White rose, apple blossom, spun sugar, mango, cucumber, freesia, coconut, and lavender.

I couldn't resist Nymphia for all the different beautiful notes grouped in it together.
When I tested the decant for the first time, I knew I had to have a bottle.
It is absolutely lovely!!!! Sweet but not cloying, and layered and well blended. Sweet, floral, an element of coolness from the cucumber and lavender, sweet sugar and apple blossom, a hint of a bite from mango, and it just wafts and teeters back and forth on the edge between those elements. The coconut serves as a background note on me, like the glue holding the other notes in place. It's not all foody, not all floral... just a beautiful (in the total sense of the word beautiful) scent that is dreamy and happy and springy!

Sweet spun sugar, soft coconut and soft freesia. On wet, it is those three elements and a brush of lavender. I am not surprised that I amp either the coconut and freesia, but I believe all the other elements and the addition of the sugar make both the coconut and freesia less aggressive.

 

It worked out how I imagined it would, but I am surprised at how soft and creamy it is, and not strident. Interesting, but not for me.

In the bottle this is coconut and lavender with a smidge of freesia. Sounds like a strange combo, but actually works really well together.

 

Wet on the skin, it's very sweet. Coconut and sugar. After a few minutes, the sweetness fades slightly and morphs. It's a soft, pleasant freesia (a favorite of mine) and apple blossom. I can tell the sugar is here, but it's not the usual sugar note you get from the Lab's sweet scents. It's subtle and definitely takes a background. I like this, but can't describe why. The coconut has faded almost completely, and the sweetness serves to soften the bite from the lavender and freesia.

 

I'm definitely a fan, and glad I bought a bottle.

It smells feminine, innocent, hopeful girl, fruity but dry. It is very nice.I'm glad I instinctively ordered a bottle before it is out.

Couldn't make this one work for me (but then if you examine my previous reviews you'll see that light, girly scents rarely do!). Quite a "yummy" scent, if it was a fruit I'd eat it, but too sweet and cloying for my taste. My skin does weird things with lavender and apple blossom so I think it's probably that making it not work.

I bought a bottle of this right off... When I 1st tried it a month ago, it smelled heavily of mango and spun sugar with freesia and coconut lurking around the corners, occasionally popping into the middle. I was confused and disappointed because I was hoping for a more balanced scent with stronger rose, cucumber, freesia, and lavender.

 

I'm glad I tucked it away and waited for a warmer day.. I figured this would seem much more appealing outside of the cold winter months. Yes~!

 

Wet: now I get more apple blossom, white rose, and mango. The spun sugar is a haze that surrounds it.

 

Drydown: sharp tinges of cucumber and lavender over sugared rose and mango. The coconut fills the back of my nasal cavity and hangs out for an extended time. The freesia is sweet, slightly acidic in combination with everything else..wonder if it's conflicting with the lavender. Overall, very girly, youthful, more balanced this time. I'll continue to hang onto it and try when the thermometer hits 70..

Wet, a lovely coconut with fruit, kind of reminiscent of Tiki Princess. Dry, dusty coconut and mango. This was much better on me wet, as some coconut tends to smell dusty on me. There is a touch of rose in the background. This would probably be very pretty on someone else, but my skin chemistry ruins this one.

In the bottle: smells a little bit like "death by sugar and coconuts". extreme sweetness, candy, and a playfulness that is probably the apple blossoms and also the mango. very springy and flirty to the point of ridiculousness. which is really endearing. like a 4 year old in heels, costume jewelry, and a big hat, batting her eyes at the camera. surprisingly innocent.

 

On my skin: on me, this one changes almost completely from how it smells in the bottle. the cucumber and freesia come out, with lavender to cut the sugar. it's very juicy and an interesting mix. sort of nonsensical like some of the Mad Tea Party collection (tweedledee comes to mind, as does twinkle twinkle little bat). I adore the juiciness and freesia reminds me of my quest in high school for the perfect freesia scent. it also has a little bit of rose. when dry (or drier). I love how it seems to cycle through all the ingredients at one point or another.

 

Last thoughts: largely sweet and juicy with a hint of tartness. very girly but it doesn't overwhelm me like others might. I think it's engaging and pinch-your-cheeks kind of cute.

Sniffed: Very fruity-sugary sweet. I can pick out the vanilla sugar, coconut and miscellaneous fruit.

 

On skin: The oil blooms on my skin, becoming a light, airy blend of florals, fruit and sweet sugar, grounded by lightly herbal lavender. It's a bit too blended for me to pick out individual notes, many of which I'm not familiar with anyway. It stays much the same over time, straightforward but beautifully crafted. Overall, Nymphia is delicate and intricate, evokes lace and frills and chiffon, and embodies the bride of a typical Western wedding. Colour impression is pure white with a touch of leaf green.

 

Verdict: Indeed, Nymphia exactly matches its name. It's much too floral- and fruit-heavy, and sugary-sweet for me, however.

In the bottle: Spun sugar, cucumber, mango, and a touch of freesia and rose. Delicate and refreshing.

 

Immediately after application: Spun sugar, mango, freesia? Sweet and pretty.

 

Warming up: Softly sweet and just a bit floral.

 

Fading: Spun sugar.

 

Faded: Light throw, average wear.

 

Overall: Far too light and pretty for me It's a lovely scent nonetheless.

Luscious mango with cool freesia, sugary apples and a light kiss of lavender. What a lovely mix!

 

Usually scents with this much fruit or rose would be way too sweet for me, but this is pleasantly refreshing. It's playful, yet dry enough to come across as adult. It definitely has a bit of a tropical vibe even though I'm not picking out the coconut specifically. It's sweet with a bit of kick behind it due to the herbal lavender. Very relaxing; puts me in a vacation mood (if only)!

 

Flirty, pretty and carefree. I have to say though, the longer it sits the drier it becomes, and for some reason this makes it come across as alcohol-based. More like a mainstream perfume. The wet stages were so gorgeous but it was not to last for me.

Nymphia smells like a spa. Lotion and cucumber slices and coconut water and tasteful flowers in vases and powdery lavender aromatherapy. Vaguely clinical though not sterile. Definitely a “white” scent.

So... back when I discovered BPAL in 2013, there were Nymphia candies on offer at the Trading Post, and I bought a tin of those. They were really good (I still have the empty tin), and thinking back on those makes me miss BPTP treats!

 

I never got to try the perfume that inspired those candies until recently. Nymphia is so well-blended that it's hard to pick out the notes, but the standout note when this is first applied and on the final drydown is the coconut, which is soft and doesn't read as foody or beach-like (phew). The cucumber is also soft and adds a light, refreshing quality to the scent, and the spun sugar, apple blossom, and mango lift it up and add some welcome sweetness. But mostly, it's a lovely, dainty scent that's hard to describe just by dissecting the notes. It's not overly fruity, or overfly floral, and the coconut isn't offensive at all.

 

I'm really glad I got to try this and will be hanging onto my decant, but I don't think I need more of this one. This has made me wish for the return of BPTP treats, though.

How have I never reviewed this? Nymphia was my wedding scent! 🙂

 

It's absolutely beautiful, like a light, airy, sugar-fruit-floral cloud. It's very well blended; no one note is too loud. It's a big swirl of pastel color, very green-gold in color: mango, sugar, cucumber, pale green leaves with little blossoming flowers. I love that it's sweet without being over-the-top - the cucumber adds a refreshing almost watery note, and the mango makes everything juicy and brighter, and the sugar floats over everything. It's a very soft, bright, hopeful sort of scent, like early sunrises. 🙂
