Ravenclaw79 Report post Posted October 9, 2010 (edited) What an awesome "joke imp" we've been given with our NYCC purchases! And it certainly smells way better than it sounds. In the imp: Gingerbread cookies! Yum! Dried: Oh, it's lovely, lovely and spicy and gingerbread-y, a little bit like Reindeer from Uranus. But there's a hint of apple in there, too, I think, which is mixing nicely. Thank you so much, you lovely Labbies, for the wonderful gift! Invidiana Report post Posted October 10, 2010 (edited) For something based off a nasty insect this is actually pretty yummy. It's very much like orange spice tea, like that Southern sweet orange pekoe tea, but more resinous and spiced with hints of pepper , cinnamon and cardamom. Thankfully this type of cardamom is the newer one that behaves on my skin because there is a certain type from I think it was before '07 that I turn to nutty plastic but not this one. Thank you Labbies for the awesome gift and fantastic weekend, and we hope you come by here again next year! Edited October 11, 2010 by Invidiana
yamiko Report post Posted October 11, 2010 Man, this is tasty! It smells like spice cookies to me. Not too sweet, not too spicy, but a fantastic mixture! Very warm, and a good fall scent. Thank you to the Labbies for a fantastic weekend and a great little surprise!
LunaLovegood Report post Posted October 11, 2010 (edited) I agree with Kaylee. Its spice cookies. Not too much of either one. Its very yummy and definitely a foody with just a tinsy, tiny, barely there hint of what I think its citrus. Never in my wildest imagination would I dream on touching a perfume named Bedbug, but this is AWESOME! Thank you Beth! Wwindy Report post Posted October 11, 2010 Oh wow -- this smells like gingerbread and Constant Comment tea! No tea note, I mean, but almost exactly that mix of spices with a hint of orange. Such a warm, spicy-sweet scent... Is there maybe a tiny tiny hint of patchouli way down underneath this? I'm not sure, but there's something really rich and almost chewy going on here. I don't normally go for the foodie blends, but this is absolutely delicious. OM NOM NOM!
SueTigger Report post Posted October 11, 2010 Ha! Okay... this is too funny... Bedbug is making me hungry for cookies. LOL I think this is why I don't usually wear foodie scents. In all seriousness, though, I love how this smells so warm and spicy and tasty. It's not what I thought it would smell like at all. Thank you!!!
porcelina Report post Posted October 12, 2010 i laughed when i found bedbugs (the IMPS, not the actual bugs! ) in my nycc bag, because my fiancé and i were kind of worried about our trip to nyc after hearing about the apparent bedbug epidemic there (and before going to the con, we had checked into our hotel room and thoroughly inspected our mattress, haha). this is a fantastic scent, like yummy gingerbread cookies and tea! i love it! absinthetics Report post Posted October 13, 2010 Amazing spicy, gingerbready, caramel cookies! This could possibly, and horribly, be a favorite! Great throw!
angelicruin Report post Posted October 14, 2010 Gingerbread cookies and caramel on my skin.
naeelah Report post Posted October 15, 2010 I was somewhat surprised and dismayed to find this imp in my bag, because the same day, I found ACTUAL bed bugs in my apartment. So I give this review with the caveat that I've tried this on once and won't be trying it on again. This is a spicy scent with a light, somewhat citrusy base. It has lots of cinnamon, ginger, maybe some cassia, who knows. There's also a note of something kind of like caramel or butterscotch, but it's not very strong. This all floats over something that reminds me almost of Embalming Fluid. Perhaps there are some tea notes in this. I don't think it smells so much like a cookie, because I don't smell cake. Comparisons to spiced herbal tea earlier in the review thread are probably pretty good descriptions. Over the course of the weekend I accumulated about 20 imps of this (because the lab ran out of other frimps). Luckily, I'm not so fond of wearing cinnamon scents, so I feel no remorse in passing all of them along to other people. It's a cute idea, but right now I want bed bugs OUT of my house in every way, shape, and form.
MotherKat Report post Posted October 15, 2010 Gingerbread!! With a tiny hint of citrus. Oh I love this scent!
opticnerd Report post Posted October 15, 2010 Smells JUST like those super thin, crispy sugary ginger snap cookies. The kind that have just a hint of orange zest to them and are served with tea. Who would have thunk a bedbug would smell so cuddly and sweet? That said, I frimped away all spare bedbugs, because, you know, its important to pass them onto someone else. lamenteuse Report post Posted October 16, 2010 Ginger, spice, and a bit of orange. Like a really amazing ginger scone.
Ashenrook Report post Posted October 16, 2010 ...Who would have thought that a foody scent would make me think of a bug. I don't know how you do it, Beth. Anyhoo, I got this as a lovely freebie in my NYCC fairy's package. I'm not a huge fan of spice scents, but this was sorta nice. It's a very fresh, spicy, gingerbread... Probably a ginger snap would be more apt. I don't think I'd wear this one, but it was fun to try!
Gold Dust Kitten Report post Posted October 16, 2010 The label sends shivers up my spine. I've seen the little beasties in plastic bags attached to guest injury reports when I worked at a major hotel/casino. Ick, ick, ICK. Once I got past the ick-factor, I tested it out. It did smell like caramelly gingerbread cookies.
edenssixthday Report post Posted October 16, 2010 (edited) Bedbug - This smells exactly like gingersnaps! Foody in a deliciously spicy way and nothing at all like an icky bedbug. ETA: There was another note in this I couldn't identify -- it didn't seem carmelly or butterscotchy to me at all. I finally decided it smells like molasses. Or maybe sorghum. Probably molasses. Mmmm. Aldercy Report post Posted October 16, 2010 Definitely on the order of Gingerbread Poppet, though I think I like the long-term dry-down a little better. Bedbug is very hardy and long-lived (much like actual bedbugs, unfortunately), but over the course of the day it gets less spicy and becomes sweeter, gentler, more like a warm sugar-musk. (Is it just me, or does Beth like to make her most revoltingly titled scents foody? I can't wait for something called "The Oozing Plague" or "Tapeworm"-- they're bound to smell like crumpets and raspberry sorbet.)
tarotgirl99 Report post Posted October 16, 2010 I second Aldercy. Very Gingerbread Poppety these bedbugs are! The 2004 Gingerbread Poppet that I think is the most perfect version. The long term drydown of Bedbug is even more delicious, as if the gingerbread poppet had caramelized. It is, in a word, yum.
pinkgyrl Report post Posted October 17, 2010 (edited) My pick-up angel is just that - an angel This is like Monster Bait: Underbed light to me - I get cardamom, cinnamon, and a creamy caramel type note -maybe a hint of ginger - it's very warm. I'm not picking up as much citrus as the other reviewers - maybe just a hint of orange here and there. It's much fainter than Underbed though and my skin just eats it up unfortunately - it's such a fun scent Edited October 17, 2010 by GirlinDenial
AnArtfuldodger Report post Posted October 18, 2010 (edited) Cookies and a bit of cinnamon. It definitely smells warm and tasty (YUM), though it doesn't last super-long on my skin. Seems like somebody got bugs from eating cookies in bed! Edited October 18, 2010 by AnArtfuldodger
crebbsgirl Report post Posted October 18, 2010 Ginger, a hint of citrus, and something vaguely caramelly. Keep in mind, my skin tends to turn anything sugar or molasses related to caramel, so it might not actually be caramel in here. It's sweet, and very foody on my skin. Delirium1009 Report post Posted October 18, 2010 (edited) Mostly gingerbread with a little bit of orange. This is very foody, and not too strong on the spice. It also behaves on my skin while in the past I've had issues with Gingerbread Poppet and other bakery type blends turning almost salty and savory smelling on me. ETA: I've worn this a couple of times now and the more I do, the more it reminds me of apple pie as opposed to gingerbread cookies. There's a hint of fruitiness to it aside from the light amount of citrus that's quite nice. Edited October 24, 2010 by Delirium1009
marared Report post Posted October 19, 2010 Black tea with spices simmered with a clove-studded orange - a very citrussy chai. More citrus than spice. I'd almost agree with the cookie comparison, but I've never smelled cookies with that much citrus in them. Yum.
zankoku_zen Report post Posted October 19, 2010 Gingerbread, caramel, spice and a hint of citrus. Foodie, yummie. This smells like a delicious gingerbread cookie. Warm, comforting, foodie.
