bpalscentsual Report post Posted January 23, 2012 1/23/2012: Ops (Will Call November 2010) Previous scents: Dove shampoo and deodorant. In the bottle: Citrusy and sweet. I can already tell I’m going to adore this. Testing method: Three swipes of the wand against the inside of both wrists. Immediately: This is a very rich orange-lemon, citrusy spice cake. Ah mah gah. Is it possible for me to eat my wrists? This is like lemon pound cake from Starbucks. Wow. This is good stuff. Fifteen minutes: The scent was threatening to go Yankee Candle on me, but so far, it’s avoiding plasticky death. There’s more depth being brought out with the top spice notes, and I can’t wait to see how this changes over time. One hour: Definitely getting spicier over time, but still on the verge of Yankee Candle. Is this what people mean by it going plasticky? On a positive note, the spices are genuine baking spices, and they smell very realistic. Several hours: Not much change, except that it’s become fainter with time. I still want to eat my wrist, because it smells like lemon poppyseed cake. Overall: I’m wondering if this would be better in an oil burner as a room scent, but I only have an imp’s worth, so I thin kI’ll continue wearing it on my person. I love foody smells, so this is very comforting to me. I’ll keep it until I use it up. DISCLAIMER: Due to differences in skin chemistry, inherent olfactory powers, and other scents that an individual might use throughout the day (i.e. scented deodorants, shampoos, room sprays, cooking odors), these oils will smell different on every individual. This review is only intended to illustrate my personal experience wearing it throughout the day.
rinster Report post Posted May 22, 2012 This is such a homey, cozy delicious scent. It's not heavy or dense, but kind of reminds me of caramel corn sprinkled with cinnamon (not that I've had it, but that's what it smells like to me )
Iceblink Report post Posted June 9, 2012 Delicious--this does smell just like a spice cake! It's very rich. I think I need some sweets after testing this...
mymymai Report post Posted October 2, 2012 In the Imp (ITI): Bread pudding, lemon zest, cream, and nutmeg. Ohh, this is rather interesting. Wet: It's very similar as ITI, although there is more of a vanilla to it, but the lemon zest gets stronger as it starts to dry down. Dry: While it didn't last 12 hours, when dry earlier on it smelled of warm pudding with vanilla and cinnamon.
starfish327 Report post Posted February 9, 2013 gingerbread poppet. this is pretty much a (very slightly) spicier gingerbread poppet on my skin. then it takes a hard sharp turn into ivory soap, which makes no sense but shrug.
tharsei-thanate Report post Posted April 4, 2013 (edited) Oh, hello Ops, why haven't I tested you yet? I actually got this as a frimp with a BPTP purchase back in December, so thank you to Puddin and his goblins, haha. I love spiced foody blends so this sounds like it's right up my alley. In the imp: Mmmm spice and bread! Not quite sweet, maybe a little buttery, a tad nutty, and overall very yummy. Wet: Mmmm creamy bread pudding, bursting with nutmeg and clove and... hm, there's something else in here I can't really identify that's making my mouth water. I just want to nom on my wrist! Dry-down: I think that mystery note was some sort of vanilla, because now it smells like it could turn into plastic. No wait, there something else here now that's aaaaaalmost... burnt? Actually, that might be a sugar note. Yeah, I'm seeing glaze in my mind. It's not bad but like with the vanilla, it smells like it could very well veer into deathville. Dry: Everyone chills out and stops threatening to throw themselves off the cliff of goodsmells into the valley of badsmells. It's super spicy and somewhat dense bread with a vanilla glaze. Oh yum, if someone baked something that smelled like this I would pounce on it and gobble it up. Verdict: Delicious! I'm very happy the vanilla and the sugar behaved in the end. It's actually reminding me of Pickled Imp if it had a bread note instead of pine sap. Glad I have an imp! [Edit] Haha, I click post, get a glass of water, sit down again, take another sniff, and now it smells like someone took a slice of the bread and spread butter on it. And it just smells richer in general. Wowww, I really love this blend. Edited April 4, 2013 by tharsei-thanate
JazzieCazzie Report post Posted September 26, 2013 IN THE IMP: Creamy, salty and aquatic Dabbed on wrist and in crook of arm WET: Hmmmm. Kind of a lemon cookie. No, actually, it is like biscuits with a tangy lemon creamy curd. DRYDOWN: I can sort of sniff the crumbs crumbling. I think it will stat more of a biscuity scent than a fruity one but it's nice and light and a very interesting change. OVERALL: I would definitely keep this. A nice scent to wear when, maybe going to an outdoor patio to eat a light fun lunch with friends. It's got the yummy scent that piques your appetite without overwhelming it. ON a scale of 1-5, a 3.
hammy Report post Posted January 27, 2015 In the imp - Almost reminds me of The Harvesters a little bit. Less sweet, more spice. Wet - Ooh, baking spices. Someone else said unfrosted carrot cake, and that’s exactly it. Drydown - I'm having a hard time pulling specific notes out of this. It's not much of a morpher. Still spicy carrot cake. In a savory kind of way, that is. This would be great around the holidays. Verdict - Keeping the imp, but not seeking out more.
maproot Report post Posted April 26, 2015 Omg here it is five years later and I just opened this as it was in an unloved pile at a M&s I smell beer, ale, citrus and woods with a whisper of smoke that is absolutely stunning Put some in my hair then twenty minutes later sniffing self for the bit of slightly sweet smoky goodness Oh how I wish there was more in this imp I don't get the creamy as much as the smoky And beer and citrus Just.gorgeous
LexieBlom Report post Posted October 7, 2015 OPS imp Wet/Bottle - FOODIE. Warm holiday spices -- nutmeg, cardamom, allspice, cinnamon, maybe some ginger. Either spice cake or sweet bread. Wet/Skin (5 minutes) - Identical to the imp, down to the last detail. Rich, spicy, sweet. It smells like spice cake with a citrus glaze. Dry/Skin (30 minutes) - The same creamy, spicy, sweet deliciousness. I do appreciate foodie scents, especially ones as delicious as this one, but I never wear them. Ever. baconpancakes Report post Posted March 19, 2016 i was lucky enough to receive a frimp of this recently, and oh my god, it's so amazing! when i first open the imp, it smells sweet and citrusy, like lemon cake batter. it's slightly less sweet when i first put it on, and immediately notice the spices (nutmeg and cinnamon, particularly, maybe a bit of cardamom and clove?). it also smells buttery and creamy! as it dries down, i get some sort of smokiness coming through, though i'm not sure what it is, as well as more spices. it's nice! reminds me of a crackling fire inside a wood stove. overall this scent is so cozy and comforting... to me, it brings to mind a cool late spring night, sipping tea and eating a warm slice of lemon sweet bread with vanilla glaze, slathered with butter, freshly baked in a stone oven. if only i had a whole bottle of this! bellumed Report post Posted November 13, 2016 Foodie and creamy with a pop of citrus; it's not literally fizzy, but that’s the word that came to mind. Light and bright. Wow, this smells perfect for me. Smells like breakfast on my skin, as the above post mentioned, something smoky… alongside something oddly clean, which settles back into the lemon cake on drydown. And then, and then…! Playdough. Sonofabitch.
bulletslc Report post Posted March 2, 2017 I don't get any citrus from this. It is spicy oatmeal cookie. Very yummy, but if you aren't into foodies stay away.
Lucchesa Report post Posted April 6, 2017 For me this was the weird heavy spice cake somebody brought to your holiday party and no one ate. It just didn't work on my skin. Neither does Eat Me, so I suspect there is some common ingredient that doesn't agree with me present in both.
milo Report post Posted March 25, 2018 (edited) This is the Christmas version of Storyville on me. Spicy Booze, (like eggnog), cookies and musk. This is quite amazing, and must have aged well. Edited March 25, 2018 by milo
VetchVesper Report post Posted March 27, 2021 In the imp, this smells yeasty, like bread or beer. On my skin though, it becomes vanilla dominant but not really foody. It' s warm smelling, and makes me think of a good vanilla candle. It gets more bready and spicy, though it's still not super foodie, and I'm not sure what the spice is. I don't get anything citrusy at all.
