THE LINCOLN TUNNEL VORTEX
Not merely a pathway between Manhattan and Weehawken, the Lincoln Tunnel is also a site of mystery. Cars have been reported missing in mid-voyage as they passed through the tunnel, and individuals have claimed that they have exited the tunnel disoriented, with strange gaps in their memories. Are these accounts a side-effect of sanity-shattering traffic or is this a genuine highway to an alternate dimension? Swirls of discordant, high-pitched notes, pavement, and a thin coating of sweet, green-glowing radiator fluid.

I thought from the description that this was going to be very high pitched and ozone-y. What I actually get is an odd, almost waxy/powdery smell. The powder is almost certainly some kind of musk. To me, this is basically a one-note scent that stays true as it dries down. Among all of the things I've tested, it reminds me most of Tetramorph v2 (only without the honey).

An odd scent, but a pretty one nonetheless.

Oh Ellebelle, I envy your skin because I only wish this reminded me of my beloved Tetramorph. However, I have quite the penchant for turning aquatics to generic soap and lo and behold what two words did The Lincoln Tunnel Vortex translate to on me? Coast soap. Dead-on Coast soap. Not unpleasant, but not what I was hoping for. I have to say that in the bottle I could smell hints of what actually did remind me of subway air somewhat (but fresher), which is pure genius, but once it hit my skin it was pure Coast in 30 seconds.

a fresh, soapy scent. VERY strong, with something sharp and sweetish on top, and a heavy powderiness underneath. it smells clean, maybe a little masculine.

Aquatic floral..but... every time I really smell this I get something fruity too. There's something sweet in there that's ... actually kinda yummy. A very green scent, though. It's my second favorite (oil) from the show.

In the bottle: Dishsoap, but a bright, clean dishsoap, not heavy and sticky.

 

Wet: Laundry? It's clean like laundry, like line-dried laundry.

 

Dried: A surprisingly sweet and fresh smell, like fresh air.

I really like this one too. From the description I wasn't holding too much hope for this (pavement & radiator fluid?!)but its such a clean aquatic scent. Very wearable! I will enjoy it =)

 

After a full on wearing.. It doesn't last too too long on my skin. I actually got a few complements on it! One gal said it smelled a bit spicy? I didn't think so, but its nice just the same.

High pitched, ozoney. Got a hint of apple on wet, and then it turned into a slightly masculine soap. It's like a slightly more sinister version of Tony.

 

Clean, aquatic.

In the imp: soap, anise, and that ethereal ‘darkness’ note from Night’s Bridge.

Wet on skin: this does smell green and glowing, and soapy, floral and medicinal.

Dry on skin: this one is weird! It is high pitched, discordant, and it smells disorientating. I smell a really nice mix of green musk, white amber and presumably davana or tea or neroli, something that reminds me of the likes of 51, Pollution, and a few of the Black Helicopter scents. It also has that cool, dewy, sparkling night air note from Night’s Bridge. However, this does have a soapy scent, presumably a floral note, and a medicinal anise undertone (and some cherry?) that reminds me of certain sore throat or cough medicine. I can’t smell much asphalt but there is a dirty, grubby note and a hint of something almost like lichen, as well as some petrol.

After a while: after a long moment of weird oiliness that reminds me of olives and aniseed with tar and a hint of petrol, this scent then lightens up a bit. The high, disorienting notes come out and they smell just like 51’s mix of green musk, white amber, light fruits and tea with airy ozone. I really like this drydown, it reminds me a bit of Chemtrails too, but without the sugar note.

Verdict: I have to admit, there is a slightly geeky reason why I was interested in trying this…the very idea of a portal to a parallel dimension in a tunnel makes me think of Doctor Who! (Planet of the Dead, if you’re wondering.) But the scent itself doesn’t seem to work out. There’s a weird oily bitter undertone to it that reminds me of bitter olive oil mixed with asphalt and anise. I think that’s the radiator fluid note? It smells a little chemical too. However, the weird para-dimensional notes evoking wormholes and time rifts do smell good here-they remind me of the white amber and glowing musk notes in sci-fi scents like 51, Skytyping with Chemtrails and Alien Invasion. Even the hint of ozone works here. There may also be some tea and citrus here, bright sparkly flowers too. But despite the concept of a parallel dimension or portal in space and time in a road tunnel greatly appealing, I’m really not keen on the weird oily undertone this scent has, I prefer the other space-y white amber and ozone type scents.

This smells of a medicine cabinet full of cheap toiletries on me - bars of creamy, white, generic soap, cheap perfumey floral cologne, and a filthy layer of baby powder and dust. I like some clean blends (I loved the sweet, creamy soapiness of Tony, for example), but this is too sharp and dry smelling for me. It doesn't really smell green on me at all either. After an hour, it just smells like I rolled around in dryer sheets... my skin turns most aquatic or ozone scents into a cheap soap smell, sadly.

The Lincoln Tunnel Vortex - I think I am in LOVE. This opens up with a really high-pitched, ozoney scent that's on the verge of being gender-neutral if not all-out masculine. But as it warms up on my skin, the high-pitchedness and ozone goes away and in its place tons and tons and tons of beautiful, gorgeous, yummy green musk comes out, and it just gets better and better as time goes by. There's a bit of an asphalt note beneath the glowing green musk, and there's still a hint of ozone, but mostly it's green musk, and I love it. Love it, love it, love it. By far my favorite of the NYCC perfume oil blends.

Definitely green musk here, very ozoney and 'green'. Kind of cologney, actually. After a bit, I smell like a mushroom, so this is not for me.
