surf-tormented Report post Posted June 1, 2010 The Fool's perfume: apple blossom, peppermint, allspice, and yellow sandalwood speckled with grave loam and clods of grave dirt. In the vial: Sweet grassy dirt.On skin, wet: Pure Graveyard Dirt.Drying: Ooh, something medicinal, minty...minty grassy dirt!It really reminds me of another perfume I own...ok, probably Graveyard Dirt! <img src="http://www.bpal.org/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/magtongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="magtongue.gif" /> I didn't want to be that boring, but oh well.Ok, it reminds me also of Goth Rosary's Graveyard scent now that it is drying.Like another reviewer said, I'd also grab for the Worm Moon or Graveyard Dirt first, since their perfume is a bit pricy and I have no need for the tarot card. I might if it was a full Minor Arcana set of 22 cards, but a 15 card tarot deck is a bit weird to me and I wonder what they are excluding, since seven cards have to be excluded...it makes the deck uneven and probably hard to read from.Yes, it is really like Goth Rosary's Graveyard. If you like scents like Graveyard Dirt and don't have it, the Fool would be a great substitute since GD isn't available anymore.
BoneBone24 Report post Posted October 20, 2014 Wet: Fresh, still-on-the-tree apple. Not a sweet apple, almost bitter actually. Drydown: Crisp sour apple. It smells stemmy and green, somewhat like a crab apple. A deep brown note muddles the blend. The scent of damp, acrid fall leaves pile up at the base of the apple tree. A gust of cold air brings in a sweetness that tempers the blend, as if each note was dissipating. Dry: A very muddled mix of fall leaves, tree bark, crisp apple, and the chill of a first frost. 7 out of 10 bones
LizziesLuck Report post Posted June 18, 2016 Wet: Apple, mint, earth - interesting! Reminded me of the dentist for two seconds, but I don't know why, and it wasn't enough to put me off. I am not a huge fan of either apple or mint, but something about this called to me (likely the earth - love me some dirt!). So far I feel like I would want to wear this to bed a lot in the summer, which is good because I feel like I am lacking in bedtime BPAL right now. Dry: There is something really bitter in this that has spoiled it for me, unfortunately.
auaurita Report post Posted October 15, 2017 The dirt smell is so strong on me that I could actually taste it. That's... certainly not what I expected. I powered through to see what it would do on drydown, but it mostly just got greener and fainter. I got no mint of any kind, just greenish dirt (mold?). If you like dirt and your skin chemistry brings out some of the other notes, this is probably a really interesting blend! No luck for me, though.
follis Report post Posted July 19, 2019 (edited) Wet: Fresh dirt. Mint. Sweetness from some apple blossom On: So much dirt. The mint and apple blossom has blended with the dirt to make it a slightly nicer smelling... Dirt haha. Hint of sandalwood peeking through. Dry down: More of the same. Overall I think this has been blended well. I thought I could smell some all-spice but it really does complement the dirt haha. The mint is not overbearing and although I won't wear this personally it definitely was interesting. Edited July 19, 2019 by follis
doomsday_disco Report post Posted February 2, 2021 The Fool is predominantly cool dirt (thanks to the peppermint combining with it) and apple blossom on me. The apple blossom is soft, but either it or the combination of the apple blossom and sandalwood make it end up somewhat sour smelling on me after a while, sadly. I was never able to detect the allspice. I was gifted a bottle of this perfume and was so glad to get to try it after only getting to sniff it at a convention, but sadly, it didn't work out for me. So I have gifted it to another BPALista who will hopefully have better luck with it.
