bambi Report post Posted March 14, 2021 This is a hard pass from me. This is exactly the kind of patchouli I don't like. At first, I got a hint of pine and dirt and thought this might be a soft patchouli scent with pine, and I was ok with that, but then the patchouli got super strong, and so did the flowers. It screamed patchouli and roses at me until the patch died away and I was left with just roses, which I dislike to the extreme.
fairybites Report post Posted May 26, 2021 I'm getting a lot of graveyard dirt with faint juniper and patchouli. It's a very dirty green type of scent, like I covered myself in dirt from the forest. It's very sharp and strong when wet, but it calms down in around 30 minutes and is much more wearable now. This is a newer imp, so I'm hoping with some aging the dirt will calm down and I'll get more juniper.
wordortwo Report post Posted September 4, 2022 To me, this is the suggestion of dirt more than a realistic representation. I prefer that. It is almost like fresh juniper with rain-soaked mud clods and dried flowers (maybe rose petals). The patchouli is quite light. Fresh juniper and flowers trampled into a mud puddle. I enjoy this one very much. Initially, I had rejected this because it had not quite been what I expected. Too fresh. But I returned to it months later and found it lovely and quite "wearable" for most settings.
LavenderCoffee Report post Posted September 8, 2022 Snagged a bottle of Burial because it's so easy to wear. I don't usually seek out scents with juniper but it's just perfect here, blended with fresh earth and patchouli. I don't get much floral. A quiet, sacred place in a dense forest swirling with mist. MolyH Report post Posted February 11, 2023 This smells more ashy and dusty than dirt-y or earthy to me. It's a very dry, bitter scent. Reminds me of a Chinese farming village in the winter, walking across barren, yellow-dirt fields towards huts in the distance with wood fires burning in them. AbbyNormal Report post Posted February 12, 2023 Today’s imp was Burial and I wasn’t sure what to expect. Opening the imp I got wet, dark earth in the middle of a forest and was very intrigued. I put it on and completely got the cemetery notes, so much that I instantly thought of a specific scene in Pet Sematary. I was planning on making a cup of coffee and then putting on the movie for a very immersive watch, but then the scent morphed into very strong rose. I’m not a fan of rose scents, and this one actually isn’t bad for rose, but it’s really not what I want to smell like, and it won’t go with the movie at all now. I can still get flashes of damp, dug up earth, but it’s mostly rose. Think I’m gonna go shower instead.
Lecter Report post Posted February 19, 2023 A strong scent, with notes of dirt and something clean, which I’m assuming is the pine
PumpkinGuts Report post Posted March 17 I'm just now going through my dragon hoard of imps and decants to (re)test and review, this particular imp is very aged. Burial is a mostly woods on me without much greenery, I'm getting patchouli, cedar, and dirt with something rotting underneath. A little bit of camphorous juniper during the wet stage, but it was fleeting. No noticeable florals. Overall, Burial is an atmospheric gravedigger fragrance, complete with perspiring man smell. Or, perhaps, the scent of being buried alive. Extremely long lasting, moderate projection.
Fancyfetus Report post Posted August 12 I received an imp of Burial secondhand. Unfortunately, I have no clue of its age. Burial is the soil scent I've been looking for. To me, this brings perfectly to mind the rich earth and decomposing wood and leaves that make up a forest floor. It smells damp, like it rained several days ago but this section of the woods is so thoroughly shaded by tree canopy that it has retained substantial moisture just below the very upper layer of leaf litter. What this doesn't smell like is a graveyard, or a "proper" burial. Cemetery grounds are all freshly mowed grass and sparse tree cover. All the fallen leaves are ushered away with a leaf blower, not allowed to rest and rot among the dead. Burial smells more like the place you find your untimely end. Rushing through a forested shortcut, you trip on a protruding tree root and break your neck in the fall. This is the scent of the earth ready to claim you and incorporate you in with all the countless dead things that have come before. It's truly a phenomenal fragrance. I don't get much floral in this, but it could just be mingled in with the other detritus. I think this would be gorgeous layered with a floral perfume. My heart says either lilies or violets, though white rose may be lovely as well.
tharsei-thanate Report post Posted August 28 When I first put it on, I got a huge blast of juniper. Then the juniper softened a little and some dark and dirty (almost smoky?) patchouli emerged. I was hoping for more dirt/soil, but this is still pretty pleasant. The juniper is mellow and the patch adds an intriguing grittiness to it. The vibe is more forest to me than graveyard. I like it well enough to keep the imp but I don’t love it enough for a bottle tbh.
