Lilac fougere, white musk, and leather accord.

I got a half decant of this as a frimp from the Fantastic dpoulsen21 : -D

At first, I smell a powdery lilac that is softened by the white musk. It takes a little bit for the leather to come out, and it is very subdued to my nose - I can't really smell it.

This is mostly lilac and musk on me, and does not strike me as masculine, but after it's on for a few minutes, I can see how it can be interpreted as manly.

A very interesting scent, although it is familiar enough for me to feel like I've smelled it before. Lilac fans should absolutely seek this out, it's soft and clean - not headachey, sharp, intense, or fake.

In bottle: Extremely lilac with some musk. Wet: Blends beautifully on the skin. The fougere morphs into a light aftershave with a moderate leather scent and a faint musk edge. This scent is highly androgynous, and I suspect will morph quite a bit depending on how much natural musk the wearer has. My cats find it disturbing however. Dry: As it dries, the musk smoothes the blend out, turning it into a light lilac musk blended seamlessly with leather. It slowly fades to lilacy leather.

This is a male scent IMO, exclusively. If you are a fan of heady 1950s-style musks, this might be for you. As another reviewer put it, it smells like an aging friend in their Sunday best. There is an element to this that makes me think of wood-paneling and poorly circulated office building air. Weird visual, but yeah.

I chose this one for the lilacs and leather. Alongside the white musk they become overtly masculine, fuzzy, comforting and warm. Not so much me, but glad I got to test it.

Shirt wear length, stays close to the skin.

In the bottle: Extremely pale yellow oil. Light, fresh. Herbal, floral, a bit of soft leather, bright white musk and what smells like rain - aquatic. A bit cologney, but pleasantly. Lilac, lavender, moss. Absurdly clean.

Wet: Deeper, with headier lilac and more intense leather. Also more herbal, with a very green-fresh lavender note, and some thyme too. Slightly mentholic, but in a refreshing, not harsh manner. Lightly soapy edge. The white musk is stronger, a bit sharp.

Dry: Very little morphing. The bracing herbal notes soften a bit, while the lilac and leather merge together producing a light sweetness which enhances the sexy cologne scent. It's still quite aquatic, and while the leather is very slick, it's not quite plasticky the way it can be on me.

Later: The lilac blooms further over time, without going soapy or heady - it's just intense and pure and natural. The white musk has softened into pure, clean sex. While the leather retains the almost-plastic slippery feel, it's also deepened, with almost an earthy or stony tone, and a spicy edge. Light oakmoss shining through now, too.

Summary: Sweet, fresh, and bright; unisex cologne with a glassy sheen. Clean, alluring musk, softly herbal thyme and lavender, slick but deep, sauve leather, fresh, full-bloom lavender, and a faint touch of earthy oakmoss, all immersed in a rain-drenched aquatic base. Beautifully balanced. Decent throw and lasting power.

Yay! Finally a lilac scent I can wear, and leather note that isn't unpleasantly plastic on me. It's a bit too unisex for heavy use, but it fits the bill for lilacs, and one day I will slather this on man and ravish him.

This reminds me of Quincy Morris...only instead of sharp lavender we have a sweeter, gentler lilac. Both make me think of long black leather gloves that have been to their share of glittering events. There is a danger of feeling a touch old-ladyish with this one, whereas Quincy M. is delectably lethal.

Still, on the latter part of drydown, they sing a duet in harmony.

Not sure if I'll keep the imp. I have plenty of Quincy Morris when I am in the mood for a duel.

I was really worried when I put this on and started smelling the early signs of Famine, who turns to sour vomit on me. I hadn't looked at the scent description yet and I kept thinking "you have lilac in you, don't you!" >:( Luckily this turns down a different road than Famine - it's kind of what I was hoping for with that particular Gaiman, in fact. I could have sworn there was tobacco in here, but the dry, dusty leather really holds down the lilac fougere. Strange smell and it's getting better and better the longer it sits on me. :)

I get fresh, clean and musky gentleman's lilac cologne with a wonderful leather note in the background. Masculine, sexy, gorgeous. :wub2:

Just won this bottle from the Lab on EBay . Must say it's more floral then I expected it to be upon first sniff . However , after only a minute or so on skin , the leather comes out . This is lite and will be a lovely summer blend for sure . And I'm a guy who doesn't mind lilac at all . Rose is another story :rantrave: Don't think I'd wear this often . But it will be perfect for dress up moments .

This skirts just over the androgynous line towards manly, so much so that this masculine-blend loving gal can't find it in her to wear this. The lilac and musk are quite strong on me, with leather creeping in a little later (and staying further in the background than I prefer). My nose refuses to acknowledge this as anything other than "freshly showered male." Not that there's anything wrong with that. aroused.gif

This blend may not work for me, but I think I now have Mr. Elf's summer blend.

Wet: Lilac - both petals and a hint of green foliage. Backed by a clean, slightly sweet white musk. Mmm. I don't find this masculine at all, it's a lovely floral perfume that anyone could wear. It's so clean smelling, but not in the aquatic/dryer sheets manner that I dislike. It smells like spring. Hints of leather are emerging to ground it, but just hints. I LOVE lilac, but have struggled to find a BPAL lilac that was sweet but not too sweet. This is perfect, and I LOVE it with the white musk. So elegant.

Dry: Love! Lilac, white musk. Lovely. Still not finding it manly at all, I will really enjoy wearing this in the spring.

ETA: I have to add that, on full dry-down, the most GORGEOUS leather note emerges. It's sexy, musk, almost creamy. Total love. All phases of this perfume are gorgeous.
