangal, oleo gum resin, and frankincense). If you like cherry: I don't think Blood (Essence of dragon's blood resin, thickened with myrrh and cherry, with a trickle of clove.) from Bewitching Brews is floral at all. It's rather spicy but I think myrrh makes it also incensy.

I've really been enjoying When Thy Will Stung the World. It won't really fit heatherovka's question, because to me it is a little smoky, but I really love it after the first wet stage. it starts out a little overwhelming to my nose but ends up mostly DB and red sandalwood and a little coffee, mmm.

Well, I ended up getting Stage Blood on the very last day, I'm excited to try it.

My two favorite DBs are sadly DCed, Tintagel and Dragon's Reverie.

I do love Blood Rose though. I find it very heady and rich.

I LOVE dragon's blood, but if it's blended with a death note, it's still a death note (so, for example, Milk, Eye and Tears don't work for me).

 

Am awaiting an imp of Dragon's Pecker which I have SUCH high hopes for ... IIRC this was available through Etsy but I hesitated in buying a blind bottle ... if it works half as well as I think/hope it does (I <3 cedar), then I'll definitely buy a bottle once the Etsy site returns after the holidays if it's still there!

 

It's funny to read my really old reviews of certain blends that had DB in it, before I knew DB existed in and of itself. I think I tried to identify it as some sort of floral -- sometimes lilac, sometimes gardenia, I think.

 

Also, just to reiterate what someone else mentioned, WOLF'S HEART NUM NUM NUM NUM NUM.

 

Also, Dragon's Reverie was divine before it was DC'd.

 

And finally, I am PRETTY sure that the original Tarot scent The Tower has dragon's blood as well ... did someone mention that already? It's just that it smells SO much like Wrath to me.

I love Beth's dragon's blood note! My favorite dragon's blood scents are Blood, which is one of my bedtime favorites, and Dragon's Heart, which are both darker and more resinous to my nose. Dragon's Musk is much sweeter, and Dragon's Claw definitely has the sandalwood prominently featured. Last year's Miskatonic Philharmonic scent Totentanz is also a dark, resinous dragon's blood scent. And another dc'd one from Ars Draconis is Tanin'iver. This one is very spicy- the cassia is very prominent in it.
