portalkat Report post Posted August 6, 2006 If you want spices I'd try Silk Road for sure. I agree, I thought of this thread this morning as I read the reviews for Silk Road. Share this post Link to post
Taniwha Report post Posted August 7, 2006 Ah, I see. *sigh* I don't think I'm gonna find what I'm looking for. Maybe I'lljust go home and make some curry for dinner as a consolation. How about a scent like Lapsang Suchong tea? I just tried Hamadryad, and it reminded me very much of Lapsang Souchong. I did a search to see if anyone else had made that observation, and found this thread. So - my two cents. Share this post Link to post
Teggy Report post Posted August 10, 2006 I tried the Sri-Lanka + Djinn combo, and I'm not getting Suchong. I'm gonna try them separately next and see if I like them alone. (If my Djinn bottle makes it home. The cap broke at work) Share this post Link to post
Luhtarian Report post Posted August 23, 2006 I'd suggest Baghdad - it says it has Bulger Roses, but you can't smell them AT ALL on me, and my skin usually turns roses into a loud, soapy mess. Share this post Link to post
ShleepySnorlax Report post Posted August 17, 2018 If anyone's still interested in this topic, Luke 10:25-37 is all gorgeous amber and saffron on me. It's quite delectable. Not curry but it does have that warm almost foodie savoury vibe. Share this post Link to post
torikitty Report post Posted November 8, 2018 If you like curry, I'd totally recommend The Jeweled Spider. It's amazing. I know curried goat is the last note in the listing, but with the cigarillo smoke, it floats to the top for me. There's also an earlier Pumpkin that smells a bit like curry, but you'll have to read through the Pumpkin Patch reviews to find it. I can't remember the number. Share this post Link to post
artisjok Report post Posted November 8, 2018 & Lilith Nightingale! Very comforting, creamy Indian spices. I didn't get much of the date or fig, but a touch of sweetness. Not very sweet though. Share this post Link to post
Tungerine Report post Posted September 13 I'm looking for GCs or recurring LEs (so I don't have to worry about running out if I really like it) that are spicy but not (foody) sweet, and gender neutral to masculine. If it smells like curry to you, it might be what I'm looking for! I usually find amber too sweet, but it's ok if it's really subtle. Cinnamon and cassia tend to be overpowering, but I don't mind them if they're not too strong. A little resinous sweetness is fine too, but not as sweet as Shub-Niggurath, for example. At the moment I have Troll (one of my all time favourites) and Odin (the elm bark is gently spicy). Dracul is another one of my favourites, but it's sweeter and less spicy than I'm looking for. I like the spices in Scherezade but overall it's too feminine and sweet, and I suspect Morocco will be the same, but I'll try it. Oblivion could be good, the reviews suggest the spices are fairly subtle but I think I'll like it even if it's not exactly what I'm looking for. Any others I should try? Share this post Link to post
ShadowEtienne Report post Posted September 13 32 minutes ago, Tungerine said: Any others I should try? Not one I can use personally, but the idea of it sounds up your alley and I wish it didn't have a note that hurts me: Bengal (A sultry and unruly blend that emulates the ambient scent of the markets in ancient Bengal: skin musk with honey, peppers, clove, cinnamon bark and ginger). Maybe I could see it being too sweet or too cinnamon heavy, but could be worth a shot. One that I like personally that could fall into this is Wrath (dragon’s blood spiked with black pepper, clove, and cinnamon). The three listed spices are really well balanced, and to me it isn't sweet at all. It's a pretty potent scent, but if applied without to heavy a hand hits a really nice balance point of good throw and staying power without being overwhelming. Another one that might be worth further investigation but I can't use is Molly Grue (An angry little beetle with her own kitchen beauty: fig, sesame, hazelnut, and cooking spices softened by rice flower) from the Last Unicorn scents. Might be too foody though. Share this post Link to post
