AmandaArcana Report post Posted February 9, 2011 White chocolate martini. In the bottle: creamy and kind of effervescent. On me wet: the gin leaps out at first then the white chocolate comes out.Dry: kinda a delicate balance between the gin and the white chocolate. On me the gin stands out more and smells kinda fizzy.
het4377 Report post Posted February 18, 2011 Oh, the Lupercalia chocolate box; how I love your diabetic-coma inducing sweetness and quirky flavors! The White Chocolate Martini Truffle is one that I took a chance on, and BOY am I glad that I did, because I had no idea that this would be so awesome. Now in the spirit of full disclosure, you should be forewarned that I LOVE fizzy blend and gin blends, and with that, on to the review! Wet on skin: mostly gentile fizzy gin (much less piney/strong than, say, Bathtub Gin) with a definite white chocolate sweetness note at the base. This is utterly unique in my olfactory adventures with BPAL! After a while: This IS a white chocolate martini, dead on! I love it! The gin and white chocolate notes are surprisingly complementary and awesome. Final Verdict: LOVE. No, seriously, this is just awesome. It doesn't come across as alcoholic in the least, it's just this sweet creamy white chocolate with a fizzy barely-there juniper base. Soooo perfect! Rating: 4.5/5 If you like this, try: Bathtub Gin, White Chocolate Marshmallow and Coconut, Swank, Twenty-One, Spinning Multicolored Metallic Pinwheel, Geek.Goth, Sparkling Apple Cider Using a slightly altered yeahbutnobut review formatting, because it is the epitome of awesome and helpful. thekittenkat Report post Posted February 19, 2011 In the bottle: Milk chocolate and gin. Wet: The gin comes on strong, but the milk chocolate is still in the running. The dry-down: This does smell like a chocolate martini, but I don't get the white chocolate note; instead, it's more like milk chocolate that is not very sweet. Gin is a "dry" liquor, so that's giving the dry sense that I'm experiencing here. I do like this, but not as much as I had hoped I would.
angelicruin Report post Posted February 19, 2011 I get a lot of gin and a champagne-like note on me. Not really getting any chocolate out of this one...well, maybe just faintly.
cfrancesca Report post Posted February 20, 2011 (edited) This starts off as fizzy gin and slightly cloying white chocolate. However, it settles into a lovely, sweet, creamy, soft, fizzy scent. I think this may be the winner among this year's chocolate scents for me. Edited February 20, 2011 by cfrancesca
Venneh Report post Posted February 23, 2011 In the bottle, I'm getting that creamy white chocolate for a second before the more astringent of the alcohol (the same note in the Champagne and... scents that goes to ammonia on me) overwhelms my nose. Which is a bit worrisome. Light application. On my skin, white chocolate floating over that astringent alcohol. Maybe they'll meet somewhere in the middle? Iceblink Report post Posted March 1, 2011 Sparkly gin! Very much like Twenty-One, Swank, Blue Fire--that awesome gin note the lab does so well. The white chocolate is a pure and strong one. However--I don't think these two sides balance well. It's a struggle between the sweet, smooth chocolate and the fizzy alcoholic gin and they never really mesh. I may let this sit for a few days and try it again, as it has potential, but I'm not quite sure how the battle between the booze and chocolate is going to end on my skin. Little Bird Report post Posted March 2, 2011 I love the lab's gin notes (like fizzy pine/juniper on my skin) and their white chocolate blends, but I'm not really liking them mixed together. The chocolate adds a sweetness that makes the sweet, fizzy, boozy part turn towards cloying, and the fizzy aspects just don't mesh with the creamy chocolate for me. Wearing this makes me feel like I layered two different scents that aren't really working together...
Invidiana Report post Posted March 8, 2011 I think Little Bird nailed it by saying this one is like layering two different scents that are great on their own but odd together. I too love BPAL gin (Blue Fire!) and white chocolate blends but the two together just don't seem to mesh on me. It's like the fizzy, tangy gin is constantly at war with the creamy and sweet white chocolate and they won't just settle down already. I think if there was some sort of fruit in there it may have worked better.
Gin Report post Posted March 11, 2011 I love BPAL gin. I love BPAL fizzy scents. I enjoy BPAL white chocolate, for the most part. I thought White Chocolate Martini sounded like a good combination of those notes I already like. And I do like this--but only after the discordant, too-bright juniper over dirty chocolate phase passes and I'm left with a funny fizzy chocolate. I don't like this as well as Velvet Pink Kitty nor White Chocolate Strawberry, but I think I like it better than the straight-up gin of Twenty-One (and maybe a wee bit better than The Hamptons). milo Report post Posted March 12, 2011 Wet, very effervescent with strong white chocolate. Dry, much the same, only the white chocolate dominates, with a teeny bit of plastic vanilla showing through. I do love to eat white chocolate, and I love the fizzy feeling of this blend. I find it quite foody, and would love to try this drink out. That being said, I don't really want to go around smelling like white chocolate. The vanilla in this reminds me of Snow White, just a tad bit plastic. zankoku_zen Report post Posted March 15, 2011 For me, this is a boozey chocolate martini. Chocolate, effervescent booze - the same sort of fizzy note as in Polynesian Pop and the Will Call Champagnes, but with hints of gin. Typically I amp up juniper, so I'm pleasantly surprised at how non-juniper this martini is. I feel that the boozy fizzy martini part prevents the chocolate from being too sweet and making this scent wearable. This is more of a 'light' chocolate scent, more like a 'dusting' of chocolate over some soft booze. Sadly, my skin chemistry eats this up. Part of me likes this chocolate because its not so overtly foodie.
midnight_aeval Report post Posted March 23, 2011 I enjoy drinking Tiratinis (Tiramisu Martinis), but I don't remember them being fizzy? Maybe it's been too long lol This was really effervescent at first, I was scared. It's mellowed out, somewhat, but still too much of that fizzy quality I just can't wear without feeling slightly nauseous. Without the fizz, I think this could be a great creamy white chocolate scent. I've never had a bad experience with alcohol or otherwise fizzy drinks, so I don't know where my fear of them comes from.. I just associate them with bad things after a night of drinking too much if you get what I mean!
invisible iris Report post Posted July 21, 2011 In the vial: Rancid fizzy white chocolate. This is really unpleasant so far. *ahem* I get what Midnight Aeval means. On skin: Same as in the vial. It seems like it’s trying to be gin and white chocolate, but it smells like rotten fakey chemically white chocolate to me. Dry: Okay, this is much better dry than it was wet. But I still don’t like it. It’s like white chocolate with a side of herbal mouthwash. Or juniper, I guess. It’s very sweet and white-chocolatey in its throw, but also kind of curdled and weird. It smells like a white chocolate Easter bunny with a hangover. My nose alternates between thinking “mm, creamy!” and feeling queasy. Admittedly, it does soften significantly over the next hour. Verdict: Easter bunny analogy aside, I believe this faithfully replicates the smell of a white chocolate martini. I guess I just don’t want to smell like a white chocolate martini. D’oh. Honey Report post Posted November 7, 2011 This smells like.. White Chocolate Martinis I guess! Dusty/dry white chocolate (bit papery tough) and some fizzy fuzzy booze! I cannot decide if this is rather pleasant or.. if it's a bit rancid and like bathroom cleaner. Hmmm.. verdict: it DOES smell like those martinis, no doubt, but I am not sure if it's gonna work as a perfume.
Ajila Report post Posted July 28, 2013 In the bottle - Definitely the booze, I would have said gin, but I don't really know what goes in a martini Wet on me - Sweet white chocolate, and a dry alcohol and a burst of citrus Dry on me - A warm, oddly dry cocoa scent with hints of citrus Overall - It's an unusual chocolate scent, but one that doesn't really work for me
bellumed Report post Posted December 31, 2014 This is the longest-lasting carbonated note I've ever tried, I'm so pleased! Bon Vivant, Fizzy Jack O'Lantern, and Gnome all went flat on me, but this one's sticking around. It's fizzy and citrus-y but overall still smooth, I guess from creamy white chocolate. I enjoyed this one far more than I ever expected to.
aquazoo Report post Posted November 12, 2015 Boozy white chocolate. It is what it says, but I don’t like the martini smell.
