Light golden-brown oil. LAVENDER with much lighter lemon verbena, sage, and maybe rosemary? Roommate says 'reminds me of Whole Foods bath and body section'. It reminds ME of a cross between Temple of Dreams and TKO, though not creamy or sweet. Definitely an herbal blend that could be a Panacea scent and has a strong (but pleasant) lavender base.

This one is a sharp, herbal lavender. Def. in the somnium blend type, but with a hint of dirt mixed in. I actually think it's got some coriander in it.

 

Fades fast, but it has a pretty big throw while I can still smell it.

LAVENDER and yes probably sage. This one could be a proto for a utility blend (panacea?). Lavender is very difficult on my skin (only Lilith Victoria works and that one, only after considerable aging) so I won't skin test.

Lavender and sage for me here. This does call to mind the Panacea line. Sharp and astringent, I'm not finding any sweetness here, but it is oddly calming. (I've been in a state of near panic all day, and I just noticed that I'm more relaxed than I've been).

Very herbal at first, almost annoyingly so, but the lavender finally showed up after about 5-10 minutes and mellowed out the herbs until it became a very nice, gardeny scent.

Wet: Lavender, herbal, with red musk. Kind of nice. Reminds me slightly of Corazon, without the fruit.

 

Red musk strengthens as it dries. Then it too fades, and I'm left with a faint, slightly powdery herbal whisper.

 

I'm not a huge fan of lavender blends, but this is ok. I'd like it better if it didn't go slightly powdery-floral after it dries.

A scent I put on my short list based on notes and reviews here and was able to pick up on Etsy. I confess straight out that it is the rare BPAL lavender blend that I DON'T love (I'm in the small group of folks that doesn't adore TKO because it's too sweet for me, and not a big fan of Oneroi -- bubble gum -- or Nanshe -- dishwater -- but pretty much every other one? Bingo).

 

IN THE BOTTLE: Lavender lavender lavender and herbs. Not too sweet.

 

Dabbed on wrists and in crook of arms.

 

WET: The lavender amps all over the place the nanosecond it touches my skin. It's a super-strong scent but in a good way. I'm not sure which of the other blends it reminds me of but I want to say Temple of Dreams (I'm not sure my nose is quite attuned enough to be sure) ... I'm in the minority of people who think this could have been a proto for a Somnium scent rather than a Panacea but what do I know?

 

DRYDOWN: Nice long legs, lavender with a slightly sweetish herbal drydown.

 

OVERALL: If this isn't a Somnium prototype, it should be. This imp (I always decant an imp out of my bottle for testing and easier application) goes RIGHT into my Flentz box ... yes, I use the earplugs case for all of my BPAL lavender-y imps pre-bed.

 

On a scale of 1-5, a 4.8.

Maybe I was primed by previous reviews, but this reads as lavender shampoo to me - maybe with some other herbal scent components thrown in for flavor. Less aggressively soapy after the first few minutes. Maybe not bad if that's your thing, but it's a no-thanks from me.

 

Other opinions, more for flavor than anything as neither of them agree with me or each other At All: "Spicy. Spicy... water?" "None for me... something about it reminds me of an old folk's home. I feel like I'm getting a tiny bit of formaldehyde?" (the latter was off a bottle sniff)
