calivianya Report post Posted July 19, 2012 Redwood, red sandalwood, black pepper, blonde tobacco and frankincense. Wet: Woodsy and... fruity? Must be the tobacco doing something weird here. I'm definitely getting some pepper, too.Drying: Okay, the pepper is amping. This is getting a little hellfire and brimstone-y in a very bad way, as pepper can go totally nasty hot death on my skin sometimes...30 minutes: Warm, sweet woods with a bite. I'm glad I didn't scrub it off in the wet stage. I was really tempted to!I think this is going to be fantastic with some aging, but right now it is really rough around the edges. I'm going to hang on to it to see how it matures.
LiberAmoris Report post Posted April 30, 2016 Carceri d'Invenzione is sweeter than I imagined from the notes, although the blonde tobacco and frankincense might be contributing to that. Like others, I also get a fruity note that might just be the redwood and red sandalwood colliding. The black pepper has a light touch. On the drydown, this is a red sandalwood-dominant blend on my skin, with the blonde tobacco closely behind. On the whole, it's a tobacco and woods blend, with sweetness and resin underneath. At times, this actually reminds of Queen of Spades, although this is much lighter. It has the feel of a classic perfume.
