Recommend a scent for a specific dress or outfit

i have this dress which i love but when it comes to wearing a scent that matches it and how i feel in it i seem to fall flat if you get what i mean? i thought bright red fruity scents but they aren't sexy enough and then i thought red musk but i think most scents i have with red musk in are too heavy for the dress since its cotton..... i feel i over think.

I could see that dress smelling like Slippery Poppy Tincture. It has that paper-white, delicate, clean floral plus the red berry and a little sexiness from the honey. Or maybe Mania for a red musk scent? The red musk gives it that red, sexy feel, and I find that the grapefruit and white musk give it a fresher, lighter edge. I could also see Roses, Pearls, and Diamonds fitting with the red & white color scheme.

I can't wear Bordello because of the red wine note and I don't get along, so I know how that goes. But I tell myself every blend is different, so maybe Bordello would be the one to work for you. *fingers crossed* you find something wonderful

It's funny, I looked at the picture first and my immediate thought was Hollywood Babylon. And then I saw that you mentioned red musk, which HB does have (which is why I haven't tried it). The combination of red musk, which is apparently sexalicious on people who like it, and strawberry, which is sort of innocent yet cute and flirty, seems like a good match for that dress. Which, by the way, is adorable.

i traded for a bottle of holywood babylon when i was new to bpal it was an older bottle and i dont think my nose was quite used to bpal coz i didnt like it much but my OH loved the smell i traded the bottle away and now i wish i hadnt because id really like to smell it again. its funny how your nose changes after wearing bpal for a while. *wants a bottle*

Crypt Queen came to mind right away - it just reminded me of the feel (gorgeous choker by the way!)

 

I think it depends on how you'd like to feel - sometimes I'll wear something soft and innocent when my outfit is edgier or vice versa and sometimes I'll go with the same theme for both the outfit and scent. The others that come to mind are Whip, (any of the "harder" goths if you have them like Rivet.Goth or Gothabilly), Bordello, and all types of leather blends (Le Pere Fouettard, The Black Rider, De Sade - and so on - depending on what you have). Velvet would be an interesting play on the fabric - and I also think any type of stronger scent would hold up to the statement of the outfit (like Black Temple Burlesque Troupe, Panther Moon, Licorice Bats, Paduan Killer Swarm, or Smut).

Not sure what your scent preferences are, but purely going on the outfit:

I would vote Romanti.goth (for sure!), Black Dahlia, Hunger, Sin, or Perversion for a heavier scent. Lighter ones, I would pick La Petit Mort, Morgause, Medea (in small amounts this is brilliant), or Eros.

 

Ooh wait..! Infernal Lover too!

Eesshh that's one sexy dress. Vixen springs to mind, for obvious reasons. I have never tried it personally but Bordello also seems like it would be a good choice- nothing to do with brothels! The scent description just makes me think of the colour purple + sex. Smoky, sweet scents would be quite befitting as well I think- Perversion & Liz are both gorgeous and sexy.

 

And, of course, Black Lace. I think that would work wonderfully.

 

(As a last resort re: hot date, just wear it out anyway- guaranteed you'll clinch one!).
