achildoftime Report post Posted January 6, 2018 (edited) Lilac, blue musk, dianthus, cedar, neroli, ozone, and luminous Eastern herbs. I have the 2013 version, for what it's worth. It's a nice lilac perfume with a bit of cedar and herbs. There's a very subtle spice to it, which I'm enjoying. I don't find the cedar to be like pencils, but more like an old chest. Lilac can sometimes get so airy that the herbs and cedar give it a little platform to dance around on. It also keeps the whole thing a bit warmer, which is a nice take on lilac as I usually find it a cooler note. Edited January 6, 2018 by achildoftime
rix Report post Posted April 4, 2018 (edited) 2018 version. I get a touch of cedar with an airy powdery floral on top. Was hoping for some lilac realness, but got gentle powder instead. Oh well. Edited April 4, 2018 by nekan
mishi-bear Report post Posted April 15, 2018 (edited) 2018 version. This starts off strongly aquatic and sweet between the blue musk and the ozone. That does dial back given some time, allowing a sweet powdery lilac, clean neroli, and a bit of a spicy-floral dianthus to come forward. I honestly get like no cedar. The Eastern herbs are kind of vague but there's definitely a bit of a herbal blend going on here. The longer this dries on skin the more those herbal notes develop. After a good hour I found myself sitting here wondering what smells so nice? Turns out it was me. I think one of the herbs in the blend is a creamy-spicy coriander, which I adore. Low throw but medium wear length. Edited April 15, 2018 by mishi-bear
RoseThornAndOak Report post Posted January 2, 2020 '08. Mighty fine lovely floral keeper with a reasonable bit of ozone, bordering on aquatic. A bit like Grief or Ode on Melancholy. No cedary pencil shavings, praise Whatever. Why did this just kinda sit in a box for 11 years? It doesn't beat the bombastic Thalassa aquatic floral but it's pretty dang pretty. Lucchesa Report post Posted February 18, 2020 I'm pretty sure this is Night Thoughts 2018 -- it's undated but a TTP decant. I love the lilac note and was hoping dianthus would be a recognizable carnation but I don't actually perceive either of those notes. Instead, I get a hint of cedar, a hint of dryer sheets, and a generic light floral. No throw and not a lot of staying power on me.
starbrow Report post Posted April 4, 2021 Blue musk is a win for me! It helps temper the florals of Night Thoughts into something wearable, even keepable for me. The first few hours of this blend has that sultry cool funk that is not indoles but is something both breezy and animalic that turns sweet florals into something really sexy, almost salty or aquatic. Once that dies down, I'm left with pure florals that are honestly kind of stinky on my skin and not in a good way. I don't like what Night Thoughts turns into, but the lead-off is really shockingly fun. The bottle survives another year, I think.
