kirakira Report post Posted April 22, 2012 Cream accord, amber, teak, and lotus blossom. On me, Glowing Vulva at Ryogoku Bridge starts out as a creamy wood and after about 20 minutes the amber arrives to join the mix. I wear this as a comfort scent so I tend to wear it on my hands. Because of the throw, I can enjoy it from a distance or bring it up close when I need to. Wonderful!
Vaudevillain Report post Posted July 13, 2012 WOW. I got a tester of this, it's absolutely miraculous. Very, very creamy, with a slight crispness that's probably the teak. The amber powders it out nicely. The lotus floats around and brings it together- ahhh this is absolutely gorgeous. It's got an interesting throw, too- it does throw but it isn't erratic, pretty much it stops about a foot from where I applied it. If I can find a bottle of this, I'm getting it! loladae Report post Posted September 28, 2012 Such a wonderful scent. I can only repeat what reviewers have already said. I pick out the cream accord firstly, and there are smokey woods in the background. I think of Antikythera Mechanism + lots of vanilla and cream, actually. It's a really great mysterious, grown-up vanilla. Too bad it's DC.
Valtiel Report post Posted August 5, 2015 I'm surprised that I haven't reviewed this yet! This is it. My favourite scent bpal has offered... I got into bpal on my birthday in 2013, but eyed their oils since 2006 @,@. In the bottle: Lovely cream and amber! The cream has this delicate vanilla orchid powder to it. The amber could be adding that dusky powder however. Upon a longer huff of the bottle, comes the teak. Just a faint wood though! Wet: Almost the same as in the bottle. Except the teak comes out to stabilize and the aquatic-sweet lotus adding a ethereal foreground! Dry: The teak plays a more quiet, yet dominant role. The amber is sweet, powdery-resin on me and the cream-vanilla orchid-Esque note swirls with that soft lotus and blankets the amber and teak! Verdict: It is absolutely, without a doubt, gorgeous! It has a medium throw and it lasts.
celestia Report post Posted December 4, 2016 (edited) ♔ Glowing Vulva at Ryogoku Bridge Oh! I remember when I bought this in 2008… it’s only gotten more glorious with age. I seem to think even back then, I was well aware of the notes I liked and wanted to smell. I'm really glad I didn't miss this. I think buying from the Lab was so expensive for me back then, I could only afford one bottle a year, the rest were compensated with partials...and out of all the updates, I chose this for 2008! In the Bottle: Golden, sweet creamy amber with a slight woodsy note. Wet: Fresh, it reminded me more of Volcano in Springtime, creamy, golden and slightly tangy…but aged, it absolutely reminds me of a creamier, woodsier Haloes, sans the apricot. The lotus blossom has definitely come out more with age, rendering the blend a lot sweeter with the amber. There might even a little sugared vanilla amber-like tang from Snake Oil. It smells so expensive and golden, like a bright, creamy woodsy amber-resin. Drydown: Agh! I love this! It smells like Blossoms in Springtime when ‘wet’ on me, now… perhaps a little less vanillic, and a lot more amber-y golden, woodsier, and less floral. Glowing Vulva smells less perfumey and more full bodied, and rich. In this phase, the vanilla amber-like tang comes out more and it does begin to smell a bit like Khrysee too, albeit a lot more complex, woodsier, and rich. I think along with L’Estate, this is what decidedly turned me towards golden scents to begin with. One of my original first loves. I still have one bottle left! TL:DR: Woodsy, creamy, sweet amber - heavy ratio of the first three Edited January 10, 2018 by celestia
LizziesLuck Report post Posted February 5, 2018 Wet: Oh wow, very unique. I don't know exactly what I was expecting, but this isn't it. It's much...darker than anticipated. It's very rich. The teak is gorgeous. The amber really does have a glowing quality. I was a bit worried about both the cream (goes sour sometimes) and the lotus (gross bubblegum of doom) but both are very restrained in this. This is really all about the amber, on me, as it dries. It's a bit powdery - not in a bad way, more in that classic, elegant, slightly nostalgic way that I like. This is so different. I haven't smelled anything like it. It smells "antique". Like if someone described this as "antiqued amber" it would be bang on. Dry: This is difficult to describe. I find it really sensual. It wears very close to the skin on me. I really like it. Not sure if I love it enough to justify how much I paid for it, but I will need to wear it for a full day before I will really know. My skin also seems dry right now, it seems to be really soaking up oils, so that may have also impacted the strength and throw. This has also made me even more excited for this year's Lupers, which should drop any day. I sure hope there is a new Vulva!!
violetvorpal Report post Posted April 8, 2018 (edited) Smells like a floral sour cream on my skin. If cream notes work on your skin, this would be lovely! Unfortunately my skin turns cream notes sour. The teak and lotus blossom is a pretty combination. Very unique blend. Lucchesa Report post Posted January 25, 2019 It is abundantly obvious to me why Glowing Vulva inspires so much love. Both teak and lotus can turn cloying on me, and cream is iffy too, so this was by no means a guaranteed win, but it turns into one of those gorgeous creamy sweet florals Beth does so magnificently. Teak is the sweetest of woods on my skin, and it provides the background here for warm, creamy amber and soft pink lotus blossom. I get good throw for the first couple of hours (which is unusual for me), then it wears much closer to the skin, but it has lasted over ten hours now. This manages to be both innocent and utterly sexy. I'm so thrilled I got a chance to try it.
Rspades Report post Posted August 6 Me thinking, this is a scrubber because it goes on a little woody and seems to evaporate immediately. And then me five hours later sitting in a café, wondering what smells so good and realizing it’s myself??? Please give this one time to work its magic! The wood disappears and what is left is a long lasting delicious cream and Amber skin scent that BPAL does best. I can’t speak to the recent release, but if you can get your hands on some of the original, I highly recommend it.
