whee! wow, my decant is mostly chocolate sludge :lol: love it! very hard to mix though. initially, there is a blast of chocolate, followed by a whiff of lemon and the slight hint of licorice. dry down seems to be a slightly smokey chocolate that's been kissed by sugar. pretty good, actually :joy:

I was worried that this would be too chocolatety but it is really is not too sweet or chocolatety. I was excited to try this because of the wormwood which I like. I am not disappointed in this at all. It is not overpoweringly chocolate, it is light and subdued, with a light woody aroma, and even a slight tart from the lemon verbena. Add a sprinkle of sweet at the end and you have a well rounded scent for use day or night. A very pleasant surprise!

In bottles: Strong dark chocolate and lemon verbena. The smooth darkness of the chocoate contrasts beautifully with the sharp bright tang of the verbena. The sugar sweetens and softens it. I am not entirely sure what sweet flag smells like, but I’m betting it’s the soft grassy note in the background. The wormwood is dancing with the chocolate, understated, but adding an extra dimension to the stronger scent. Fennel ids equally understated, both dancing with the verbena, and through it’s ties to the wormwood, helping the sugar and flag to hold it all together. It’s interesting, but I m worried how my chemistry will blend if at all. Wet: The verbena may be a little too strong on my skin, pushing everything else more into the background, which loses the nuance. Given time to warm, the chocolate and sugar push back a little and the sweet flag comes out a little more than in the bottle. It’s heartbreaking in that if I didn’t amp the verbena, I’d be in love. I still would want to eat this if it were actual food. Dry: Really pretty with dark chocolate strongest, powdered sugar second, and sweet flag thir. If it had smelled like this all through, I’d be buying a bottle.

Oooh..

Sniff in decant: chocolate and a hint of lemon! Is hard to mix...it does separate.

 

On skin: Chocolate seems to fade and I get the lemon right away.

 

Dry down: Still get just lemon and not much else. Can't pick out any other notes, but I think that they are keeping the lemon from not being too overpowering.

 

After a few minutes, I can get a hint of maybe the sweet flag. (?) I get a faint hint of something meadow-ish I think this would make a nice spring/summer scent... I was hoping for more of a chocolate in this, but not on me.

This is my favorite out of the Box of Chocolates. Its Wulric without lavender, add lemon verbena and white sugar. I vote this to be the Chocolate Sleeper hit. The sweet flag is a wonderful addition, giving a warm fresh grassy note. Its hard for me to pin the wormwood or fennel, but I can tell they're in there. Overall, wonderfully blended. :wub2:

This is Very Strongly Lemon in the decant with a dusting of dark chocolate. Wet on my skin and the lemon jumps out strong and sharp with a creamy chocolate in support. Twenty minutes in and all I can smell is a slightly creamy lemon verbena SN. Phoey

Giant hit of lemon verbena with swirls of dark chocolate. It's like Batty and Sugar Scented Lemon Bat combined, on steroids.

 

Eventually the lemon verbena dissipates, and I'm left with wormwood, dark chocolate, a hint of white sugar.

 

Tasty, but not for me.

Testing this year's box of chocolates has been a letdown. The Banana Cream chocolate smells like lemons, the Fig & Avocado smells like lemons, and this one also smells like lemons. This one starts off sweeter than the previous two. It smells exactly like Lemon Pledge wood polish on me, actually (which is a smell that I really like for my house). But the lemon verbena is just a little too much on the sharp & sour side for me as it dries down and the sugar and chocolate notes fade away. I love this scent as a household cleanser, but not as a perfume.

In the decant: I think that's the sweet flag and sugar.

 

Wet: The other plants start to appear. Note: the dark chocolate is sluggy, so be sure and shake a little right beforehand.

 

The dry-down: Has gotten somewhat herbal in feeling, not to mention the lemon verbena rearing it's unwanted head. Again, the cold sniff was best. My wonky chemistry at work, alas.

Dark chocolate at first. Morphs into something quite lovely, not even sure what it is, but I like it. Not foody, it's gentle, kind of smells like a baby or young child. Touches of a gentle floral, dark chocolate and sugar. I had written the chocolates off, I'm not a foody, but I really like this. Chances of finding any more are probably slim to none though. Sure nice to try!

In the bottle - Kind of creamy lemon wit a touch of mint

 

Wet on me - Still mostly the lemon verbena with that smooth creamy undertone

 

Dry on me - Sweet herbs dusty with icing sugar, but backed with wafts of stale dust

 

Overall - Something in my skin chemistry just didn't work with this
